Time for me to start donating to Firefox. Need to do my part to make sure Chrome doesn’t complete its monopoly
Google Voice - Cheogram
Search - Duck Duck Go or Start Page
Contacts - NextCloud
Calendar - NextCloud
Tasks - Task.Org
Keep - Joplin
Maps - Magic Earth
Passwords & Sign In - Bitwarden or Keepass
Docs & Sheets - Open Office
Gmail - Proton or Tutanota
Dialer - Simple Dialer
Files - Material Files
Chrome - Firefox
YouTube - Peertube
Photos - NextCloud
Bookmarks - NextCloud, Floccus, or XBrowsersync
I use all of these but I still have to use Google Voice and Maps because they are just superior to everything else that I have tried imo. And I sometimes use gmail too because certain website logins are locked to my old Gmail's.
Too bad it's only on available on the Pixel. My pixel 6 had a terrible fingerprint scanner... And when I upgraded to the 7, it was even worse (didn't work in the dark).
So for now afwall+ on my rooted Moto Edge 2022 Plus gets the job done with blocking Google (and other invasive) apps.
Don't forget the "Video Background Play Fix" add on. That paired with the adblocking makes it where you can watch ad free YouTube while in another app or even with the screen off.
Firefox
Shit never works and I basically have to become a programmer and expert in CLI to get shit to work... until it breaks again. So after having to Google everything on how to do supposedly simple shit, I always end up going back to Windows and GUI's because I don't have time to become a developer.
Just moved from WIndows to Linux Mint a few weeks ago and never going back
Also, that all cats were girls and all dogs were boys.
Yes. I remember being argued down that "we don't need copy and paste! That's not an important feature!". Smh
I'm gonna start my own personal instance actually.
There's an android Mode. But it isn't really material ui either. It threw me off at first, but having the same EXACT experience on my Desktop, iOS, and Android is 🔥🔥🔥.
Yea… it’s time to boogie off this instance for a while before they turn into Reddit Jr.
KeePass all day. Completely open sourced and free.
I use
KeePassium on iOS
KeePassiumXC on desktop
Keepass2Android (no net) on Android.
All synced via Nextcloud but you can sync via sync thing as well if you don’t want to self cloud host.
Good stuff. Getting to used to using Reddit less and less.
Nice!!
Rclone, Neat Downloader, VLC, FreeCommanderXE, LMMS, any Keepass program, Rufus, Gimp, Notepad++, 7zip, ffmpeg, yt-DLP
Same here. Tried so many different versions of Linux and none have been stable so back on Windows 11.
This is the way
That the WWF was real
I'm one of them
Couldn't this be accomplished by deploying your own personal instance? Or am I missing something.
Whoa shit 😳
After convincing a shitload of iMessage users to get telegram, I'm not going through that again.
I have been using Joplin with Dropbox sync. Syncs between my Desktop, Android, and iOS devices. Switched from Google Keep a few months back. Great app.
Here's another trick. Go to youtube and then go to your Firefox menu and check "desktop site". And then you can install it as a PWA on your Homescreen. Don't worry, when you open it up for the first time from your Homescreen, it will be back in Mobile web format.
This essentially makes it an isolated app from your browser. Not cluttering up your history and tabs.
Saving this for when I make my own personal instance.
Yes my very unpopular opinion is that white chicks is the funniest movie ever made. So many hilarious scenes. Also, Friday and Superbad always keep me in stitches.
I use Revanced, but keep Firefox Youtube and invidious as backups.
Yea when I started my Degoogle thing a few months back, I also switched to Firefox and it's been great.
Use cloudflare tunnels. I can access all my localhosts from outside with just one main domain (they are each attached to subdomain of the main domain).
Infinity still working for me.
Yea. My whole Facebook feed is full of ads and posts from people I don't even have on my friend list. I got fed up and barely go on there anymore.
I have been dual wielding the Android/iPhone combo for the last 10 years. I use my iPhone for iMessage, Facetime, Apple Pay, and when my Android is dead. And it works wonderfully with my Apple watch and Airpods when I'm working out. I use my Android for everything else. So my Android is my main device and my iPhone is secondary.
This and "Funny Games" are my most underrated favorites
Ok so Mastadon it is then
So many good apps coming out. Have you tried infinity for Lemmy yet? And that Android subsystem on Windows 11 is GOLD. I use my iptv app and some other Android apps on it.
Not sure if it's big tech but anyways... The Stream Deck (not to be confused with the Steam Deck portable gaming console). This macro keyboard brought my productivity through the roof and now I don't understand how I went so long without it.
This is exactly what I need. Let me do some research on this.
Tailscale. Download it and you'll be up and running in 5 minutes. Don't use cloudflare tunnels unless you plan on opening it up to the public. Then you can go that route.
Making official statements on Discord, and not Lemmy is WILD
