Grew up in the 80s and 90s. As progressive and openminded as I thought I was then...holy shit there are a lot of words and phrases I won't touch any more because they sound archaic, racist, mysoginistic, or hateful today. Back then they were perfectly acceptable everyday things no one would bat an eye at. It does make me happy that at least in this small arena we seem to have made progress as a society.

(Should add that this is from a US perspective)

They also discussed how students with higher grades had a better chance of going to college, while those with lower grades had a higher chance of going to jail, getting shot or getting killed, parents told The Daytona Beach News-Journal.

Although there was no intended malice involved

Yeah, what harm could come from making a gradeschooler think about getting shot or going to jail every time they take a test? I'm sure it will provide great motivation instead of turning the poor kids into nervous wrecks.

I keep asking myself this every time the christofascists win a supreme court case.

The majority of US citizens believe in legal abortion but, hey here we are!

“The CIA apparently believes that it is not subject to federal law,” Byrnes said.

First time?

I have 4 kilts and wear them to work when I want to, almost as a dare to management so I can retire off a lawsuit. Utilikilts and Verillas have great kilts with pockets for workin' men that like a pretty skirt.

My favorite part of Libertarianism is that Saint Rand collected Social Security.

It exemplifies the shameless selfishness of the libertarian philosophy and really links well with the conservative mindset of "I got mine, fuck you".

Sounds more like people didn't want to change forms which is even fucking more sad.

I'm ok now but for many years anything coconut would roil my stomach. Thank you Malibu rum.

My guess is they're wiping karma so everyone starts at 0 for the rewards program.

I think you should follow that last sentence with a description of why that matters. I know by inference, but some may miss your point that by "killing any dog that pisses them off" they were selectively breeding for obedience to the alpha to the exclusion of all else. And then maybe extrapolate on how that trait translates into fierce loyalt to one individual which makes everything else a potential target for attack.

I'm not British but I just say "cheers mate" to everyone. Works for me.

Then, when in a position to pay it forward, they said no.

No, no, no, they "pulled themselves up by their own bootstraps" and made it where they are through "hard work" [read: government provided ladders of socialist policies] and so should we [because they pulled up all the ladders behind them while screaming about socialism being evil, despite the huge amount of benefit they personally enjoyed].

Missouri resident here. We only got medical and recreational marijuana legalized through ballot initiatives because we have a backward state leglistaure like you! Minority rule sucks.

Good question, still working on it.

yarr

Anything directed by Uwe Boll but especially Bloodrayne. It was so bad the actors stopped recording the commentary to get up and go get more wine to finish.

Listen here, buddy!

Don't forget about bangs for searching alternate sites: https://duckduckgo.com/bangs !w = wikipedia, !e = ebay, !zillow = guess, !r = reddit, etc

Just put your bang in front of the rest of the search you want to do on that site: !g why doesn't Google use bangs? !ddg Why does Duck Duck Go use bangs?

40th birthday twofer. Mom gave me a Kenner power droid still in its packaging that she'd saved since my childhood. One of my friends followed that with the rancor in its box.

Oh, I'm definitely planning on testing the limits of my newfound freedom of speech through religious expression.

Considering founding a religion that bars wearing shirts and shoes in public buildings. Then we can have a splinter group that can ONLY enter buildings while armed, good luck getting those guys to court without violating their civil rights!

I'd put just a bit more distance in there. Trap, to me, implies bait or deception being used to lure something or someone into a place or situation of your design.

Jack Smith did not design the situation that the defense team placed themselves in. I am reasonable sure he's overjoyed that they did.

The OP article does make a good case for exactly how that defense will fail in multiple ways, from a legal standpoint.

Not that the algorithms caters to nazis, but because they would have flagged Republicans as hate speech. As a resultn algorithms designed to combat hate speech, racism, white supremacy, and neo-nazism were atered down.

After that, though, fuck it.

And my axe!

Debriding a wound isn't quite the same as peeling off a scab. Worse, actually, as they're removing foreign objects and dead tissue mostly by wiping it away. This does prevent as much scar tissue from forming but is mostly to protect from infection and promote the remaining healthy tissue's growth.

Source: not a doctor, our son was hit by a car and we had to do this for the abrasions. First at the wound treatment clinic but then again later at home.

My neighbors got a kick out of seeing me doing yardwork in one. Until the novelty wore off, now it's just normal to them.

It always like that but when it is, is nice.

I have several (with pockets!) I have worn to the offices I've worked in. I especially like wearing them when I'm working in the garden and our yard.
