I tell people, like my friend that wanted a bunch of drivel kids stuff, that if they give me 2 hard drives I'll set them up as their own library.

the HR drone could've probably explained it better, but it's possible for the background blur effect to distort a close up img on camera of a document, such as for I9. I recently went through a verification of my documents and had to do the same thing, except I made the call to unblur and immediately my docs were verifiable via camera.

Likely policy is to ask for blur effects to be disabled to remove the possibility of interference in be able to actually see/verify docs.

I looked these up too after seeing them mentioned in an interview. Definitely vaporware. Reviews are not good. It’s very limited in its capabilities vs an actual laptop, build quality is meh at best, and the glasses are not very accommodating to the wearer.

Neat premise, not there yet.

Sooo many awesome suggestions here for you, OP!

One thing I don't think I've seen yet, is that you should create your calendar events as barebones as possible and then edit them to add each additional detail. This will notify everyone else attached of the updates to your event, every time you update any of them.

Wut

Where did you get it? I have several friends I’d like to buy this as a shirt for!

paternally I'm related to a bad man, with a hilariously terrible statue, from the us civil war era.

Iirc macOS Remote Desktop is based on vnc so you should be able to turn it on on your Mac and connect. I use it for managing a headless trashcan

Japanese barbeque sauce

love me a good recursive acronym

I have this same allergy, and arm & hammer naturals also makes good deodorant without aluminum salts. Agreed, not a great excuse not put some on

Why? Just bc the brand doesn't operate anymore doesn't mean those cars vanished from the roads. There's still Saturns and mercuries out there being driven daily.

I can already see it (again): an employee of Walgreens that is not a pharmacy employee gets tasked to help the pharmacy during a busy period. They are put at the counter to grab and distribute customers' ready prescriptions. A customer comes up to the counter to pick up their prescription of marijuana, the employee sees the prescribed drug, and promptly refuses to give the customer their prescription. It's already happened in southern states with birth control, it feel confident it would happen in this scenario, too.

iMessage doesn't give any indication of your blocked. It doesn't even bother trying to resend as sms if the recipient blocks you

I haven’t given up on Linux. I have at least 5 Linux machines in the other room, including tablets, laptops, and servers.

There’s a few Mac’s in the mix too, but those are workstations.

Though I can sympathize with the complaints here in these comments. I brought a ryzen laptop home and installed a distribution on it. Sleep didn’t work. Tried 2 more distros, sleep still didn’t work. Now that laptop just sits there. My Chromebook gets more use than it. Having to shut it down and boot it back up every time wasn’t worth using it anymore when my pinebook pro does have the support you’d expect for functions you’d expect from a laptop.

Anything with cheese flavored powder. He'll lick that stuff off sun chips, Doritos, Cheetos, etc

At work, my work calendar is shared with the entire company to see. I like it as it lets people easily schedule meetings with me, know at which of the two locations (or at home) I am.

"Fun" fact: Outlook and Teams have a Scheduling assistant feature that makes that unnecessary. If a person wants to schedule a meeting with you, they don't need access to your calendar to check availability. They just add you, pick a day, and it will suggest to them time slots you have open in your calendar for that day. There's no longer a need to share an Outlook calendar with anyone just so they can know when you're free to meet.

Fishwaldo is pretty active in the #pinetab chat from what I’ve seen. If you have matrix, discord, or irc you could jump into the pine64 chats and ask him

PineNote could be a good option too

It's pretty easy overall. If you poke around in your bios there should be a firmware update option. It is worth looking up your motherboard to see if it matters which port you put the update drive into

Can the ISP at the remote location remove your remote location from the NAT? I have a similar issue where sometimes it’s will reset and my services are inaccessible. A quick call to support usually has the problem fixed in a few minutes.

If you want to be able to watch/preview the HEIC images, you can edit the available mime type for Nextcloud's Viewer. (I do this to our company's NC so customers can use viewer for PDFs and employees can get previews/thumbnails of TIFFs, AIs and PSDs. For HEIC, just go to your NC's 'apps/viewer/js/viewer-main.js' and add 'image/heic' and 'image/heic-sequence' to the mimetype list (about halfway down, I hgihly recommend using VSCode+a formatter to make finding it easier)

Is the Hba in a traditional server case with lots of airflow? My 9207-8i displayed a similar issue bc it didn’t have enough direct cooling (it’s not in a traditional server/case.) it would never show more than 2 drives at a time and they would often vanish. Once I mounted a fan to it, the Hba has been stable and showing every drive I attach

Yup, that cap file is the one you'd use for an update. You download it, unzip it to your USB, and (sometimes) rename the cap file. After that it's more waiting than doing anything.

That's always helpful lol but now you've got the best of both worlds, you don't need to run an update and you know how to do it whenever you do

Not all ARM chips are in phones, nor are they all locked down like one. There are several ARM devices and SBCs now where switching OSes is as easy as swapping out an SD card. Most do use uboot as a standard and some are even capable of utilizing UEFI.

I was just thinking of trying this with gnome mobile shell on mine! It looks like a great way to handle windows on gnome with touch

We’re definitely smaller than the Reddit gunpla sub, but I’m really enjoying the gunpla community on lemmy. Everyone’s chummy and welcoming. I’d love to see any you’ve built!

Why not split the difference and do both. Hdd for storage and SSD for services/containers. To help with the power load/performance hit I'd recommend using a usb to sata adapter that has external power. Overall though it sounds like a micro optipl x would be great for you. They're cheap, more powerful, but still sip power, and usually can fit nvme and 2.5" drives together.

not from what I recall, there's a module "commerce" (and many extending modules) that can be installed through the admin webui. I think they already have a Drupal spin where the more popular commerce modules are included with the install

If you need to keep the budget down, you could probably find an end of service 2 in 1 Chromebook and make it a chultrabook.
