I remember being a kid and wanting one of these SOOOOO bad. Never got to experience it! Steamdeck has filled that lost time for me!

It annoyed me such much that I checked out and moved to Kbin. No matter what instance of Lemmy I was using I had the same issue you are experiencing. Everything has been working great over here so far!
Here representing kbin! I honestly keep trying to go back to a lemmy.world from time to time but I prefer kbin's experience overall. Fantastic news for all involved!
I have to agree with you. It seems to completely defeat the concept of the fediverse for me. I can understand where they are coming from but feels so wrong from the point of this place!
