The weather will be more like a monkeys paw....u wish for a bit more rain....here is some floods instead..
Plis adding extra fuel tanks in spota for cargo/pilot etc. prob helps and striping it off anything unnecessary like seats breaks etc...
This a really bad take. Seawater deal with RO is a marvel of efficiency, only 2-3 times above the thermodynamic limit of demixing water from salt. It does not really generate toxic waste like coal fired power plants, but does produce lots of brine with various organics (antiscalants, surfactants etc.) that are not that great. The key issue is water is very cheap from traditional sources (surface water and groundwater) and requires rather crude treatment to be usable, resulting in very low cost. Hence why desal is used in areas where they have no choice. If you don't have surface/ground water source or brackish water source you are doing seawater deal or leave the area....not many choices. At least RO is electrified so it can use renewables but that does not really solve the much higher cost...or issue of brine generation, with zld have a set of it's own issues costs....
Exactly this...in new cars its not the transmission or engine failure that causes it to be junked but rather all the rubber/ plastic bits going to shit and costing an arm and a leg to replace...
Because many ppl that earn that kind of cash live in high col area...where ur expenses eat up everything unless u are dual income. In bay area u pay 3k a month for an apartment...and food/gas bills easely add up to 2k....its rough...
CO2 to syngas to hydrocarbon fuels is probably a better carbon zero process, considering we will need to do a ton of cdr anyway....although doubt energetics and economics would be great. Hydrogen, just like biofuels today are anything but carbon neutral, and efficient electrolysis might never happen. Hydrogen production will also face water shortage issues and in general electrolysis requires pretty low tds water which is not trivial to source...not sure what's best way to get carbon zero airplanes honestly...
I think the concern is with emissions from burn up process as well as launching rockets to replace said satellites. Do wonder what ends up being prdouced/deposited in the atmosphere during burn up and how it compares to natural objects?
I mean what do ppl expect, it looks like it has normal road tires and weighs probably at 5 k pound... Any truck with that weight/tire setup would struggle...not defending tesla but the expectations are quiet off...
Switched to tidal as got fedup with Spotify shit app quality, constant breaking when usieng Android auto, and glitching out when playing between pc/android. Tidal is better but missing things. My wife loves alexa integration..so she sticking with Spotify. I am enjoying tidal though. It just works evey time. Its clear why it stops playinga song, and so on. I would rather miss featurs then use buggy product. Spotify is full of random featurs and crap but its buggier then ever...
One other stark difference is the qulaity of of mixes and radio stations tidal puts together..spotify plays same stuff on loop basically, i rarely got anything good thats new and not promoted artist...with tidal i get a huge mix of artists in mymixes and radios, both new and old stuff..its been better for discovery then Spotify.
Would that also help with insane amount of mines, trenches and dumb ww2era weapons Russian is using to hold ground. Which seems to be the crux of the issue. Just like Ukrain shown, holding ground and digging in seems to be very effective strategy that might only be overcome with sheer numbers (and death...). Ukraine hope was finding a weak point in defense and punching through, but it seems that there are no real "weak" points so far. The question is, can allies provide Ukrain with weapons that can help with breaking through current defenses? So far it seems traditional weapons however advanced, don't solve the issue of dumb mines, trenchs, and dug in positions for either side..
They can also leverage regen due to constant stopping, don't get high drag penalty due to low speeds, etc. seems like good application for EV. Makes no sense as you said.
This sound like a take from some one who never tried vr games or used a vr headset... Once you use even current quest 2/3 you will quickly realize the possibilities and advantages vr can have...the issue is the tech is still not quiet there yet for average consumer (and it was not even close for last 20 years for sure)...we need better compact graphics processing units, and denser screens with better optics designs..these will all happen in time. Assuming we don't die from global warming or ww3. Once the hurdle of high cost/low dpi/relatively limited processing power of now is overcome, vr/ar will be defacto standard for PC gaming and work, as using fixed screens will be inefficient/more expensive. I would use my quest pro for work if it had 40% higher dpi/clarity and I cn easily see the tech getting there in 2-3 years time. Mobile GPU power will take a decade to run games with graphics of today ( I am referring to stand alone headsets, as pcvr is to cumbersome for casual gaming, this will improve with better software and wifi development but wifi 6 is bearly good enough today, so we likely see wifi7 come along and usher in dedicated headsets with console coupling (e.g. wireless VR headset + PlayStation ) (better mobile processors for faster decoding will help a ton as well). Vr/Ar will continue to grow and once it gets critical mass will explode as we are seeing with electric cars.
