a passerby who want less latency.. :)

They need money for their greedy venture capitalists.

Nothing private in fediverse except when you are selfhosting yourself.

No worries, Lemmy is alive. Lemmy and Fediverse in general is better to grow organically.

All timeline is all post from subs/community that you and your instance-mates subscribe. Each instance has different users, and different user follow different communities. Hence All timeline can be different for each instances.

Welp.. Gnome will lost many of their contributor/maintainer.. Well, at least KDE folks is backed by Novell(SUSE) and XFCE is purely maintained by community already. It seems Linux desktop is still safe. lol

Their main goal is to kill twitter. Their second goal is to skirt antimonopoly laws when they succeed to kill twitter. Their third and optional goal is to starve twitter-like fediverse apps from users. They has loads of resource, if they can come with good and familiar ui without usual growing pains that fediverse has (server overloaded, client not ready), many non tech savy users will never look beyond threads. Thus robbing mastodon, calckey, pleroma, etc from potential users and attention.

I think the in the current implementation, your post views is not public. But any data you have is still accessible to your instance admin.

This is why I hate electron apps on Linux and Windows alike. Sadly, most apps are going electron, especially popular commercial apps. 😮‍💨

Reddit topic is dead... now it is about meta invading fediverse... 😅

A fediverse specific glitch.

It has potential, bu I hope it will not become like those mainstream soc-med..
Fediverse is like a village where each denizen trying to self-sufficent and helping each others while mainstream soc-med is like train station or mall where users just come and go while giving money to its owner for their services..
We may need one or two mainstream soc-med to be alive to keep up with news or to socialize with normies, but we also need a place to retreat like current fediverse.
edit:typo

An installer of Archlinux with sane default but also has all of Arch Power

I once run it in VM on my workplace's old pc with just 1.5GB RAM allocated to it. It runs great, can federate well and has low memory usage even when replying to popular guy on mastodon.social.
The server pc died tho, as well as the domain it uses. I never rebuild it.

Gundam and any kind of war-esque anime is tied to politics.

EndeavourOS

France is become european china at this rate.. 😅

Then, may be we can start talking about Meta's Thread..😅😅

Same here, this is first time I know...

I think there are benefit of killing twitter, mocking el*n and skirting europe regulation on moderation laws. But the worry is there, I hope the devs stand their ground and rejecting any doubious modification from meta on fediverse protocols.

Oh, sorry.. I thought they are one from the start.. thx for correcting me.

Wednesday is always a busy day for me. Work starts from 7 AM and ends at 5 PM. Not a big deal as I can bear with it..
It is 5.10 PM when I am writing this, and I am happy atm because the work finally over. XD Have a nice day, folks!

🤣🤣

HBD dude.. I hope there are many better days ahead for you.. :)

I think it is more self-deprecation than elitism as (in my image) normies tend to have more friends and healier relationship and hobbies.

Jerboa is the Official one because it is developed by lemmy developer...

Now all the things must be selfhot+fedi or die.. welocm to web 3.1.. 😆 (web 3 has been claimed by crypto scammer... sad.. 😅)

In terms of managing a social media sites, yes..

Nah, it is my MAIN reason using Arch-based distro. If not because AUR, I should still using rock-solid Linux Mint.. lol.. 😅

On all instances. Each instance has copy of what happened and every action is relayed by community instance (in this case, Beta) to all subscriber of the community.

I use firefox as my main browser on low end phone, so any complex webapps (both lemmy and reddit) is not that great. That is why I use apps, it feels more responsive when using apps.

Hyprland ftw!

What can we do as user though? Other than whining which make instance admins and moderators job more difficult, we can only do very few things to stop meta. Fediverse is free, it is better for us users quietly migrate away from instance that don't align with our value (in both ways) than harrasing instance admins. At worst it will make admins rage-quit then all of sudden your (or our) instance is gone like that mastodon.online...

Communities has too many sillaby, may be comm or comi is better..
I actually like kbin term, they use term Magazine for community. It can easily shortened as Magz.

A normal friday for me.. :)

Technically, yes. But if you are caught red handed, be ready for the mass ban to your account/instance.

Yup, that is what professional/corporate scrapper do from the very beginning. Fediverse has poor privacy, and it is designet that way. It is better to share only safe content to fediverse for our safety, and share more private things on messaging/chatting apps like matrix or email only to person we trust.

Linux Mint & ArchLinux

Here is the tutorial, please make YOUR OWN server if you dislike admin choice. Thx!

AFAIK, no. Lemmy only shows posts from group actor a.ka community. And only shows comment from normal user as child of posts.
