You don't earn the title "Me" generation without being legendarily self important.

The UN Chief resigning as a result would be a show of power. Calling for it and not getting is a show of weakness.

If you add funny to that list you get Dan Harmon.

If you're asking because you don't know how truly awful and scary AfD is: AfD is truly awful and the prospect of them gaining control is very scary. One of the world's richest people can make things happen in politics.

If you're asking because Musk supporting right wing politics is well known: yeah but see above. AfD is scary shit.

Cool. Now lower interest rates so I can at least dream about the prospect of owning a house again.

This is a republican problem. They renegged the budget, they caused the shutdown, they ousted their speaker when he swerved to avoid it. The republicans have all the votes they need to not fuck over the constituents. All they have to do is their job. Dems know they won't do it. Every second republicans are burning political capital.

Not one mention in this thread of Net Neutrality. How quick we are to forget.

"Oh it's for AI. Gross."

I feel also really frustrated to know that a pedophile or any criminal is able to escape justice because the encryption is good enough

How do you know something that's provably false? Pedophiles who evade justice are not doing careless things that need end to end encryption, like backing up their porn to iCloud. The problem doesn't start or end with encryption. The policy is entirely about privacy and has nothing to do with protecting children.

Honestly I'm on team insurance in these cases. The US is filthy rich and we have tons of highly habitable land. Why are we wasting resources subsidizing some people choosing to live in comfortable, risky locations?

For those stuck in poverty: that does suck but I consider that an independent issue.

RealPage needs to be dismantled and entire C-suite jailed. If Wall St isn't scared to death of making price fixing trusts then we are all in very deep shit.

You wouldn't want high school boys running around with enlarged dictions.

The converse is that SEO spam has become better at the game than google, despite google's best efforts. It's a less comfortable thought because how could a bunch of unorganized distributed actors out compete the one of the world's richest company at their bread and butter game. The alternative is that one of the world's richest companies gave up playing their bread and butter game.

the shit I made up

Ah, so you've applied a similar amount of rigor as the founding fathers.

That's 50x smaller than an EV battery. Being able to drive once every two months doesn't seem practical.

I feel like idubbbz peaked around hair cake.

The Forbes article seems to be citing numbers that are now a few weeks out of date. They cite that Tesla drivers have 23.54 accidents per 1,000 drivers and Ram has 22.76. If you go to their source link you'll see that the more recent numbers are Tesla: 31.13 and Ram: 32.90.

Ram in MA is 64.44 and I want these fucking things outlawed.

Rolling to 75 is more relevant in MA where onramps to highways are 50 feet long, but 0 to 60 is correlated.

Jeez and I feel like I'm tempting fate just by using a custom domain.

You'd rather rape rates be higher because the knob we know we can turn is slightly distasteful?

Edit: GP is a coward and edited their comment rather than try to defend their pro-rape stance.

Yeah but they were particle accelerators that shot electrons towards your face at relativistic speeds (the phosphor grid and lead lining made use more pleasurable). That's just too damn cool.

This is a good idea if they only put it in public service government issue cars.

Why aren't the Free Speechers protesting this?

You realize "repeating arm" is essentially an AR-15? If you think the second amendment covers repeating arms like the AR-15 then what is your argument?

The same GrapheneOS kicked out of AOSP Alliance for being toxic and shady?

There is 1.4E21 kg of water on Earth. 0.03% of hydrogen is deuterium, a suitable fusion fuel. H2O has an atomic mass of 18 and O has an atomic mass of 16, so Earth has 4.7E16 kg of deuterium readily centrifuged out of ocean water.

D-D fusion converts about 0.1% of mass to energy (4 MeV / c^2 / 4 Daltons). E=mc^2. So we have 4.2E30 (420E28) Joules of fusion fuel ready for us on Earth. We used 2400 TWh of energy last year. If we used this amount indefinitely then we would have 485 billion years of fuel.

Bonus: deuterium depletion would have virtually no environmental effect.

High speed receivers are much more complex than transmitters. Just shoving some bits down the line with a bit of emphasis filter training is not that tricky. Tuning a receiving emphasis filter while simultaneously recovering the clock and performing error correction requires many more transistors, which uses more power and costs more to produce. HDMI receiver chips on digikey are 2-10x more expensive than transmitter chips.

Beyond the technical reasons, there is the fact that media companies have a vested interest in not having video input being prolific. They have a long history of fighting technologies such as VCRs. In the shadowy internet era you can let your imagination run wild with what motivations they set up in what industries to make HDMI receivers less prolific.

Also, for those talking about HDMI over Ethernet: be careful. HDMI is actually quite high bandwidth. There's a reason the cables stop working after a few feet and it isn't because they're poorly designed or manufactured (though that's surely the case for crap you get on amazon). Cat 1 million isn't magic. It's still beholden to Shannon's limit in copper twisted pair. You can't shove 25 GbE over any copper longer than a few meters of TwinAx. There are plenty of solutions on the market that are too good to be true and simply won't work at the pixel clocks they advertise, yet will happily take hundreds of your dollars and weeks of your time.

What's the oxygen situation like?

It’s fairly apparent that the person you’re replying to is referring to modern society’s obsession with producing as much meat as we do, not the concept of eating meat as a whole.

Complete and utter bullshit. Don't move goalposts because you don't want to concede a point. They explicitly said:

I truly believe that future generations will look back on eating meat as a barbaric mistake

That doesn't even remotely imply there is a quantity of meat consumption that is morally acceptable.

There are certainly more humane ways. Would you consider drowning or burning someone equivalent to lethal injection? That doesn't sit right with anyone.

I've played 439 consecutive solitaire daily challenges.

Wi-Fi has constant retransmissions. This adds perceptible latency because the checksum check, turnaround, and packet transmission add a lot of time compared to the speed of light through air across 3 meters.

Dropping someone into the sun and ejecting someone from the solar system both take a lot of energy compared to an orbital transfer to a planet with a similar orbital altitude.

Maybe they can stick the landing this time. All they needed to do was show one shot of the pack of four cats reunited during the credits. The parallel theme between the pack of four stray cats and the crew of four robots called the outsiders was an essential part of the plot and then they just leave it hanging.

Everyone here claiming to have the answer are identifying things that aren't true in other places in the world that have the same problem: right wing extremist populism.

Honest answer: it's fragile. There are many cases of media durability being an issue and there will be going into the future. Adding a layer of ecc in the fs goes a long way.
