It's a fair question, but you're probably getting downvoted because you "feel like people are really throwing that term around a lot and it’s kind of concerning". People are throwing the term around a lot because of all the fascism, and the fact that you find the term more concerning than the actual fascism is a bad look.

Back in 2006/2007 I was reading Slashdot for tech news and stuff. I started noticing that a lot of newer content was just linking to Reddit posts, so I figured I'd cut out the middleman and jumped ship to Reddit.

"I got mine, you get fucked," part X of N?

"Will delivering the Death Star plans to the Rebellion help the Empire tighten its grip on local star systems? So far it seems to be paying off."

"So I Married An Axe Murderer." If you have the means, I highly recommend watching it!

Yo.

Cops being corrupt, huge surprise there. Glad they're going down for once, though.

Being able to act hypocritically, flout the rules and regs, and get away with it is political Viagra to these assholes. It's what they live for. It's impossible to "catch them" in flagrant acts of hypocrisy because the act of you noticing them being douchebags but not being able to stop them gives them massive power boners.

I was trying to figure out which mine was and, folks... is The Man From Snowy River a Mad Max prequel?? I'm so confused now.

We were almost at the "Praetorian Guards Decide Who Rules" stage of the Fall of the American Empire; they just didn't have the numbers this time.

Ironic, since they're definitely going to make Plan B illegal too.

What political office does he hold?

Because these conservative judges are in the bag for the GOP and see an opportunity to hurt two groups of people they really hate:

  1. Democrats,
  2. Students. Edit: IANAL, just really pissed off.
