Hey!

It appears that Meta was aware of Threads before launching its platform of the same name. Company lawyers made four offers to purchase the domain 'threads.app' from Threads Software Ltd from April 2023, all of which were declined. Meta announced Threads in July 2023, the same time that the British company says it was removed from Facebook.

Classic Facebook douchebaggery.

Former President Donald Trump's top White House trade adviser Peter Navarro was found guilty Thursday of two counts of criminal contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

A jury in Washington, D.C., convicted the former Trump administration official following a trial that lasted just over a day. Navarro's defense team called no witnesses.

Sentencing is set for January, and Navarro faces a maximum of one year in prison and a fine of $100,000 for each count.

Good, now do all the others.

In a stunning, pre-trial win in New York attorney general's all-out war on the Trump Organization, a Manhattan judge has found that Donald Trump committed fraud for years by inflating his worth to banks and insurers by as much as $3.6 billion a year.

A strongly-worded ruling by state Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron rejected outright Trump's request for a range of pre-trial victories, calling his arguments "rehashed" and "erroneous."

Instead, the judge gave a major victory to Attorney General Letitia James, immediately revoking Trump's license to do business in New York.

"It's the corporate death penalty," said Diana Florence, a veteran financial crimes prosecutor for the Manhattan district attorney's office, now in private practice.

"This ruling essentially dissolves his company," she said, though she predicted that years of appeals may pass before anything actually happens.

Bye bye Trump org!

Sanders in her first year on the job has an approval rating of 48% according to voters asked about her performance. This is the lowest in the last 20 years, but higher than U.S. Senators Tom Cotton (42%) and John Boozman (40%) as well as President Joe Biden (33%).

In his last year in office, former Governor Asa Hutchinson garnered a 59% approval rating and never had an approval rating lower than 57%.

And in their first year in office, the three previous governors had an approval rating of at least 57%, with Hutchinson at 57%, Gov. Mike Beebe at 70%, and Gov. Mike Huckabee at 66%.

The last time an Arkansas governor had a lower approval rating was in 2003 when Gov. Huckabee had 47% support. That would jump to 58% one year later.

Good job dummies. You got exactly what you voted for, another Huckabee flunky.

The article also says Biden had a 33% approval rating. JFC. GDP is up 5% and unemployment is like 3-4%.

Stop expecting perfection.

Nobody is perfect. MLK had affairs, the founding fathers owned slaves, Churchill was racist AF, etc.

She’s doing a great job now and we can educate her the same way we turned Obama from anti-gay marriage.

We should judge people OVERALL not on stuff like being anti-vax (which to be clear is dumb).

You’re awesome, I knew that post came from an AI! 😂

You don’t welcome cancer in to your body because you support all life.

Nazis and Russian trolls are not here to debate or inform. Their sole purpose is to degrade trust in democracy, spread propaganda, and other heinous shit.

Defederation is our only defense and we owe it to users to fight hate and lies.

“Many voters think [‘pro-life’] means you’re for no exceptions in favor of abortion ever, ever”

But, that’s true… Every GOP state legislature has passed bills without exceptions.

So their argument is what exactly?

JFC he can’t even speak English.

I physically cringed when I read that. JFC indeed. He’s such a racist dipshit.

Politico reported on Mark Meadows’ potential legal strategy as the White House chief of staff faces charges connected with Trump’s alleged conspiracy to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results. The report referred to court documents showing a strong likelihood that Meadows will join Trump’s other former allies who will blame the ex-president and portray him as the “primary driver” of the racketeering enterprise they’ve been accused of.

Do it Mark, don’t go to jail for the orange buffoon.

After losing to Disney, it’s a safer bet!

All four charges laid out in the second federal indictment of former President Donald Trump center around the idea that Trump tried to steal the 2020 election. Hence, some people incorrectly believe that part of the prosecution’s job will be showing that Trump understood that he was the one trying to steal the election, and not that it was stolen from him. Those people are mistaken. Special counsel Jack Smith can convict Trump on all charges — corruptly obstructing and conspiring to corrupt an official proceeding, conspiring to defraud the government, and conspiring to violate civil rights — without ever showing that Trump knew he had lost the 2020 election.

I’m liking Jack Smith more-and-more everyday.

Any word on the fly? Will they be joining as well?

The X accounts of several prominent journalists and leftist pundits were suspended from the site, formerly known as Twitter, on Tuesday morning with no clear explanation.

The suspensions affected several journalists and commentators, including Texas Observer journalist Steven Monacelli, Ken Klippensten of The Intercept, podcaster Rob Rousseau, and Alan MacLeod of MintPress News. The landing page for their accounts says it’s been suspended, but does not give any explanation as to why. A message on the profiles simply states “X suspends accounts which violate the X rules.”

The ban didn’t just hit journalists either. Several prominent-left leaning accounts were also purged from the website, including the account for the TrueAnon podcast and @zei_squirrel, a cartoon squirrel that tweets media criticism of figures like Glenn Greenwald.

And their new Elmo-like system to pay mods will make this type of spam worse as mods will be incentivized to allow this crap.

Paxton’s defense also said the Texas Senate should toss out the impeachment articles because the allegations happened before Paxton’s most recent election.

They call it the “prior-term doctrine.” Paxton’s lawyers cite the Texas Constitution and say only offenses that happened after November 2022 — Paxton’s most recent election — could be grounds for impeachment.

But the Texas Constitution is not that explicit. It only says a person cannot be impeached for offenses committed before their election to office. It doesn’t specify if that means their first election to a position or their most recent reelection.

“Those crimes are so last year!”
