People would think a CEO is too rich and important to get personally involved with this, but I swear reading the shill comments and how personal they take things makes me think spez himself is behind them pounding on his keyboard all day lol

Maybe he's not saying anything but then will drop a fully polished app out of nowhere like that Beyoncé album

Agreed, Reddit was needing a culling, I’m all for this fresh start even if it’s less people. Hate to sound like a internet hipster but something can become too mainstream lol

That one’s handy, this one also good:

And these good for some general browsing:

But the strain and concentration required causes you to dump your drawers.

There's also the longer term effect that could be in play of the content pool drying up and driving users away, those changes are reverberations and wouldn't be having a dramatic immediate effect.

Right now if anything I'd expect views to be spiking due to the content generated from the drama itself. Once that dies out then damages to content generation from driving away users will be more evident.

I'm all for the spez hate train, but insulting someone's appearance makes me question what she looks like rofl

  • Owner and staff known to be questionable assholes
  • They did questionable stuff to try and make it to the top like astroturfing with fake accounts and stealing peers from other trackers
  • They were one of first to start charging for signups
  • The fact they state that they delete accounts and your only option is to make a new one
  • Around the time they started charging a lot of people like myself found our accounts mysteriously gone and them wanting us to pay to get on the site again (I remember being pissed and going to reddit to complain and reading similar stories there)
  • Basically the site is really scummy and did whatever they had to do to become big so that they could make money and grift the community and is not inline with the principals most other private tracker communities promote.
  • IPT Browser..
  • They had a $5/ticket raffle that it's believed the winners were fake IPT accounts

Honestly, I could probably keep this up all day if I kept thinking about it but imma stop here.

Moving accounts between instances isn’t a thing yet right?

Torrents, I like the community and indefinite retention. And with 1gbps home connections becoming more common staying in ratio has become way easier.

I use this until they implement it as a built in option

Yea between the enshitificaiton of the internet and how far selfhost software has come it is a great time to selfhost and will just keep getting better.

Selfhosting, reddit drama, kbin, all this just makes it seem like the internet is having a sort of grassroots, back to basics movement which I'm all for lol.

Yea my gf at the time all the sudden started complaining that putting stuff up the butt was painful, so I put my finger in my own butt to prove that it's not painful at all and she probably had developed a medical condition like anal fissures or something. And I was right, it was literally like 0/10 painful.

Tailscale, super easy install, sets up a VPN into your services, no port opening needed

Wow, one of my favorite games as a kid. I even just started to replay it recently, guess I'll put a pause on that lol.

Looks like they are also making some changes to the battle system which is great, the graphics held up ok like you said, but I feel like the combat is actually the part that aged the worst.

A stand-alone media file renamer/organizer with a nice webui that supports hard links.

Since I automate my torrent downloads I basically use the arr suite for just renaming and organizing which kinda over complicates things.

@ramboteng Your brain cells will thank you

geekhack for keyboard group buys
my various private torrent tracker forums, ptp, red, etc

Hopefully this link works, first time linking to another instance:

Man the general trackers are such a shit show. Back in the day I had my TL ratio drop randomly and I logged in just to see there were a bunch of downloads logged to my account that weren't me. Went in their IRC to point it out their shit was fucked and they got all defensive and tried to make it seem like I was trying to pull something malicious on them. I just quit the site out of spite after that and went inactive.

Then I joined IPT which is sketch af, but then one day I just logged in to find my account was deleted and they wanted money or some shit to get a new one, so naturally I was outta there.

.. Now I just dont have a general tracker.. I guess I should be paying attention to the suggestions here too lol

PS
I miss SCC

You know.. that's not a bad idea, I just need a general tracker for dumb stuff that's now allowed on my niche trackers such as cams, Usenet would be perfect for that.. time to go down the rabbit hole and figure it all out again lol

@zpoex Nextcloud is always a handy one

Nope, do whatever suits you!

I would say tho the example you made is one of the infamous cases where docker is more difficult to setup than without due to the file locations of your movies, etc needing to match between dockers. When I set it up I found a really good guide that not only explained how to set it up but they also explained the logic and reason behind the issue.

https://wiki.servarr.com/docker-guide#consistent-and-well-planned-paths

Another good guide about the issue:
https://trash-guides.info/Hardlinks/How-to-setup-for/Docker/

The reason I’d initially recommend docker to a beginner is it keeps everything clean and organized, it’s easy to undo mistakes while learning, and I feel some apps are easier to setup with docker because they come with the dependencies already installed and configured properly.

  1. Follow docker install guide for raspi
  2. Browse awesome-selfhosted and find services that seem interesting to you or ask for recs here.
  3. Follow the projects guide to do a docker install
  4. (Bonus) Setup a reverse proxy like nginx proxy manager so you can access your services with urls
  5. (Bonus) Setup domain and a service such as Tailscale so you can access your services safely from outside your home.

Np, I would say dm me if you have any questions but I dunno if you can message between lemmy and kbin haha

Just curious, is bear still popular and actively developed? I moved to Obsidian a long time ago and never bothered to check back on it.

Funny story, I spilt coke all over my first mechanical keyboard. I tried everything to fix it, water, rice, alcohol. After all that it still felt horrible so I ended up just buying a new one. But I didn't throw it away, I just stuck it in my closet where it remained for years.

Then approximately 8 years later, I take it out, randomly decide to try typing on it.. its perfect. Felt just like it did when it was new, I dunno if the sugar just broke down or degraded over time or what, but it was fixed.

So if nothing else, just put it into storage for a decade and then try it out again lol.

I like RackNerd

Cheap as hell

Nice, I might just do that plus the Grammarly free, just want to do some technical writing for my community wiki and wanted it to sound good lol

I agree, I wouldn’t use the always on feature, would just be for a specific project.

I mean since then RPGs have kinda evolved by either moving to faster, more action based systems, or the ones who remained turn-based just do it really really well with customization and strategy like Persona or Dragon Quest.

But Super Mario RPG system was already kinda of dated even for its time, don't get me wrong, I loved it, but compared to a title like FF6 with its esper system, status, relics, and what not, Super Mario RPG for most of the game just boils down to do damage, do more damage while spending a resource, or heal. With the timed hits to make things a little more interesting.

But based on the preview looks like it should have some more depth this time around!

I’m on kbin.social and I can see this ;)
