Wintermute is a distinct entity from the physical mainframe; its mind is only a part of another "potential entity", an aspect of its brain.

Defederated. What a waste of resources.

back then, we all thought they were our normal breakfast spoons until we accidentally found photos of our roommates abusing them as sex toys

All I can say is it would be a big, big loss.

Beehaw made me believe in the idea of building a healthy network, especially in the beginnings.
I remember the day I asked Chris to federate with us, we used allow-lists, and maybe this should have been the way to go, considering how much trash has happened in the meantime.

I totally agree with your criticism about the state of the platform itself, slow progress, missing and broken mod-tools etc. unfortunately it seems that development cannot keep up with the speed of growth and the associated demands.

So, imho, you make the Fediverse a better place that's why I hope you stay ;)

Running an instance myself, the lack of mod-tools is very frustrating for quite some time now. I totally agree with pretty much all improvements beehaw suggested in the past to solve these issues. It's a shame how this topic is handled...

Cool, thanks to all contributers!!!

we’ll be pushing to expedite the process of developing some of the necessary tools.

Yes, please. The mod-tools are pretty basic, if existent.

Calibre-Web can be used remotely just fine...?

no, sry ;)

Hosting an instance myself, I'm not amused, because if forces my instance to literally sync all content there is on the lemmyverse, drastically increasing traffic, storage use etc.

Please don't force resource consumption beyond any rational usage!

It is a significant difference if an instance has to federate literally every post made on the lemmyverse.

Although I like the idea, unfortunately, automated posting without proper moderation puts all the mod work on federated instances admins?

Patience, my friend, I'm travaling off-grid lately

Afterward it’s not significant.

Sorry, but unfortunately, it is, forcing a instance to sync literally every single post made on the lemmyverse.

I rented Populous for SNES as a kid but they didn’t have a manual so that was a pretty tough one to figure out.

Same for me, on the Amiga500, especially finding out how hero-raids and Armageddon work ^^

Played the crap out of Maniac Mansion but didn’t realize it was before the PC point and click craze

Got it on the C64, did you find out all five possible endings?
I freaked out finding the fuel for the chainsaw in Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders ;)

Maybe check out your browsers web speech api

Without specific data, it's difficult to make any definitive conclusions about efficiency or the extent of 🇩🇪 impact on your feed.
Please provide solid data, so we can further optimize.

Personally I 'd prefer windy over tailwind, also I wonder if there is any significant userbase behind leptos. Infernojs was already a strange choice in that matter, compared to e.g. vuejs.

Back then, when you wanted some new games you could:

  • buy them (over expensive)
  • trade some on cassette tapes at the schoolyard
  • Go to the library, grab some source code books, have fun programming them

Wrote my own text-adventure when I was 10, since then I came across Basic, Turbo Pascal, JS, Java, AS, Lua, Python, C++, maybe some more 😵‍💫

I love to add ginger too, and some guarana for extra caffeine ;)

Managing 1.2k posts / day, sounds like a challenge

inferno

While I do understand not using googles or metas framework, I wonder why they chose such an unpopular one, and not smth. like vuejs

You can find the answer to that question in the linked release notes. (What is unique to Forgejo)

Since the entire goal of the fediverse is “transporting” all data to all servers inside the ActivityPub/fediverse world, the data of a EU member will be transported all over the place.

It doesn't work like that, think of your instance being a proxy to the fediverse
