Man, I hope I live to see the day that these greedy bastards lose a huge chunk of their business to free filing via the IRS. They've been fighting to keep tax paying citizens from getting what they want from their government for years. It's gross.

I want to see this free filing happen both for the good it'll do and because I want to see Intuit's stock plummet. Fuck Intuit.

"It'S gOiNg tO HuRt bLaCk pEoPle" fuck off you dirty liars.

You're absolutely right, all this old timer "Kids these days are so soft..." B. S. When in reality the young just don't wanna die or be maimed at 30.

Take care of your bodies, kids, it's the only one you get. Don't let corporations run you into the ground and then throw you in the trash. We need to demand better working conditions from our bosses and our elected officials.

It's okay to criticize your party. You can vote for the lesser evil while still calling out the "evil" in the party you voted for. Hell I'd say it's pretty important to be willing to hold ones leaders feet to the fire.

But it doesn't mean everyone who is critical is voting Republican.

"When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, you just seen them thrown in, rough. I said, โ€˜Please donโ€™t be too nice,โ€™"

Trump said, addressing a group of police officers.

Generally I'm with you, but if Trump gets a little roughed up I won't cry too hard.

I don't get it?

The OP was expressing how awkward sex would be with him being majorly attracted to boobs while the trans guy hates their boobs.

I don't think he literally meant he'd SAY THAT, especially on purpose.

Mostly I think he was saying it wouldn't be the best idea for him to date a trans man cuz he's not into dudes. He was just trying to be funny and paint a picture of awkwardness to explain why.

That's my reading of it, anyway.

What word do you prefer to use to describe people who hoard more wealth than they or their children can spend in a lifetime while the vast majority of workers are on the edge of financial ruin? Why can't they be satisfied with just having one mega yacht? One giant mansion? If not "greed" what do you call it?

This was literally my husband's objection to getting medicated ๐Ÿ˜‚ It helped his anxiety, then he didn't have the anxiety to get stuff done, so he thought he should just not be medicated cuz he was terrified he wouldn't have the ability anymore without the anxiety.

Lucky for him I went through the same thing with my meds, but my answer was, "Use the medication to build good habits." Which is the great wisdom I passed on to him (which I probably picked up from lurking ADHD spaces before my (and his) diagnosis).

The "mental illness" is that pregnancy is dangerous. Quite literally life threatening. Quite literally can do permanent damage to everything from your teeth to your heart, to giving you diabetes. Children are entire people, they are not pets that you casually collect. They are people who should be brought into our world with care, with desire, with love, with planning. This country has horrible access to medical care, shits expensive AF, who's paying for that? All of those things should be taken on willingly. Not via failed birth control in a country that refuses to educate our young people on safe sex.

The "mental illness" is that no one, not a born child, not a fetus, has the right to my body parts without my on-going consent. As soon as I withdraw my consent it is over. Whether that's a life saving blood draw for my sick, already born child or continuing to incubate a fetus. I have the right to withdraw my consent to the use of my body. A fetus does not have more rights to my body than I do. It's mine.

If wanting to have the right to control what happens to my personal body is "mental illness" then I happily claim it. You're free to give up your body for someone else if you'd like. But you cannot have mine without my on-going consent.

I'm aware that I'm feeding the troll, and I'm not interested in your answer. My reply isn't for you. It's for anyone still on the fence about this issue. To me it's quite simple: No one has the right to my body but me. Even if that will kill the other person. That's settled law for every other circumstance besides pregnant women, who apparently lose their rights to their own body if a fetus attaches.

ProPublica was able to determine that a vast majority of the challenges since SB 202 became law โ€” about 89,000 of 100,000 โ€” were submitted by just six right-wing activists...

Imagine having that much time on your hands... And I get that voting integrity is important, and mayyybe these 6 people actually believe they're protecting that, but with these numbers its gotta just be fishing and targeting people based on demographics, not evidence.

A spreadsheet attached to the email identified 13 people allegedly registered to vote at P.O. boxes in Forsyth County... Georgians are supposed to register at residential addresses, except in special circumstances. โ€œPlease consider this my request that a hearing be held to determine these votersโ€™ eligibility to vote,โ€ wrote the challenger...

For instance, it specifically says, "except in special circumstances", how does this dude know these 13 people didn't have special circumstances??

