And any instance that catering to that kind of people should explain it better on homepage and shouldn't federate with other instance from the start so that many open-minded people doesnt end up creating community/magazine there.

You can just block all lemmygrad's community, and if their users bothering other instance's community, let the mod block them. lemmyworld is free to choose which instances to federate like you are free to block all user/community you dislike. That is the beauty of federation. cheers.

No, you just need to go to that community while logged in with your lemmyworld account. Usually the url will become like this: http:// lemmy[dot]world/c/community@some.instance, and once you open that, you can post normally.

No, and it is better no. I want to have control and freedom on how I install and use Apps. Not to mention both of Flatpak and Snap is not storage efficient (compared to native). So for me who uses low end laptop with small ssd, native apps with their shared library is the way to go. I hope even when Flatpak and Snap goes popular, distro which stick with native apps also exist and usable.

Just uses Akkoma or GoToSocial, setup fedifetcher or follow some relays and you can get good enough experience in Fediverse. Mastodon is literally build to handle huge amount of users so it is nowhere near efficient if used for just 1 person.

Cool!, but the fedi software is not just that (especially #twitterverse ones). There are:

• Gotosocial -> a small server first fediverse-server apps. You can spun it with just $4 vps and get a dedicates instance with features comparable to Mastodon.
• Snac2 -> a smaller fediverse server apps, it even use less resources than Gotosocial, but the UI is so oldschool.
• Microblog.pub -> a python-based single user focused server apps for tinkerers. It fully compatible with Fediverse/Mastodon with nice ui.

I tried all of them and still use both Gotosocial and and Snac2 instances daily, and they are a nice piece of software for their own use-case. Granted, all of these list above is not straightforward to use, but can you add that on advanced category. It feels unfair if it just the usual trio (Mastodon, Misskey/Calkey, Pleroma/Akkoma) that has exposure in the forum. thx.

It is nice and small server that do the basic well. I once use it on my poor $5 vps while being stuffed together with several of my PHP/MySQL apps. It has small footprint, several of my friends still use it on half-gigs ram vps.
But its lack of features sucks tho, there are no working filters, no disable re-toot per users setting (like on akkoma), and also there are no relay support so my timeline looks bare.
I migrate from GtS for now, but if above features are implemented in near future, may be I'll migrate back to GtS.

And yes, we can meke new instances that support our beliefs and that doesnt censor our speech, but then again we dont have an evenly distributed userbase.

I think evenly distributed userbase is not necessary on fediverse as long as users has choice to get what they want. Both admins and normal users are also users, they can desire anything, both good and bad. Any admin that wish bad things will see their instance lost users and defederated by the rest of fediverse and any users that disagree with admin choices can move to the other instaces or set up their personal instance. It happens a lot on microblogging-style part of fediverse, a lot of users okay with that and community wise, it is more or less stable there.

nah, I'm bit regretting not signing up on their instance. sh.itjust.works is a cool name and can be a brag point. lol. lemmy world is a bit too generalist, but I won't migrate there as ruud (the admin of lemmyworld) is doing a good job managing the instance. I appreciate that. :)

I'm live on rural area on some third world country. Public transport's schedule is random or non-existent for us, it is the norm to wait between 15 minutes to 1 hour for a public transport car to pick us. That is why we usually use our own vehicle to commute.

I change the setting on my home feed into subscribe + new comment. Works well for me. All hot posts still takes chunk of first 10 on my homefeed, but really new post is not that far down the line...

I use a cheap android phone (<$120 when I bought it 3 years ago). I protect it with cheap case + Hydrogel screen protector. I'm satisfied with Hydrogel type screen protector as it still on good condition even after my phone falls screenfirst many times. There are many scratches right now on the screen protector, but it still usable and not annoying as most scratches located on the edge of screen. Most of them caused by falling sceenfirst to gravel ground and asphalt several times.. lol.
