Thanks :) it's my first time actually trying to plate up a meal properly haha so it's really nice to hear this!!

I'm no expert by any means but I think once he's kicked out of NY, it's going to be pretty difficult for him to get back in.

He also has the court appointed monitor for the next 3 years which he already complained is costing him money (by stopping him from committing more fraud).

On top of that, banks will think twice before doing business with him in the future making it very difficult for him to make money without risking what he already has

While I agree that it should have been much more, I think (well more of a hope) that the long term damage this will do will cost him and his family far more than if he never committed fraud in the first place... Then again, he's shown an amazing ability to avoid consequences this far

Given the company is worth over $100b I don't even think something this value would be mentioned to the board, let alone concern them when they just bought a potential president for cheap

This is exactly right... A lot of bots already pay for blue since it promotes them and prevents them from getting blocked/muted so easily

$1/bot/yr will be nothing to bot farms

They don't want to declare independence because they have not ever been part of China. By declaring independence, they are giving weight to China's claims

It's nothing about maintaining the status quo

Hamas allegedly used paragliders to attack Israel

So what? We are meant to assume every recreational paraglider in the world is now part of Hamas?

Russia used trains to transport soldiers, do we report that some crazy lady thinks the local UK train is part of a Russian invasion?

Just to expand on this, While eth is 99.99% less energy use than Bitcoin, it still added 2.8 kilotonnes of co2 last year which is equal to about 2000 average houses for a year.

It's a negligible amount in the scheme of things, but a lot for a virtual currency especially when you add up all the various cryptocurrencies out there.

It wouldn't hurt to make all the POS ones use green energy, but probably wouldn't impact anything by itself.

Changing Bitcoin to green energy alone probably would however.

A) it's not always safe to sleep outside when travelling

B) it's not always legal to sleep where you are

So by taking your own bed in the pocket dimension, you'll always have a safe, comfortable and legal place to stay without any cost

Samsung messages was using RCS since 2012... Years before Google messages adopted it.

There are others out there that use it but call it by different names like "advanced messaging", "SMS+" etc

Google was the first to add e2e encryption and push it hard though, but if you send a RCS message from Google messages to Samsungs messages app, it won't have e2e, and most likely will be the same with messaging Apple.

But given how much Apple have fought to make it hard (or at least inconvenient) to message between them, and shut down any apps that made messaging between Apple and Android better, this is a big step for Apple

It even says it in the article op linked

The Apple Music app provides access to the iTunes library, alongside song and album purchases. Apple TV also lets Windows users watch movies and TV shows from their iTunes library

Oh... I misunderstood that part then, I thought that part of the order was still in place. That's not as bad for him. My hope is that the monitor digs up a lot more dirt in that time and hands it over, like they did a month or so back

Good for you. I have too... That doesn't mean it's safe or legal everywhere and doesn't give any reason why turning it into a portable bedroom is a bad idea

For a bit of context for those not too familiar with CDN stuff. My web server hosts about 20 small business websites. None are heavy on images or video or anything else. Most sites have well under 1k visitors a day, some are under 100.

Each month CloudFlare CDN saves me between 40-60gb of traffic which is nothing my server couldn't handle, but over a year is ~600gb in saved data so it adds up

If you had a Lemmy instance with even just 100 active users, with all the images and videos and all the federated background communications, that would add up extremely quickly.

I found this one but it's locked behind a Paywall so I can't tell you the full story. I did however find that it's linked to or referenced by 35 other sites, most of which are reputable science sites

Not only is it acceptable in "any way", it's the only acceptable way to handle it

Yeah I think you misread it, they are specifically saying you CAN'T compare because Taiwan is such a complex issue

Ukraine was very black and white compared to it

For me it was real parmesan. I didn't realise how bad the packet stuff was until I bought a block of aged parmesan, now I can never go back.

The rind goes well in soup stock too

I'll take the olives if you don't want them

Boost only just stopped working for me about an hour ago... That's it for Reddit for me now

It's an ongoing fee. The initial fee is raised by 3 times, and if the property is empty for more than 6 months of the year, they are charged twice the fee (so 6 times what the fee currently is, which starts at $13200aud and is up to $105600aud depending on the value of the property)

This means it will cost tens of thousands of dollars up to hundreds of thousands of dollars, each year, to leave it empty over half the year

I was recently asked to make a small Android app using flutter, which I had never touched before

I used chatgpt at first and it was so painful to get correct answers, but then made an agent or whatever it's called where I gave it instructions saying it was a flutter Dev and gave it a bunch of specifics about what I was working on

Suddenly it became really useful..I could throw it chunks of code and it would just straight away tell me where the error was and what I needed to change

I could ask it to write me an example method for something that I could then easily adapt for my use

One thing I would do would be ask it to write a method to do X, while I was writing the part that would use that method.

This wasn't a big project and the whole thing took less than 40 hours, but for me to pick up a new language, setup the development environment, and make a working app for a specific task in 40 hours was a huge deal to me... I think without chatgpt, just learning all the basics and debugging would have taken more than 40 hours alone

Ethereum did approximately 1.1m transactions a day. Visa did approximately 660m a day.

Small difference lol

Yeah I'd stay away from Mac too... but seriously most modern laptops can disable any sleep/hibernation on lid close

My go to lately is Lenovo tiny, can pick them up super cheap with 6-12 month warranties, throw in some extra ram, a new drive, haven't had any fail on me yet

The Netflix one screwed me... I go to hospital 3 times a week for 5 hours of dialysis. But Netflix viewed that as a second household and wanted me to pay for a second account to use my own account in 2 locations

Now I pay for zero accounts and still get any Netflix shows I want through alternative methods

You're assuming that everybody that buys a tablet like this also wants/has a laptop. Many people ONLY want the tablet as a portable computer while having a more powerful desktop in their home or office

In my case I have a tablet and a laptop, but my laptop ends up staying at home 99% of the time docked and acting as a desktop. When it comes time to replace it, I'll just get a desktop and keep the tablet

And how many payments the politicians take from local/competing car companies haha