I know voter registration fuckery is the point, but how did they not provide rules regarding what constitutes evidence?? ... Well I guess I answered my own question at the beginning, but it's so frustrating.

That's an excellent argument for why we should have a nationally owned pharmaceutical option. The US government funds a bunch of the research anyway, we should just own production lines as well. Cut out the middle men.

We should set it up as USPS-like competition for the pharmaceutical industry. Then they can change what ever the fuck they want without literally killing people, cuz there will be a publicly owned backup.

"Oh hey, remember (name)? They worked here like 6 months ago."

No. No I do not remember that person. I probably didn't learn their name when they were here, let alone retain that information 6 months later.

Now I just lie, cuz people do NOT like the implication that you'll definitely forget their name in 6 months, too ๐Ÿ˜‚ "Oh, yeah! That guy! How's he doing these days?" While I desperately try to conjure a mental picture as they talk about That Guy. Usually the conversation ends with me still not having a clue.

I blame a lot on brain farts when the name I can't come up with is someone who DOES still work here, "Fuck, why am I not coming up with this name that I 100% do, in fact, know??"

Really they should have been clued in to my horrible memory when I needed the phone number for our other store, that I call multiple times a DAY, to be written down near the phone because I can't reliably remember it when I need it.

I just don't see how those would have ended up at Mar-a-Lago without direction from at least someone in the family, if not Trump himself. Like... Why? How? Who would care enough, besides a Trump?

Wishing Mitch many more strokes in the future aside...

God I'm sick of these frail old people who only have half their brain functionality, who are so incredibly out of touch with the average American due to decades and decades of being a high ranking politician, who won't live long enough to even see what they've done to the world, let alone have to experience the suffering they've caused, still running this damned country instead of stepping aside for a younger generation.

And yes, I know, young conservatives aren't any better. But they're also less entrenched, they still have time to change their minds on things, they WILL live to see the destruction conservative policies will bring. It's not much but it's better than 1000yr old, dementia brained, stroke having puppets. Run by their staff, and still barely functioning. Mitch could have been the bestest politician ever and I'd still be here saying he's reached the point where he needs to retire to his rocking chair.

Again, wishing him every well deserved stroke he gets.

Texans are worried because of the previous track record: The winter storm that froze people to death because the supply couldn't keep up with demand. Our grid was incredibly close to a whole shit down, which would have killed even more people. All of which happened because the people in charge of such things didn't prepare for a winter storm like that despite being warned that it was necessary like a decade ago.

And heat is no joke. So yeah, we worry. We have kids, elderly family and friends, pets, and healthy adults are also not immune. When demand skyrockets we get worried because people have already died and we don't want to see that happen again. We're also very aware of how often we're told things are "fixed" when nothing has actually been done. So we cross our fingers, and we sweat, and we hope the grid doesn't shut down and kill us. Sorry our worrying and upvoting of the topic bothers you.

Exactly, it should be fired, charged, loss of required policing license if found guilty (or if a police license board decides so, even without conviction)

Currently I'll take just fired and charged, since we don't have policing licenses as of yet.

Annnnd that's why cops shouldn't have unions.

The police dept is already loathe to hold officers accountable, we don't need a whole ass union protecting cops from people who already don't want to hurt them.

Correction, the election that gave Hamas power was 17 yrs ago, half the population of Gaza is under 18. Half the population of Gaza was not even born yet when the last election took place.

If memory serves, that's also around the time Netanyahu was funding Hamas. Your post blames children who couldn't vote for Hamas more than the PM of Israel who was funding them.

Hopefully this helps you relate more to the children and young adults in Palestine who had no say in their either.

Aw, man, two thirds through your comment I upvoted you cuz I felt bad your joke got taken wrong.

But the winge-fest in the edit... Dude sometimes a joke doesn't land, take the L.

As someone who drives for a living and tries to be very aware of the motorcyclists in the area, thank you for your note. I'll add it to my "Don't kill a motorcyclist" checklist.

(god I hope that doesn't sound sarcastic)

Oh shit, do you have evidence of other justices engaging in a similar level of corruption?? I'm very interested to see any articles or evidence you have to that effect.

Otherwise engage with the topic at hand, which is Thomas and the Koch brothers.

