The answer is yes, yes they are that desperate.
Well that's terrifying.
My husband is currently taking naltrexone, so I just wanted to hop on here and say to anyone that is considering taking it, please be careful and do your research! It's not that the medication is bad, but you should prepare for it before you start, especially if you currently drink in high quantities. My husband went to a psychiatrist who specializes in substance use, she gave him an RX for naltrexone but didn't provide really any resources or advice about how to approach it. The first night, he decided to drink maybe half of his normal nightly amount of alcohol - he vomited multiple times, had bad chills, etc. There's also risk of seizures if you try to quit or taper down from alcohol too quickly. After that night, he decided that he would only take half his naltrexone dose at first and would taper down very slowly. Things have been going much better for the last few weeks. Also, you really need someone to help you stay accountable if you're going to try an at-home detox. In our case, we locked up all of the alcohol in our house (I keep the key). And I'm in the room with my husband while he drinks a specific amount of vodka each night. Since that first night, I don't think he's really had any significant side effects.
I saw this posted elsewhere a few days ago, and people made a good point that folks who are blind or have limited vision still go to concerts and will buy those tickets. The price is another I guess, but the seats themselves are valuable to the blind community.
Off brand Bagel Bites are a big nope for me.
I tried to use glow-in-the-dark thread for a Halloween piece and it did not work at all. I was so disappointed. Some people online suggested holding it up to a bright light for a while, I did that and still nothing š
Nap
I was just listening to a bunch of Grant Lee Buffalo/Grant-Lee Phillips last week in a bout of Gilmore Girls troubador nostalgia.
The song āMedicineā from this EP is one of my favs.
I loved seeing Purity Ring live. They know how to put on a great visual performance.
I can hear in my head the "oo ooooo oo OO oo oo - oooooo ooOO." I listened that song a bajillion times in high school.
Iām currently digging Alpha Zulu by Phoenix.
Hmm maybe! I honestly don't know what to compare them too, just makes my ears happy :D
Mansard Roof has always felt very summery to me.
Feels Like Summer by Weezer. Too on the nose? š
I listened to so much Tegan & Sara in high school and college. I kind of lost interest when they put out Heartthrob, it just didnāt sound like āthemā anymore. But I recently listened to some of their newer stuff. I particularly liked Hey, Iām Just Like You, which I think sounds very much like a natural progression of āoldā T+S.
Welp, TIL that some absolute classics came out in 1993! Hard to choose, but Iām gonna have to say Creep by Radiohead.
Itās off their new album. The lead singer said this about the subject matter: āāJawsā is a song about the expectations that come along with adulthood: marriage, buying a home, having kids, white picket fences. I have to wonder if we all truly want those things or if we follow suit out of fear and peer pressure."
For me, it makes me think about the overall experience of being female and the expectations and pressures that come along with that.
You and your daughter are both so talented!
P.S. I tried to listen to Such Wonder and Iām not sure if Iām doing something wrong but it wouldnāt let me listen on Spotify or Qobuz. On Spotify itās grayed out, on Qobuz I got an error msg. It could just be my phone but I thought Iād say something in case itās a larger issue.
My Sony headphones for sure. I have the WH-1000XM4. Iām sure thereās something better out there but Iām not enough of an audiophile to know, lol. As bluetooth headphones go, theyāre pretty solid.
Damn well Iām glad I got the XM4 then. They were so highly recommended everywhere I read about them online, and I think they mostly live up to the hype.
P.S. They only put a couple of their albums on YouTube, but all 5 albums are on Spotify.
Damn. I heard about them canceling the rest of their tour, but I didn't know about the last minute cancelations. Bummer for the people who came to the show only to have to turn around and go home, but I get it. Mental health is important.
Woah, what's the story behind them not showing up?
I like it! Good share.
I was wondering why you got downvoted, but I think it might be bc your post went through 3 times. I see that happening to a lot of ppl on Lemmy - stuff getting posted multiple times in a row.
Edit: Not on Spotify. Bummer.
Well, I live in the U.S. and I've never heard of mutual aid, nor have I ever heard anyone I know mention it. So it may be partly that folks like myself just don't know about it.
