Was on Reddit for 11+ years. Apollo for the last few years. Quit cold turkey in June and honestly my life is better for it.

I’ve worked in the SaaS world for nearly a decade. I’ve never had an issue getting a new job every couple of years. The best path for promotions and salary increases in this world. I was unfortunately part of a layoff back in the summer, and I have never had such a hard time finding work in my life.

Every time I go to apply to a job that’s fairly new, I can see there are already a couple thousand applicants. Suddenly my decade of experience isn’t enough to land an interview, much less a job.

It. Sucks.

Let’s see those train pics, my dude! Let that conductor-freak flag fly here.

I have zero tips for you, but I love this post. Why does his house smell so bad? Has anyone mentioned it to him? So many questions.

Not me personally, but my grandpa was transferred out of Pearl Harbor a week before the attack. I often think about how some random person’s decision that many years ago created my entire family line.

I’m going to be honest here, it doesn’t sound like you even really know what you want. Annoying coworkers are an inevitable part of adult life. I have had a lot of jobs at many different companies, and you just learn how to fake nice and play as little of the office politics that you can. The best thing for you, I think, would be finding a remote job if that’s possible. There are a ton of remote positions now a days and that’s the best way to not have to interact with other people, save for zoom meetings.

Silo is fantastic. If you need another great show on Apple TV, watch Severance. It’s the best show I’ve seen in years.

Where I grew up, the nearest movie theatre was 45 min away, the nearest mall was 1:30 hrs away, and the airport was almost 2 hrs away. It would be impossible to not have a car there.

As someone who hasn’t sailed the 7 seas since PB and BitTorrent days. Is there a good guide on how to best utilize this now a days?

I literally pay for every single streaming service + YouTube tv and it’s ridiculous. Time to cut the cables again.

Seconded on this. Customer Service sucks when you start out because you have to deal with a lot of crap from people. However, if it’s something you’re good at, you can build a pretty decent career moving into Account Management or Customer Success Manager. I started out in a call center back in 2014, now I have a 6 figure salary as a CSM, and it’s easier than any job I’ve ever had.

I am an account manager in the SaaS (software as a service) world. I’ve been doing it about 10 years now, the last 4 have been fully remote. It’s a really easy job for the most part, I mainly just watch movies in the background all day. You just have to be good at time management and talking with clients/running meetings. I currently make around 6 figures doing this job. The best way to get into this is not glamorous, but I’d recommend starting in customer service which I think is pretty much remote these days. You may also take a pay cut starting out, not really sure what it pays nowadays, but it’s the best way to get into doing it without having a degree.

As someone who is diabetic, and took Ozempic, yea I lost weight. However I was visit-the-hospital sick for 5 weeks. Yes my A1C went down, but at the cost of not being able to eat, drink, or sleep for weeks on end. I will never ever take that medicine again.

In Ratcliffe's case, another consultant forensic psychiatrist found he has a mild form of autism and selective mutism

Never heard it put quite like that.

Oh it’s the same here in the US. I had to spend weeks fighting with insurance that I actually was diabetic and needed it. It’s a “fashionable” drug so it was hard for the people who actually need it to get it.

Best of luck to you too. I also just had my first child and moved across the country. Timing could not have been worse. I haven’t been to an office since the day they sent us home for “2 weeks” while covid calms down. I’ve started applying to local jobs, willing to give up remote work. Never thought I’d be willing to give that up.

I got into to Brandi Carlile because I kept hearing her songs and not knowing it was her. Each time I thought “damn, this is really good”, looking up the song and each time it was Brandi Carlile. That happened 3 times and I finally decided it was time to start listening to albums.

I can only speak to my experience, but I got lucky that “CSM” really started evolving as a role around me and I was basically already doing it, so it was an easy transition. That said, you’d need to go back to a customer facing role. I know there are Associate CSM roles now which I think is basically an entry-level csm role. It might be easier for you to start talking to people within the company you are currently at. If they know your experience and skills, it would be easier to go for a role change from training to csm. Once you have that first CSM role under your belt and on your resume, you’re in. Then just work your ways up the levels of csm.

Evil Genius 2 is really fun

Also a killer songwriter. His side project, Bad Books has a song called “Pyotr”, and it’s an incredible song.

This is cool, but wouldn’t it make any tire issue an engine issue and this way more expensive and difficult to deal with?

I’m always weary when I get pocket pairs