There are all kinds of people with various dog training/skills in this world who take in dogs with problems from not being safe around small animals, or other dogs, or kids, or men, or women, etc.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find people qualified and willing to take on this kind of dog "problem" (the dog did what it was trained to do, I'm not sure why that would be a problem necessarily. If it attacks someone outside of it's training then I'd be with you).

Hell throw in special training and some kind of state/local tax break for anyone willing and able to sign up for retired police dog owning.

Of course, because they don't care that they're gonna do fascism, that's perfectly okay with those people. They think they're gonna be the ones on top. I mean, not TOP top, but what's that saying? "Tell the poorest white man that he's still better than a black dude and he'll give you his shirt" or something to that effect. They just wanna be special special boys and have some free punching bags walking around...and another punching bag married to them.

Wait til half of them find out that they, their friends, and/or their family will eventually be the " bad other " under fascism. They won't be so smug anymore. And that doesn't even feel satisfying to say cuz I'm just picturing all the dead and beaten people who will go before they get to eating their own. Bottom line is they're okay with things getting ugly as long as they're the ones making it ugly.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

I looked it up cuz it was bothering me. I still like my version tho, so it stays, lol.

Me, innocent: Oh cuz a central banker is pretty wealthy and powerful, and to only cover the crown would take a very tiny beanie ๐Ÿ˜‚

Wait... Hitler mode? ... ๐Ÿคฏ

Shhhh, if they don't say it out loud then they can't be held accountable for being garbage people.

Like a child, hiding behind their own fingers and thinking that means mommy can't see them.

Keep up the good work, it might not always work, but the times that it does are priceless.

There are a decent amount of teenagers where I work and I try to pass that idea on to as many as I can. Adults too, of course, but it's really satisfying to be able to catch people while they're young and still have loads of time to protect themselves... From a lot of things.

Palestinian civilians are not Hamas.

Same. I've had two traumatic childbirths for different reasons. I do not care to be reminded of the experience.

As do pizza joint employees.

Some of us will never be able to forget...

I vote myself, but at the same time I understand the apathy especially from the younger generations.

You came out swinging with a lot of pent up frustration, dude. The other commenter says they do vote. I grant you they didn't mention the primary, but I have no reason to believe they don't vote in the primary, too.

So I also encourage others to do the same, but I don't look down on anyone for not voting.

I feel like this is where you meant to put your energy, since you said you DO look down on people who don't vote but do complain. But we need both kinds of people in the world. Some people respond better to patience, others to a kick in the butt. You're both doing it right as long as you're both trying to convince people to vote.

No, no, no, the religion that they choose to believe in (and cherry pick from) is vastly different than something someone is born with, and can't change. Duh.

Lol, those percentages are so accurate and it's so sad ๐Ÿ˜‚ Even medicated there's a chance my brain just will. not. prioritize what we had discussed focusing on.

Man that looks so much like my missing black cat.. if you happen to live in Texas let me know. Just in case.

Wow that's so fucked up, I can't imagine what that must feel like... All those memories, the time, the family treasures, gone...

And to be able to watch it happen.. I don't even know what I'd choose. Probably not to watch, honestly.

I don't have Twitter, so I don't know who the person in question is. I'm choosing to believe it's Elon himself. He's been one for skipping out on bills lately so that tracks.

I'm really sorry you're dealing with this! That has to be nerve wracking! I hope it ends well!

Same, but apparently Italians hate us for that ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

It's soo much easier to deal with tho!

Huh, Boost broke for me a week-ish ago. I'm waiting with baited breath for Boost for Lemmy to be up an running.

Yep, sure. I'm okay with that. It makes more sense that someone else buys the company than to throw it in the trash, but regardless I don't see how "they make good products" is an excuse for the manipulation of our government on the scale they've engaged in.

If more corporations faced the death penalty for the shit they pull they'd be way less likely to pull it. (To be clear I'm referring to the company being sold and/or the leaders going to jail, depending on the offense, not literally executing the heads of corporations)

They help me push past my executive disfunction, most importantly, but also to stay focused and on task. They also kind of act as a ritual that starts a "Get it done" mindset, like taking my pill sets my intention for the day.

I had to go off my meds for a few months, and while my habits were harder to do, they weren't impossible like they felt before I had built them. I was able to rely on habit muscle memory.
