So they're admitting that their entire business model requires them to break the law. Sounds like they shouldn't exist.

I like to deadname X and always call it Twitter.

Yes, I already know that I'm a sad, sad excuse for a lifeform.

Spreading election lies (and that's what these deepfakes are), needs to be a felony, not protected by the 1st amendment.

When closed captioning for TVs was being rolled out by government mandate in the US, there was widespread anger over having the cost of a TV increase by $0.25 for everyone for a feature that would only help a few. I was sickened by the callousness.

I'd like something like multi-reddits. I want to be able to define specific groups of communities to show together, instead of having to either have a mish-mash of everything, or having to view each community on its own.

Grave of the Fireflies by Studio Ghibli. I love Ghibli movies, and this one was very moving, but if you've seen it you know why I won't watch it again. Very powerful.

It's totally Marjorie Taylor Greene

People are vacationing in North Korea?

Oh, it's for North Koreans who vacation in other parts of North Korea. Because they can't vacation in South Korea.

That would be a privacy nightmare.

I really want to be able to buy lab grown meat. I want it to be cheaper to grow meat in a lab than raise a cow/chicken and then slaughter it. It is ethically the right thing, as it reduces suffering.

Mildly infuriating? This is revolution level infuriating.

So the bricking is because there are chips in the ink cartridges. And why are there chips in the cartridges? Because HP wants to charge exorbitant rates for ink.

Looks like a cello. The violin would have a chin-rest near the bridge and thus tucks under the chin.

But this is gold.

Unpopular opinion: I'm old school and would probably use perl.

I just call it twitter because I like dead-naming it.

I have to wear orthotics in my shoes. I can't wear them without shoes. One day without shoes had led to months of pain.

Try wefwef.app. It's a PWA, and you can easily set it as an icon on your home screen. Supposedly it looks a lot like the big iOS app (apollo?) that started the reddit blackout. Has nice swiping gestures. Works an absolute treat.

Why is it so hard to understand that an Unidentified Flying Object is simply something flying that the observer doesn't know what it is. We know that the aerospace industry makes new planes, and that many of these are secret designs that we don't have clearance to know about. Thus, many, if not all, UFOs are simply classified aircraft. Simple.

Close. I want to define the ones that I use. Other people can define what multilemmies they want. It should be user-oriented, not server-oriented.

The article is very good, and explains some things about federation and the difference between lemmy and kbin. All in all a good introduction.

I wrote since stuff to help new Mastodon users: https://babylon4.com/mastodon

The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, he said. But still they come.

Ulllaaaaa!

What about a company that makes a bunch of products, and sets up a Lemmy instance with a community for each. The company pays attention to problems customers have and use their instance to improve the products. It's a corporate Lemmy instance, but I don't think you should defederate from it.

And the developer is quick to add features. Highly recommended for desktop.

I like playing Monument Valley. The twists are fun!

Does nyancat have vocals?

Wow! I wasn't the first one! I want a fire-lizard. Granted, I also want a dragon, but that seems overly presumptuous.

Will the TV even setup at all if it can't connect? I expect it'll stop working until it can talk to the company again.

This is nice. It's good that people can subscribe to these. But I also want to be able to make my own, because I might only want to read 5 magazines in their list of 25 magazines for selfhosted.

I'm pretty sure that waze doesn't work in Android Auto.

Looks like I'm wrong. I just saw some articles from 2022 about getting it working. Thanks!

I agree. Doku is incredibly easy and extensible. And it doesn't need a database.

Gonna get downvoted for this, but there are other companies out there that don't violate your privacy while allowing you cloud office. I use zoho.com.

I have a degree in CS with a minor in Earth and Environmental Science. I taught middle school science, and could have taught math.

Dark mode can be done by changing the template. You can install a new template, or there's an admin panel to change the colors, and you can get dark mode that way. But it's true that there's no dark mode for some and light mode for others option.
