Had this happen today. Was searching for some programming related stuff and top pages are all inaccessible Reddit posts.

Isn't there something with disco elysium and whoever is profiting off of it now is not the original creators?

If they think that their API costs were high imagine how expensive paid moderation is.

I hadn't even thought that was a limitation

The issue I have with memes is that you end up with the same low effort meme posts:

"does anyone remember this forgotten gem? (image of best selling game)"

"When your custom character is in a cutscene"

"You're 12 again, school is over and you're about to play (massively popular game)"

Etc

I feel like maybe there should just be a gaming memes community. For that sort of content.

Yep it took me a while to figure out too. The android app just lets you click on the comment as well to collapse

I'm one of the new users and I do have to say the fact that I had to jump through less hoops to sign up with .world was a big reason why I signed up there. When you're trying something new the less friction the better to acquire new users. I don't want to write an essay on why I want to get an account. I know we want to minimize bots, but there are other ways to do that than throwing unnecessary road blocks in front of users who are skeptical to join to begin with.

Me too, not too crazy busy yet, but basically that Reddit feel from 10 years ago for me when I started using it.

My go to is just screaming

Pic of the tree so we know what we're dealing with?

Rushing out general purpose AI, what could go wrong

I'd imagine you're rather unique. I have a hard time imagining atheists believing in something as nebulous as a soul.

EDIT: Please don't downvote OP, if anything this is a more interesting discussion thread than just "No, we're just meat and electricity"

Absolutely. Some exist now, but if you feel passionate about a game you can create a community for it. Someone had to start one on Reddit back in the day, so you can create one here too.

What is the ! community? Is that some sort of lemmy specific magic name?

The funny thing is on Reddit I was mostly a lurker/content consumer. There was little incentive to actually post because your post or comment was likely to just be drowned out in the absolute torrent of other posts/comments. Here I'm actually able to be heard.

I recently watched a French movie called La Haine which is basically about the same thing this movie was released nearly 30 years ago so things have not changed much it seems.

Right, why participate if it's just going to be buried under the mountain of other content.

Being in a stroller and the sun being incredibly bright overhead. Must have been around 2 years old.

Plus everything is just a bit broken and requires some figuring out. I'm definitely pretty tech savvy, but I'm having a hard time imagining non tech savvy people figuring out how to sign up and access these communities, at least not in the current state of things.

Now let's see Paul Allen's instance

Better than 8388409 rows deleted at least.

Basically yep. Loved Watch Dogs 1 and 2 though. Legion basically suffered from storyline problems so all the random collectathon stuff really got tiring. Didn't even finish it. I'd be willing to give this a chance especially if I can get it on sale later down the line.

I only played the one that was free on ps plus last year. It was good, but I absolutely hated the difficulty jump towards the end of the game. Where you basically had to grind the arena in order to level up your party enough to get through the last bit of the game.

Really good summary. I think this is exactly why I never really took to Twitter and I never really realized why, but it's exactly that. I'm more interested in topics than specific people.

Someone made a fork of 0.34 until the 0.18 upgrade issues are sorted out

Until there's a bit more traffic I think just one thread is fine

Good lord, they'll do anything to push their app eh?

I honestly didn't event know this was a genre (aside maybe from football manager) until a few days ago. Getting super overwhelmed by the depth of these games, but watching through tutorials to try to get a handle on it.

Yep that's exactly what I was trying to convey. It does feel like the early internet days when everything was just a bit broken and streamlined UX was not at the forefront of tech. The primary users were the geeks that could figure this stuff out.

FWIW the pre release build is actually in a pretty good state right now

I tried the game about 3 years back and it was a glitch filled mess. How are you finding it now?
