I never stopped. Streaming services are such a joke.

I love Blue Dream. It's the perfect blend of "Holy shit I'm high" and not being couch-locked.

Minecraft. When I started out it was fine but when I began to get regular visitors I got DDOSed for days on end and people poking me for ssh access. Never again.

The only reason I have Netflix is because I get it through T-Mobile as a last resort. Fuck the state of streaming content. Raise the pirate flag boys!

I joined and ran many clans growing up but my first was in Rainbow Six: Rouge Spear. I spent many of hours sniping on bunkers and swearing at each other over Teamspeak. One guy I met took me under his wing and showed me all about each level. The mod scene was pretty good too, granted you had to manually install the mod locally or the server wouldn't let you in.

My most memorable game was America's Army. The challenge of the gameplay really drew me and my RL friends in and we ended up making a clan. We liked it so much we rented a legit server so we could get honor on our own turf. Between us and the players coming in it was some of my best time on a shooter.

Just for sheer amount of hours, Counter Strike 1.6 reigns supreme. I remember when I first saw my America's Army friends playing it and was in awe. The movement was janky compared to America's Army, but had way faster gameplay and more weapons. At first I had trouble getting the hang of it and it took a while but eventually I could somewhat keep up with them.

Needless to say, I got zero sleep as a kid.

The second I visited lemmy it immediately felt like the reddit of old. Damn it feels good to be back to basics.

Castle Crashers. It's a classic side scroll beatemup with RPG elements. I've beaten it a few times both solo and with friends.

Best: I get to see a lot of aerospace stuff being manufactured.

Worst: The owner's wife is a dumb bitch.

Weapons Cache and Pipeline all day!

I love our Arris modem. It's definitely rock solid.

They weren't asking, I was getting spammed with attempts. I changed the ports and locked down my server. In the end I switched to VPS's.

Kubuntu 22.04. All my games run like butter without much tinkering. I learned most of my Linux stuff on Debian or Ubuntu in the early days and most of what I need comes in .deb form.

"Bomb has been planted.." Shit.

Yes

I had the same issue updating yesterday, apparently it's bugged. I'm using the previous kernel for now and it's running fine.

Grand Theft Auto IV. I've always felt it has the most emersive storyline and setting out of them all. Once you get past the janky driving controls it was a hell of a lot of fun.

It's worth checking out CP2077 again. They fixed a ton of bugs and added new features as well. Perfect timing before the expansion comes out.

This is a kick right in the childhood for me. FreeSpace made up a lot of my formative years as a gamer. Despite them pumping out trash games as of late, it doesn't make it any easier. I guess I'll do another playthrough of FreeSpace tonight in memory of the good times. Thank you, Volition.

I'm running Debian on my home server and I do a lot via SSH from my desktop. I used to host a Minecraft server back when it was alpha so I learned a lot about cli. I do have xfce setup in case of an "Oh shit" moment though because I tend to do stupid shit.

This is cool! I landed on an old Doom WAD review page.

My friends and I were pissed when we tried to give the game another go after a few years, only to find they did their "vault" system. We all uninstalled real quick.

But were we pissed enough to make threats toward Bungie? No. The Reddit hivemind is pure poison now and I'm glad I left.

I have a tracker on standby for this reason. What indexers were you using? I haven't had too hard of a time finding some older stuff so far.

Kubuntu 22.04, while my home server is Debian 12.

Absolute banger!

I remember when this came out in high school. All day we'd scream lyrics at each other in the hallways between classes.

Sadly my server predated Docker or I would have done this. After I left the community I think they migrated to Docker.

I also use this method and it's worked great for a long time.

I'm on Xfinity and the only time I've gotten a warning was torrenting a movie from a public tracker without a VPN. I switched back to a private tracker and no issues even without a VPN.

Your mileage may vary.

Feels like yesterday.

Only 100? That's rookie numbers.
