I don't want to 'get to know' my coworkers. I'm not there for friendships, or a pseudo family. I'm there to do a job and be paid for it.

But, this might just be my introvert side.

Good, run that into the ground too and be rid of it.

Can we get a list of companies NOT doing this? I'd assume it's going to be much shorter.

The game came out in 2021. There are far older games from other publishers still up and getting updates. Stop giving these pump-and-dump games your money.

See guys, we shoulda paid for it back then. Now we're paying for it now XD

Jumper cables. For like 10-20$ it can save you or someone else a lot of trouble.

Not exactly, though I see your point. I think it would be more accurate if McDonald's charged for ketchup, mustard, salt, drink cups, lids, straws etc.

This is a welcome change tbh. All these other platforms push rage bait and crap just to drive engagement numbers.

It's refreshing to go back a little to how the Internet used to be. You had to go and find what you liked, not have a million things pushed on you.

Lay them all out in a straight line. Attach camera to rc car. Drive car past pics. Basically Google streets but for your pics XD /s

Lots of great suggestions here though.

Just a reminder of the 3-2-1 backup model.

Semi important things are backed up to my home server. Super important stuff is also stored on a big name cloud service.

Also, don't forget paper exists. For smaller documents, it could be worth printing them, and putting them in a water/fire resistant safe.

Why does this matter? As an android user, I don't really understand iMessage. Are people mad about a text bubble being a different color?

To play the devils advocate here, maybe music man has gotten ridiculed before with this question on his music preference. When I'm driving by myself, I'll fire up youtube and listen to all sorts of random stuff. But I'd never subject my wife to it as I know we don't share interest in some things.

Speaking from experience, from a long time ago, and from the people/family I've installed it for on older machines: It's different. That's 90% of it.

The people that had little to no windows/PC experience actually took to Linux a lot easier not having to relearn/change habits from windows.

I've had both over my life. Both have pros and cons.

As others have said, cats overall require less attention; both in interaction and maintenance. Our cats are really good about keeping house bugs to a minimum with their natural hunter instincts. Flies, moths and other critters don't last long. Also litter boxes are something I wish dogs could figure out lol.

Dogs are more social, so they'll need more from you. They need frequent outside time to run and exercise/bathroom. Most dogs don't care about catching bugs and critters like cats. However, if treated right, will defend the house to the death from intruders.

In my current situation, cats are better. If I had a much bigger, we'll fenced yard, I'd love to have a dog again.

Pihole or similar DNS blocking. I can't recommend it enough. My smart TVs are the #1 offender on my network. The only thing that will try to pull in more ads are my wife's mobile games.

It's what we get for not buying it XD

Nuclear power at small scale is already in use in devices. Some medical devices, smoke detectors etc. As long as there is proper shielding, the enclosure is robust enough, and the overall device is made easily serviceable, I'm all for it. I can understand the fear sentiment of anything flagged as radioactive, but radiation is all around us already. Idk, but the less we can ditch super toxic and explosive lithium the better.

No. It's like expecting construction companies to enforce traffic laws because they build the roads.

Went with random creation. Unfortunately I skipped over the slider customizations. Stuck with a male character. Though the height slider was already cranked up.

Tried to go for a melee build, but stats favored int. So, I've been going with a Netrunner build (IT).

How so? It opens, and works reasonably for me, on a non top tier phone.

I'm speechless, ina bad way.

I think this will vary too much between OS and hardware. For me, Vulkan feels better overall. Dx11 looks slightly better but less performant.

But I'm running all AMD hardware, Linux steam with proton.

My new PC has 64g ram. But I'm also not using or plan to use windows. Checkmate M$!

But in all seriousness, 8g is like, the foundational minimum these days. Sad tbh. Browsers are so bloated these days. I'm surprised that browsers haven't become their own OS yet. It kinda feels that way in some environments.

5 more...

I use the percentile die for that.

As an IT guy, that whole situation is terrifying.

1 more...

I'd imagine that's part of it. But it's also a big metal building, farady cage and all.

Where I live, there's one charging station. And it's like 8 miles or so from my house. I've yet to see more. It's also a fairly rural area. I think we forget how much population lives outside cities.

Parents, do better ffs

Not to be pedantic, but wouldn't it need to be a 180? 360 would put them right back in the same spot XD

Pihole works wonders for mobile apps in general. Especially games. Ublock and pihole are similar but different enough to use both. Yes, ublock is overall better for browsers. But for network wide coverage, including smart TV'S, mobile apps, iot stuff like ring cameras etc.

When they started selling always online games.

I've not used anything other than pihole (and browser adblocks), so I can't speak on them. But pihole seems to do well for me. Granted I do have a bigger Blocklist than what ships. ~1.6 million domains. Some custom to my environment. Also using Wireguard so the blocking happens on smartphones while not at home.

Look, I'm all for renewable energy, where it makes sense. When I lived in southern California, BLM had so many wildlife restrictions in place, even for off-roading it was kinda nuts. A lot of it dealt with tortoises. Shortly after moving out of state, they started building solar farms all over the place. They're massive multi dozens to hundreds of acres in size. Many of them in the same areas they got all worked up about for the tortoises...

Generating the power is only a third the battle. Still need to store and distribute that power. Factor in power demands etc.

What I'm trying to say is, as a species we need to get better. This is a good step. However, the power output of a single nuclear plant to the size shouldn't be overlooked. We should stop fossil fuel reliance. Nuclear is at this point very understood. Yes some bad accidents happened in the past.

Wait, its like what ~50% of it already was, had been for a while. Between in game modded photomode, and all the Lucy cosplay(onlyfans ads).

Others have said this, but it's always a work in progress.

What started out as just a spare optiplex desktop and needing a dedicated box for Minecraft and valheim servers, to now having a rack in my living room with a few key things I and others rely on. You definitely aren't alone XD

Regular, proactive work goes a long way. I also stated creating tickets for myself, each with a specific task. This way I could break things down, have reminders of what still needs attention, and track progress.

Looks like some tacky headline articles from a magazine or something. So glad I left that place. Can we let it rott in silence

The owners of....the sites. How they do that, is up to them. But again, I'll go back to my construction analogy: There's a burgaler entering your house, who do you call and why? Not the people that built it.
