I use keepassxc, works well for me.

Imo, downvotes is just a disagreement. Being offended by it sounds like a "you" problem, we all have to deal with it.

Upvotes normally give me answers I need for at that moment. Downvotes makes me reassess myself.

I dont think you must read to much into the downvotes. Understand the situation why people might have downvoted you, understand why other people get upvoted, assess the situation. And most of all, understand that not everybody will always agree with you

Would start off with linux mint cinnamon edition, imo it is the easiest way to transition to linux, and dont be afraid to play around with linux. Go make mistakes, it is the best way to learn from

Atari, tanks

Lolz, it is crazy what one needs to do to prevail sanity these days

I like your thinking, I have a dual boot on laptop with windows 11 and LMDE installed, and its been a while since I booted to windows for personal use. Unfortunately for me I am still dependant of windows until Autodesk decides they will create the software I use for the linux environment as well. Until then, I'll rock on with personal "freedom" of linux, while I'm a slave to the corporate / microsoft

I was also thinking it, but the thought of "building your walls up so high, that you eventually don't know what is really happening around you" might become problematic. I am still thinking of how to implement it, I think such a projects is worth the effort, especially if you have full control of what you want to view.

If you do use any debian distro, nala is a great way to update your packages.

Even lemmy.word, at least for me was difficult to join. I have a hard time to log into the account I have created there. I think we must understand this is not redit, the platform is fundamentally different how you approach it. The fuller the server gets, the more difficult it gets to get into your account.

"UPD: Sorry. I read the reddit post. So you pass through single GPU. You load GPU bios when Windows load?"

  • I haven't done that. I was of opinion that the radeon rx6800 didn't need it as nvidia does. Will download a bios and load it with the Vm.

"In general, such a configuration will be quite complicated, but if you want to try, show the VM configuration and the start hook. Without this not easy to say."

  • I reverted back to pre-virtmanager installation, will try this evening to follow the steps, including adding the bios to the VM, will also post the configurations and hooks. Will appreciate it if I don't need to dual boot anymore, having snapshot of my windows VM will be of great value for my workflow

I think South Africans need to be very mindful of what is currently happening. I believe there is more than what the naked eyes see, here is a few perspectives of some pod casters that have interviewed quite a few people this past year or two:

At the end of the day, you need to do your own research and validate what is truth. Be wise and be blessed

I guess if you have a new laptop, I can imagine that with newer kernels than what is debian based, that said before debian 12 recently came out. I'm personally a bit worried of recommending "corporate funded" distros, help me if I'm wrong, but what heppened with RHEL, I can't stop thinking it will happen with fedora.. It is just my opinion/fear

Thunder works for my as a android user. Early days though

For me its history repeats itself with dos and msdos.

That will be a welcoming change, cant wait for lmde6 to arrive

Lemons;)

First time hearing of that, how does it compare with autocad?

Brickscad might be the only "proper" cad solution out there imo

I normally use timeshift only to snapshot the system on a daily basis, and if I am not certain what my "fiddling" will do with my operating system, I make a manual snapshot on timeshift before I proceed with what I will do.

In your case I'll copy anything that is important you have, and restore to a earlier version you know it works and call it a truce, after that, I'll suggest just to snapshot your system and not home folder

3 more...

A wiped ssd, damn... what os were you running? Maybe you have to go to the linux mint forum. They are maintaining the timeshift app, maybe you can get advice from them. Good luck

What engineering software do you use with bottles?

Selfhosted or not, you can also make keepassxc portable with a usb drive.

Here is a old thread from redit explaining how to do it:

Dude.... KeepassXC has portables for linux, there is no need to mess with wine or mono. As long as you have both portable versions of KeepassXC, you will not have a problem. You can totally have your database sync between OSs.

  • For Linux, just get the AppImage for the portable.
  • For Windows, get the Portable ZIP archive.
  • Shove them both into a USB, you have KeepassXC portable for both OSs on a stick.

I guess you can run fedora if you want full features of a laptop. Im currently running LMDE5, is rock solid for me this past 2+ years, upgraded seamlessly from LMDE4. I guess LMDE6 will be released soon after LM 21.2 is released. I do think that at the end of the day , whatever you choose, you can change your desktop environment so it suites you.
