Can you share example pictures what you mean?

There were plenty videos posted showing that reddit admins were using some tool that was just putting random patterns over it (they didn't even bother to make it look real, so it appeared all at once)

People who are engaging with it as a form a protest are just dumb. Reddit has full control over it so they can remove anything they don't like instantly.

Yeah, also anyone who claims that they didn't switch to mastodon because it is too confusing, must have serious learning disability. I can understand that Lemmy is harder than traditional reddit, because the problem is more complex and the service still need a lot of polish, but mastodon is very simple to use.

There's also "spez is a whore son", but I guess spez doesn't read German.

With ISP what is really need is Local-loop unbundling but extending to ISPs.

Those that are old enough to use DSL in early 2000, might remember there was a lot of ISPs to chose from. The reason for it was that due to Title II telco companies were required to lease lines to their competitors. When cable started to be popular, ISPs lobbied politicians to categorize it under Title I which removed that requirement. We got Internet back to be categorized as Title II, but this specific rule was excluded and this is what is necessary to bring the competition.

As a parent I rather not have government tell me what is approved thing and what's not. I'm not LGBT and not interested in drag shows but honestly the whole thing is blown out of proportion.

I find it ridiculous that countries like Poland are heavily against LGBT, then the same people will turn on TV to watch cabaret (note the meaning in US is different than in Europe) and watch male comedians dressed as women for comedic effect (e.g. https://youtu.be/iM87cjLCCwI?t=63)

Intel Management Engine is a component that has access to your computer on a level that even you, the computer owner, don't have access to. It can be operated remotely, even when your computer is off.

And traditionally you can't even disable it (remember, you're not the trusted party in that mix).

The whole fiasco motivated me to create mastodon account. The crazy thing is that I never used Twitter.

Also I don't get why people are complaining that mastodon is difficult. It seems to me is quite simple, or am I missing something?

Actually right now even democracy is considered a dirty word, they even say that US isn't democracy, but a republic (ignoring what republic is).

They already started conditioning their minions, that dictatorship isn't really all that bad.

The ironic thing is that the primary reason why communism is bad is that it normally comes together with totalitarism, and that's what they essentially arguing for.

It is notoriously hard to replicate things in labs, especially with material science.

This was attempt to do it within 2 days of the paper being published.

To add to that, the original researchers apparently had 10% successes rate in their lab, they wanted to perfect it before publishing their paper.

Bad luck was that it leaked, so to make sure somebody else doesn't get credit for their work they published what they had within hours.

It likely will take months before this will be verified.

You know what the kicker is? He got those charges for fighting to stay in that "FILTHY, DIRTY, FALLING APART, & VERY UNSAFE" city.

Look like Qnuts were right about pizza gate after all, they just messed up few small details.

Russia doesn't need Ukraine on its own, they need Ukraine to get access Poland, Romania and Moldova.

They already switched into war time production, and if they manage to get Ukraine they only need a year or two to replenish all military equipment.

People really underestimate Russia and that's the worst thing you can do to get caught pants down. If Russia senses there's a chance to succeed they will move on.

Another thing the West seems to be ignoring is that they think the war is just what is happening in Ukraine, when the majority of their operation is disinformation, subversion, and destabilization.

The popularity of far right politicians (who for some reason are friendly toward Kremlin) or BRExit shows how effective it is.

I love when FCC at least appears to do something, not like under Shit Pai.

Frankly though they should revise Title II classification for the Internet and remove exception from the requirement to share last mile to competitors. This is the main reason there's almost no competition. It doesn't make sense for every single ISP to run lines to every home. Those lines should be leaseable.

Maybe some kind of write-off that only creative accountants know about?

US is not sending Ukraine pallets of money. When they talk about amounts of money, this is just the amount of money the equipment (which was mostly purchased decades ago) is estimated to cost.

As someone not familiar with the statue I was wondering why they were modifying it during the war, so this is how it originally looked like: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/6b/24/7b/6b247b685bd8d014d54d779fa0e7ec1b.jpg

And here is why it wasn't done earlier: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother\_Ukraine\_Monument#Decommunisation

Plus they have some code that allows them to interfere with the picture. The part that drawn spez under a guillotine received a checkerboard and also constantly had random pixels showing up.

Anyone who thinks they are protesting by it are fooling themselves.

Also if somebody was truly worrying reddit they likely removed their account. Asking to contributing is asking to create account back on the site we wanted to leave.

Exactly, their "crime" was just sending custom can to an influencer hoping she would promote it to their fan base. It's not like they create a special team's batch or something.

Anyway when this unexpectedly backfired they refused to back her up when she started getting hate mail, which also turned back her fans and right now everyone is bad at them.

They work in terminal. To me a more interesting question would be, why VSCode over PyCharm for Python for example.

You know admins can easily remove anything drawn there. They are trying to bring traffic back, because of the upcoming IPO.

Honestly I'm not as principled as some people but I noticed that I drastically reduced my presence there and it's going down. I think a lot might have to do that RiF is missing (unrelated, but RIF's author made a client for tildes.net called weirdly Three Cheers) and I refuse to install their spammy app.

So far the most benefiting entities politically are: Russia and China (US attention might be divided and be forced to divert funds to Israel), Netanyahu (Isreelis were very divided in his support, this raises up nationalism and helps him to do more).

That's exactly what it is trying to prevent. Basically you, as an user is not to be trusted, so the website and your own computer work together to prevent you from doing anything the site deems inappropriate, like spoofing things, blocking ads etc.

Yeah, it is the stereotypical glass cliff, with the twist that everyone knows that Elmo is still responsible for all decisions and she has nothing to say.

Because Elmo is that kind of genius.

Since I've been 12 years old once, I think she is perfectly capable of understanding explanation that it comes from adult game, and using it could attract possible pedophiles.

He shouldn't need to show the game or say more than that.

If you want to have choice in the future you should go with Firefox. Google is close to (or maybe already did) make Chrome equivalent of the Internet Explorer.

The better thing to what was with IE is that majority of websites still work fine in Firefox and people who stick to Chrome just do due to mostly ignorance.

The chairman of the House Oversight Committee on Monday said he and his colleagues still lack evidence proving that President Joe Biden took bribes while he was vice president during the Obama administration, despite months of investigation into his son, Hunter Biden.

Ah! I got it!

They were investigating the wrong person all this time. Common mistake.

Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.

It’s almost funny. Honestly, the only way I can see them regaining any trust at all is by a complete change in leadership and increased transparency and accountability.

so obviously it is not happening, and by the time the CEO is replaced it will be too late

Fascist? I was convinced it was communist, but honestly I never checked.

Why do we have fascists, communists (lemmygrad and lemmy.ml, actually many of them aren't even pro communism as they are pro Russia).

Why can't we have normal communities here?

Fuck that shit. The justice supposed to be blind. I can't believe he isn't already in arrest waiting for trial. If I did fraction what he did I don't think I would see the light of day.

I'm pretty sure it's a cult member, you might be right.

We are assuming they were alive when the plane lifted off.

That's the only way I can see happening that would preserve our democracy. A part of GOP is clearly for authoritarianism and that's not negotiable to them.

Did you try agent spoofing (which probably won't work in the future because of this). This sounds like things Microsoft (and now Google) does to make their product look better.
