Lemmy grew too fast, got many more eyes.
Step 1 is getting a security focus group selected from the people who contribute code to lemmy.
Just like the admins and coders volonteer their time, security specialists will too, money might be needed, but that is not in the the first steps.
I get it, but isn't it amazing that the Germans embraced the fediverse!
They rule when the US is asleep.
Edit, solution for OP: https://kbin.social/m/kbinMeta/t/113150/-/comment/449092
I can follow him on kbin.
https://kbin.social/u/@mosseri@threads.net/posts
Interoperability was the purpose of activitypub. I'm not oppossed to Meta , Tumblr and wordpress joining the fediverse.
As long as I can use an open source community platform.
Anything new is scary
Reddit is complicated, they just forgot.
The digg users said reddit was ugly and they would never use such an ugly site.
I tried explaining reddit to a diehard forum user, why are all the replies out of order? why are upvotes changing the posting order? this is so complicated!
Don't explain, tell them where to start and how to start. then it explains itself.
They like Stalin, Putin , Xi and Kim. And defend everything they do.
Like WTF? How can a communist defend putin!?
Using a game controller is not that unusual.
but it was wireless, that is bad.
My normal YT algorithm was ok, but shorts tries to pull me to the alt-right.
I had to block many channels to get a sane shorts algorythm.
"Do not recommend channel" really helps
The posts itself are not rulebreaking, but i could be wrong.
But the reply here is breaking the rules
https://kbin.social/m/antiwoke/t/101045/Time-to-reject-the-extreme-trans-lobby-harming-our-society
That's mostly the problem with those posts, while not rule breaking, they are hate magnets.
If the moderator refuses to properly moderate the comments this would be a proper reason for a ban.
Mastodon's privacy issues are just the same as the rest of the fediverse/threadiverse.
With federation there is more openness, transparency and accountability. Take care of your privacy, use alts.
We're working with alfa and beta software.
Ideally the mods could set the default language on the magazine/community, there are a few english communities on feddit.de
And with prefs you could select to hide certain languages.
I would like to see some numbers first. Donations work fine for mastodon.
Edit : here are mastodon.world financials https://blog.mastodon.world/
It's hiding kbin magazines. There should be no difference between kbin magazines and lemmy communities when searching and exploring.
And they could fix this if they wanted to.
Reddit chose to be non profitable in order to kill off all internet forums.
It's reddit that's changing the terms, not mods acting up.
Do you remember weapons of mass destruction?
US Intelligence is sometimes politically motivated. It's hard to tell without any specifics. For example : does "Hospitals" include this hospital?
spez chose to act like Musk on Twitter. Then he'll get Musk results.
He has 35 out of 150 seats/23%, He'll need to compromise.
Forming a coalition will take a long time.
You do know that you can visit kbin from lemmy, and lemmy from kbin? You don't have to choose 1 of the 2.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Their instances just publish to the fediverse, they don't allow civilian accounts on their server. This is usefull, any accounts from there are guaranteed to be official.
Use alts, switch accouts after 1 year or 1000 posts.
As a person you evolve, the shit you said 10 years ago does not represent you right now.
He wrote that the jews are responsible for the great replacement conspiracy theory, how is that not antisemitic?
I've seen that "problem" a lot, but they give away the source code for free as proper communists should do, and then it's out of their hands. Just don't go to lemmygrad.ml.
syncing to other lemmy's and kbins is not that big of a problem if you're popular, the first subscriber from an instance will be quick
you mod everything on the main instance.
Visit a few Ukraine threads, it's one of the topics the fanatics pile on.
My point was that tankies are a "special" subset of communists.
Just communicate with the kbin developers a lot, ernest did disable the api for now because he might change it.
hexbear joined limited federation, that's about 80% of that graph
lemmy uses /c/ kbin uses /m/
I subscribed to the lemmy, it's here : https://kbin.social/m/legaladviceuk@feddit.uk
With how federation works only new posts from now on will be synchronised, not the history.
It's open source code, so it can allways be forked.
That mostly takes care of 2 and 3, there is no need to rush.

Is this a mod or modteam of a few communities, or is it a global mod outside of community mods?
I'm not shure how to read the modlog.
Seems so,
There will never be a vote, it's just a smokescreen.
Interesting, from a GDPR perspective this is unacceptable.
Pondering about a proper GDPR complaint.
some of my old reddit accounts might have > 1000 comments.
Any news on this? It's till broken.
I'm not shure, there are a few good arguments against plain blocking of Meta.
This article is mostly against federating
https://privacy.thenexus.today/should-the-fediverse-welcome-surveillance-capitalism/
it does highlight contra's:
John Gruber describes the Anti-Meta Pact as "petty and deliberately insular" and suggests that the whole point of ActivityPub is to turn social networking into something more akin to email, which he describes as "truly open."1
Tristan Louis says "The anti-Meta #Fedipact can only achieve one thing: make sure that #ActivityPub loses to the Bluesky protocol."2
Dan Gillmor suggests that "preemptively blocking them -- and the people already using them -- from your instance guarantees less relevance for the fediverse."
I am willing to learn,
Ok , this is the Musk strategy:
When in trouble?: throw shit at the wall and see what sticks, it distracts the people from the main issue.
The main issue now is his endoresement of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White\_genocide\_conspiracy\_theory
They're not keeping the money:
"He said the bank informed Jones’ company that it would be sending a cashier’s check for the total balance."
I boosted you from kbin, and I have a follower on mastodon.world.
Therefore you have a toot federated to mastodon.world : https://mastodon.world/@CylonBunny@lemmy.world/110596451235144258
our priorities are not "fediverse first" or "ActivityPub first", they're Beehaw first.
Ok, that's where I'm in another camp, and that's ok, we can disagree on goals.
It's possible, but there is no reason at all to have the kbin magazines separate from the communities.
They all federate the same, so why not list them all the same.
A single shitposter, with only downvoted posts. without attention they would have stopped posting, but now it has attention.
While the content is stupid and vile, is he breaking any rules?
