I travel a lot and I swear I've never seen the same shower design twice. There's so many different freakin' ways to deliver a stream of water to your head and they nearly all require some level of finessing. I'm assuming it all stems from an 1800s court case about patents but fuck that judge and everyone involved that day

Absolutely, this return to office stuff has been an absolute gift for CEOs wanting to downsize, it's the perfect fluffy PR way to turn the thumbscrews. Factor in the popular idea that you're a slacker if you don't work hard all the time and you basically have public support too.

I'm sure plenty of people will just suck it up and view the past few years as a very extended break from office nonsense and commuting hassle, but enough will jump ship to fill quotas

I leave it on, the suggestions are good as far as I can tell. What's everyone's beef with it?

I don't get the YouTube hate in general. It's much more interesting than Netflix or TV so I'm happy to pay, although I pay Argentina rates courtesy of subscribing while connected to my VPN and I use Sponsor Block to skip the in-video ad reads. It still counts

If an app asks me to rate it, or checks what my rating is going to be before sending me to either a feedback form or Google Play, depending on my response, then it instantly gets a 1 star review

I think all these other countries only care about the fact that India has a burgeoning middle class and is going to become the next consumption led market. Everyone has too much of their own stuff to deal with at the moment, but they love the idea of huge cohort of new customers over the coming decades, regardless of who's in charge

Not to take away from your post, which is nuanced and interesting. But I think the buck stops at the economics for most

SmartTube is some of the greatest software ever made

They voted for Selena Meyer too

European here. A friend of mine bought a house in Cairns a while back. Is it an area that's known to have problems with wildfires? I realised this is a vague question but she was asking me about whether or not she should sell the house based on the global financial situation, but she never mentioned wildfires. I assume she's factoring it in based on the insane wildfires you guys had a couple of years back but you can never be sure

I was gonna say Jet Set Radio Future too. I absolutely love the cel shading art style. Will check out Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, thanks

Nut rice, gawd

Not to ruin the moment here or anything but this is the first properly funny comment I've seen on Lemmy. I used to spend most of my time on Reddit just hunting around for funny comments so I feel like the transition is now complete, so thanks

Most of the countries that are deciding to join recently are getting absolutely eviscerated by the dollar when it comes to foreign exchange, they all have very weak currencies because the dollar is just so incredibly strong relative to everywhere else.

It's a lot more complicated than just that, but that definitely seems to be a catalyst at the moment

I suspect that these big corporations were advised by banks and the government to scale back work from home policies to avoid triggering a real estate market collapse in cities by vacating expensive office space en masse. This could cause defaults by landlords and a housing crisis as workers no longer need to pay premiums to live near offices. An exodus from cities would crater housing markets, which would severely damage the overall economy. Thus corporations are pushing for office returns to shed some staff but also to avert an economic crisis, despite the cost savings of remote work

Thailand is full of western roid-heads and they have a decent online presence. Vigorous Steve on YouTube is a good starting point

Yeah, there's definitely a big sunk cost thing going on too

The only way I have found to get reliable IPTV services is to post on local Facebook groups. There is invariably a few middle-aged guys who can't spell properly and who can you "mate" who will know which service works best in your area and be resellers of said service. A few 24-hour trials and you can usually figure out what suits you best.

Surely this is satire?

Exactly, it's total garbage. I've been training the algo for years, no way I'm giving that up

Heathrow is literally 1984, I hate the place

I use EPG dot best. They're an EPG provider who give you lots of detailed information about each channel and show/movie and nice clean logos and everything.

You can filter large EPG files from your IPTV provider into much smaller ones that only include the channels you actually watch. The smaller EPG file means that the app uses less RAM on my Nvidia Shield too

It's not free and it's kinda finicky to set up, with a weird workflow, but it works well once that's done

They're probably just leveraging the good will they have as the plucky underdog. I personally found the app clunky and that the videos loaded really slowly, but I don't blame them for offering a lifetime subscription.

Either that, or it's just price anchoring and they weren't expecting anyone to spend $300, but it made the other options look cheaper

Have you tried Pi? It's pretty amazing!

And Claude might help with your writers block if you ask for ideas

She's a native of Port Douglas originally so she's been up to her ears in reef stuff for a while. Thanks for the response, seems like it's a good spot for now

What version on Linux is most like Windows? I'm not a gamer and nearly everything I do runs in a browser so compatibility isn't going to be an issue, but any time I've tried to migrate over it's been a nightmare of weird errors and non-stop troubleshooting

Hahaha, thanks

Which soap? I've been using Dove for everything for the past few years. Apart from the fact that it's really handy for travelling I've never had any issues with using it as both shampoo and normal soap but maybe I'm doing it wrong and I should have dedicated conditioner and shampoo

None. I use Premiumize with Plex for fast downloads and a Netflix style interface once I have the content. And IPTV if I want to watch movie channels

Looks like Cinnamon is the way to go, thanks. I'll give it a spin tomorrow, thanks for your help

Plenty of good info there, thanks for the thorough response. I'll probably go the live USB route, which I'd forgotten was a thing. That way any hardware issues should be apparent pretty quickly
