I mean W3C created ActivityPub, it's only fitting they peruse what they had created

I bet Nintendo wouldn't think twice to request books be burned if the yuzu source code is printed on them.

My guess is that this is going to go the same way as McDonalds v everything with the letters M(a)c, and Starbucks v Sattar Buksh

they have more than enough money to keep the server running for decades. not to say you don't need to donate, but you don't need to impulse donate every time the big header appears.

I smell a crime thriller where a serial killer is a programmer and hid their actual child killing searches by masking them as programmer endorsed child killing kind.

They prevent any large wiki they hosted from closing because those have good SEO. They wanted the traffic for the ad revenue, even if all mods and writers got off the platform and replaced with shitty ones.

It really is the reddit migration before reddit migration.

mainly to separate different activities

Firefox has profiles AND container tabs for exactly this though.

It wasn't when the idiom was coined. Have you seen hard-bound books from the 19th century in libraries?

ClosedCaptions.com

Infamous? What's the scoop? I'm ootl.

Edit: just read about it in the actual r/ootl... Which they also moderated at that time. Quite surreal with today's context.

Don't Louis Rossmann launched a repair wiki a while back?

Anyway, mediawiki wikis have a special page that lets you dump the wiki's contents for migration purposes, but I forgot whether it's locked to admins only.

Edit: here's a publicly accessible export page: https://repair.wiki/w/Special:Export

this world is not ready for two based gabes existing at the same time

Look up ReplayGain. It analyzes and then adds metadata about the peak gains of each file, to the file, without the need to re-encode anything. Foobar2k natively supports it. Hopefully Plex also has support for ReplayGain.

They devoted every brain cell to scamming people, none is left to detect 200IQ level pranks.

My bet is that Reddit deployed bots that mass-reports these.

I see Twitter as a ship too big to maneuver. Then one day it got bought and a new captain comes aboard. He deliberately breaks the hull here and there to make the ship lighter and more agile, and also fired half of the hands on deck. The ship's taking on water faster now. He also painted over her name. Despite all this, the majority of souls on board would rather sink with the ship than jump overboard.

They really wanna pull an Aaron Swartz again didn't they?

It's one of Lienus's L takes. People are giving it the benefit of a doubt because he has a huge following.

I started parroting "using a VPN to bypass region block is privateering" in response. LMG taking any VPN sponsorships after that L take is hypocrisy in my book.

Literally Fahrenheit 451

Ah yes, that time a Georgian granny became the Great Firewall of Armenia.

People tend to forget ChatGPT learns from people's comments, like yours.

This looks to be the case.

Look at this photograph

Wow, that's a very ruud instance owner.

I'm talking about the browser user profiles, where your user data (bookmarks, passwords, extensions) is stored.

Firefox puts them into profiles so that you can change between those sets, as if you're a different user, without changing user accounts at the OS level.

This isn't about online accounts.

We're fucking hiding articles behind captchas now? 😒

It's Cubano StreetNet and SneakerNet all over again.

Yep, Mozilla doesn't tie your Firefox settings to your Mozilla account. It does require it for syncing between devices though.

Glad to get people to understand Firefox better. Hope my comment didn't come out as too crass or anything 😅

The hypocrisy lies in Linus preaching "ad blocking is piracy" while taking VPN sponsors which enables piracy in another way.

Gotta work on that reading comprehension friend.

I take supporting creators with engagements seriously.

I could really use that extension 👀 got a link?

Apparently the custom emojis are rendered as static images when federated to outside instances so it's clean.

The newest hype recently are services that supposedly help you remove your personal info from data brokers. It makes me wonder why all of a sudden a lot of companies are clamoring to "help" you remove all your data from all these supposed databases.

It's nominative determinism. It's a real thing.

sounds like a cool idea. hit Ruud up once they're less busy.

Or have a shortcut that has something like this as its target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" --ProfileManager --allow-downgrade -no-remote
This just opens the profile manager every time. The only caveat is that you have to click "launch" every time as there's no timeout. But I also do have an autohotkey script that does the timeout for me, pressing "enter" after 30s.

"I only watch trashy scumbag creators and not nice ones who actually struggles when engagements really fluctuates on a whim. I also have never been on the other side to emphatize with them."

It's like Reddit. If you only consume trash the algo gives you you're not using it right.

This is coming out of my orifice but I think this also affects creators in that once people like myself know we're shadow banned we will not be posting comments because, you know, what's the point? And that is a deduction in engagement, and reductions in engagement affects the creators in visibility in equally vague ways (because opaque black box ML-AIs are driving both of these actions).
