I'm Sascamooch, and this is my Lemmy instance.

I prefer subdomains, personally. A lot of services expect to run on the root of the web server, so although you can sometimes configure them to use a path, it's kind of a pain.

Also, migrating services from one server to another will be a lot easier with subdomains since all you have to do is change the A and AAAA records. I use ZeroTier for a lot of my services, and that's really nice since, even if I move a container to another machine, the container's ZeroTier IP address will stay the same, so I don't even need to update DNS. With paths, migration would involve a lot more work.

This is so sad. Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?

What is the Krabby Patty secret formula?

The live action Super Mario Bros movie.

I know it doesn't meet the "post 2000's" rule, but I saw it for the first time a couple years ago, so I think it still counts. I don't think it was a very good Mario movie since it took A LOT of creative liberties with the source material (tbf, there wasn't a lot to work with in 1993), but as its own thing, I enjoyed it for what it was. Definitely expected a lot worse when going into it.

Speech recognition. Being able to tell your computer what to do, and it actually does it, just feels like something straight out of SciFi. It is a shame that Alexa, Google Assistant, etc. ended up being such privacy nightmares, but hopefully projects like Rhasspy can help change that.

Oh, thanks for explaining. That ending was pretty confusing, but I think I understand it now.

I'd have to play it before forming a proper opinion, but I think it sounds like a fun idea. I'd definitely give it a try.

Don't trust the raccoons. They're up to something.

55 inch 4K Scepter TV + Saiyin soundbar and subwoofer. I bought this setup about a month ago for less than $400 and it's been pretty good so far

Haha, pretty much. The only difference is with Absurdle, you'll eventually get it right.

I'm using a Ramnode VPS since I had some unused credit I wanted to use up. 2 vcpu, 1 GB ram, and 35 GB ssd.

Seems to be working well enough so far, but right now it's just me. If I open up to more users, I might need to upgrade, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Edit: I may have spoke too soon; had to reboot the server due to low memory. Hopefully a swap file will alleviate that a bit, but I might have to upgrade the RAM on this server. We'll see.

As much as I enjoy self hosting my own services, email just seems like more trouble than it's worth. I let Protonmail take care of that for me.

I use a Pixel 5 with MicroG Lineage OS. I like it quite a bit: it's fast, has good battery life, and thanks to Lineage OS, it doesn't spy on me (as much). I do miss having an SD card slot and headphone jack, but those are hard to find anywhere these days, unfortunately.

I don't have a specific upgrade schedule: I upgrade phones when the need arises. My last phone (Nexus 6) was showing its age: it was slow, the battery struggled to hold a charge, and the USB port was worn out. Switching to Lineage OS and a wireless charger helped with these problems somewhat, but it was still time for an upgrade. My phone before that (Droid Razr M) was stuck in a boot loop, so had to upgrade that, as well.

I have an iPad 3 sitting around somewhere, but otherwise, not much of an Apple person. I try to use Linux whenever possible (I know Android isn't a traditional GNU/Linux system, but with Lineage OS and Termux, it's close enough for me).

I walked to Burger King. Then I walked back home from Burger King.

Xonotic is a fun quake-like shooter. Highly recommend.

Gotta admire the consistency.

I use Tiddlywiki. I've been liking it so far.

Thanks dude. Always a helpful reminder.

Xserver's code base would be a great hiding place, for sure.

I'd like to use rootless podman, but since I include zerotier in my containers, they need access to the tunnel device and net_admin, so rootless isn't an option right now.

Podman-compose works for me. I'd like to learn how to use Ansible and Kubernetes, but right now, it's just my Lemmy VPS and my Raspberry Pi 4, so I don't have much need for automation at the moment. Maybe some day.

I used to dual boot Linux & Windows, but these days, gaming on Linux works just fine. Granted, I don't play any hardcore multiplayer games that might have iffy anticheat or anything, but even modern games work with little to no issue.

First thing that comes to mind is RocketJump's video Milk Man: World's Worst Superhero. Essentially, his power is drinking and regurgitating milk. While this sounds lame, he actually manages to disarm and incapacitate the robber, fly, and give the distressed citizen a nice, refreshing beverage. Sounds pretty useful to me.

Now, only one question remains: Got Milk?
