Jokes on you, I wasn't young then, either. Hahaha, oh wait...

Good tldr

Watched a few minutes of it and basically it's just game trailers. It's an industry award show, there's not much to say about it.

Person who loses a game of musical chairs, sues the guy who rented out the room.

I guess the joke is that someone is using logic and reasoning to figure out what propels a car as though it was some great mystery that needed to be analyzed and thought about. I don't think it's very funny and it could have also been your friend's delivery.

People say it in person a lot. Another factor might be that some people view it coming across as either non genuine or passive aggressive in written form.

Also Russia and probably most eastern European countries. One of my kids will catch a cold and the first thing my mother or grandmother will ask is if they were somewhere drafty.

Can't go anywhere without mine now. Movies, sporting events, bars. Just way too loud without earplugs

Isn't it more like $20 or whatever the difference is between the regular version and this special edition? Still kind of dumb, but at least it is a bit more reasonable.

I think they believe it will blow all the air out of the room

Moments before disaster

The difference between wine grapes and regular grapes is the variety. If you've ever heard names like Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, those are not only the type of wine, but also the variety of grape. Those grapes are also typically not very edible. For edible grapes I imagine it works similar to other food production. The farmer sells it to a distributor who in turn sells it to wholesalers who then sell it to stores, factories, etc. Or sometimes the farmer might have a direct contract with a large grocery chain.

Yep same thing with all those ads like 90% fail this. They're designed to drive engagement. Best thing you can do is stop doom scrolling. Failing that, ignoring those obvious attempts to get you to respond.

I'm guessing they think it's pronounced balony

One of the things they are alleging is that the books were acquired illegally

About 20 years ago I spent about $2k on a piece of electronic music gear on eBay. I was just out of university and this was a huge sum for me. It soon turned out that it was a fraudulent listing. This guy had gotten access to his girlfriend's eBay account and posted a bunch of high value auctions and stole the money. A bunch of us victims were in touch and commiserating about our bad fortune. However, this story has a happy ending. The police got involved and were able to recover the money!

That was comedy gold. Learned all the good flexes

Ah yes the African planet. Real TOS reject episode vibes.

Empty stores, somehow, store managers had a perverse incentive to keep store inventory levels low. Their prices were really high as well. A rushed SAP implementation meant that executives didn't have enough insight into business operations. You can read more here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_Canada

In world rankings US typically ranks dead last in a lot of metrics. Guess who ranks right next to them? That's basically the problem, we're so obsessed with the fact that we have it better than the US we aren't willing to look at other countries and what they do better. As long as we don't have "US style" healthcare that's good enough for most people here.

Think about what your age is on Feb 28 and March 1 on non leap years.

This is likely a class action lawsuit waiting to happen.

This is my worry as well

Makes it easier to figure out potential tax burden

Well written and engaging. Thanks for sharing

Possibly started with a different volume then through shrinkflation ended up at 618 mL

Pulling features out of the core os and into apps is better for users though. Keeps the os lean and updates can roll out to users quicker.

I left mint a while ago. Just started to feel more and more weird about having to give log in info to my financial institutions. Especially once most of them started needing 2FA.

I think that's a skewed way of looking at it. I can see the appeal if your family is able to take advantage. Like if your kids are off and your spouse doesn't work (or maybe can also work remotely). That way you can enjoy some nicer weather and a different location and are able to stay longer. It's definitely not for me because like you said I'd rather just have a vacation, but I think blaming it on capitalism is a bit of an odd way of looking at what's essentially someone's lifestyle choice.

Maybe in the US. Most tax cuts that happen in Canada at least don't tend to have an expiry. Although new governments do tend to reverse previous government's tax policy. Although it tends to apply to tax policy across the board.

Ah Reddit Lake has made it to Lemmy

I think this is something you can only do in the webapp at the moment

I liked the strange new worlds time travel episode. It was tongue in cheek and a real fun episode with some character building.

When I was in France this past spring I did see advertisements for Burger King so they must have had some success. I do remember McDonald's having great dessert options.
