Maemo and later Meego yes... I had a Nokia N900 and it was an awesome phone. Basically Debian in your pocket, easily accessible terminal with root etc.

It's not open source but it is easily rooted and you can install custom add-ons or even replace the os.

Well you could, it's just the usual pros and cons. How will you get momentum and community around the fork and how will you get a sufficient amount of instances to switch to a fork to have any impact. Not sure we're at that point yet.

Edit; checked the PR you referenced and it's just a stylistic issue apparently. While a bit pedantic imho, I think a fork reaction to this is overblown. It was merged later in another PR; https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/pull/2032

For me getting back into LEGO really helped, it's a nice and relaxing activity. Also depending on your interests a hobby like flying FPV quadcopters can be a lot of fun. Forces you to go outside too which is always good :-)

You could finally visit the only real Legoland in Billund of course!

Without a link to the PR you refer to this is a bit of a vague ticket. Did it work in a previous version? And if so, which version?

Also I think your tone is not constructive and you have to keep in mind that this is all open source software being quickly developed to deal with the huge influx of new users. It's good to create github issues for these things, I also agree that it's a silly bug if true but remember the human on the other side, they owe us nothing :-)

Haha thats awesome

Plan a day where some of the guys come in skirts. Bonus points if they are a bit too short. You'll see how quick they change that dresscode. Employers are not allowed (at least where I live in EU) to have such dresscodes based on gender, that's discrimination.. we were planning to do it at the place where I work a couple years ago but when management heard about it they changed the policy.

That's ridiculously exaggerated and you know it.

Aren't all Hue bulbs Zigbee? They have some WiFi or bluetooth models now I believe but afaik all of them support Zigbee with a bridge.

Might want to look into Linux :-)

In my opinion these parties are often mentioning valid issues or things that could be improved in society, and people vote for that. The problem is these parties don't really have solutions either, but that's something that doesn't show up until after the elections...

Using Calibre you could probably glue that together. I wouldn't want Android on an ereader personally.

It means "I am not a lawyer", usually at least ;-)

While I still use and sort of like Signal, I feel that dropping SMS support was the wrong choice and I don't like the direction they are going. They are also against federation which I also don't like. I've stopped recommending Signal to people.

Literally in the article, but yes he tried a couple of times already.

They won't. Most people just don't care at all unfortunately :(

It used to be required at a lot of camping pools because the longer shorts would take too much water out of the pool.. nowadays it's not often required anymore in my experience.

Ugh yes, and ban scooters and motors as well, they make such a ridiculous amount of noise compared to their speed.

You'd still be running Windows though so why bother

Perhap we should focus on cleaning up earth first :-)

Yes.

No it's not running Android.

Those are definitely all valid points, though I feel a bit of UI work making it abundantly clear that it's not encrypted in case of SMS and an option perhaps to fully disable SMS in settings if you really don't want it would have helped further adoption. I feel like they are optimizing for a rather small subset of users and thereby hurting the rest.

There is NickelMenu and you can telnet into it. You can also install other OS like KOReader easily, it doesn't have a locked bootloader or anything like that. So imho that's pretty accessible and open.

"The project is under very active development. Expect bugs and changes. Do not use it as the only way to store your photos and videos!"

As it's kind of implied at this point I thought I'd leave it out for once ;-)

But yes I do use Arch, btw.

Hehe no the cereal stuff is rather innocent compared to 2 girls 1 cup.

I would recommend getting a Google Takeout export every year or so. Even before it falls off a cliff it's a good idea to have your own backups. Accounts can get blocked, hacked, etc.

Jealous of the amount of free time you have available ;-) good luck!

Yeah I totally agree, I hate that they keep adding new stuff instead of focussing on their core business. It's especially annoying as the Android Protonmail app and the regular web mail client are really bare bones and have several long standing issues. Honestly if I had set it up with my own domain instead of the @pm.me (which admittedly is a nice suffix) I probably wouldn't be a paying customer anymore.

Horizon Zero Dawn is my all time favorite game (a remastered version is coming out next week so might be a great time to jump in). Celeste is a 2D platformer and also really great. Been having fun with Zelda ToTK and Astrobot as well.

Maybe sending people like you back to level it out could work?

Oh I definitely agree. But still; when I'm running Windows the filesystem is very low on my list of annoyances.

Too soon man

I never said anything about Onyx, I don't own one but have considered them. They look nice and open.

I do own a couple of Kobo devices though and just wanted to say it's not running Android of any kind but it's still relatively open. Especially compared to phones, tablets and Kindle. The firmware/OS point you're trying to make is irrelevant there and I think you know it :)

SystemD also contains things like a network manager, dns resolving, ntp time sync and more, which I agree should not be so tightly coupled to the core init system.

Strongly disagree, I think it's very useful to accept your own addictive tendencies so you can stay mindful of the risks, but as with most of these things it's probably personal. Use what works for you.

Damn noob ;-)