This seems to be a key point ppl miss. There is still quiet a big question if cdr and storage can be net negative...for example one place we want to store co2 is in saline basins, but this will require disposal and treatment of the brines removed from the basin...which might emit might end up emmiting as much co2 as ends up being stored in the saline basin. There is a paper on this issue....
I am woundering when russia decides to use tactical nukes in Ukraine. - the way they are gonnna spin the last terrorist attack( assuming its not an inside job..prob is.) sure does not give me warm fuzzy feelings about their desparation....
Best tool for assembling and making journal quality figures. Excited for performance improvements, hopefully it will help when with complex svgs with ton of objects.
The question on my mind is at what temp will global economy and our current civilization start to implode, as at that point we will probably stop emmiting as people, cities and possibly states literally die off....and than will probably be the new norm...
I think most ppl agree that cops particularly hate ppl of color...but we should all agree that cops are enemies of all ppl, regardless of color...
I'm sure china is trying to use russia as a bargaining chip. So its in thier inerest to keep the russian war going, while milking what ever they can get from europe/usa. I just wounder what they think they will get from eruope/usa. Or be offered to stop supporting russian war effort?
Or they want to actually have something that has a chance of working before doing it again...I doubt installing one of these things is a walk in the park and every install carries a high risk ... I sure hope patient #2 is getting something with a possible fix...
This boox palma is a thing... https://shop.boox.com/products/palma not sure how good of a phone it is though
Oh I don't mean to imply you can do or have to do anything.. Haha. Sorry if it came off that way. Just making depressing comments...
I remember being at aiche conference in 2018 I think, and there was a keynote speaker that helped draft the Paris agreement, talking about need to reduce co2 emissions and how they got their projections. Thus speaker was followed by speaker (VP of production or something) from Chvron or Shell and they basically presented that they see minimal to no change in oil demand or production, EVs will minimally reduce global consumption of oil and effectively for next 100 years they project business a usual for the most part...it was extremely depressing as I believe projections Shell/Chevron as they have the power behind them to maintain them, while the scientific community has to convince the average public to enact laws... Depressing...
It is...
It's not really a sensor issue, as much as having software that can interpret the sensor data and act on it. Cameras and lidar effectively provide same thing, distance to objects in 2d/3d. But u need software to process that data and identify where the road is, where little jonny is, and what to do...arguably, the distance measuring problem has been solved for a while with lidar or with cameras, it's object identification and reaction to that info that's not solved. You can't really solve it with traditional if/else programming, while AI gives you only a probability of what something is or what action to do...so the problem is hard.
But ntsb/dmv whatever needs to come up with a way to test and classify autonomous driving software...probably doing real world test and identifying edge cases where it fails.
Well the big shaft of the lolly might be just around the corner, enjoy it while it lasts, I'm sure it will enjoy you when the time comes....depressing...
That makes sense. Hopefully Ukrain gets the agms, and manages to breakthrough. I think that's the only hope, as I agree with others that the west will get tired and start to slow down support for Ukrain which will eventually lead to Russian victory. It become a war of attrition, if Ukraine manage breakthrough or outlast Russian ability to put ppl to grinder then they will manage to win, but honestly it feels as though Putin is ready to put everything on the line to win this...
These are more fun then lipos... I wounder if u pack a tesla full of these..will it manage to achive escape velocity after a crash? I mean gas cars and lithium batteries right now just turn car into lots fo smoke and flames..but these might really change how we see crashes...
Edit: I feel like I need to add an /s somewhere...the amout of serious replies to this comment are concerning 🤦
Microsoft office... Only thing keeping me on windows...and vr games...
In academia it's common to use word and that means if we are writing papers all the PIs are using it...google docs is better for collab...but would prefer open source solution. Issue is none of the open source word type software play well with Microsoft word...for obvious reasons... (the moment u got figures and formatting it all goes to shit...i mean even word struggles to keep word documents correctly formated between versions of it self) fml.
Another issue is many ppl are just not technically apt or are able to problem solve, so many times they dont know what key words to use for finding a repair guide on google... It almost like a mental block for many...
My hopes of flying cars has been dashed 😐
I think that's the joke on Lemmy as poster below !whooosh@lemmy.world
The question is whats the cost of living for their area...87k can be amazing in middle of no where, but can also mean you live in a garage if you are in bay area...
