OPNSense router handles auto SSL certificate renewals, Unbound (DNS) and HA Proxy ( for reverse proxy ).

Gitea instance for all of my docker-compose configs and documentation.

Joplin server and Joplin clients for easy notes available on all my devices.

Thanks, I’ll give it a look.

Is there a DE with an onscreen keyboard that can be used in the terminal?

The onscreen keyboard used with Plasma (steam deck as well) is missing CTRL and other keys needed when navigating a terminal. It also fails to pop up on electron apps.

You entered the Linux Desktop scene at an awkward time, using an NVIDIA card.

Linux Mint’s packages are old. I would never recommend anyone to use Mint with an NVIDIA card. Not recently at least.

We just hit a compatibility point ( this week ) with the NVIDIA drivers and popular DE’s like KDE Plasma and GNOME which provides an excellent Wayland experience. Distro’s like CachyOS and Nobara Linux are probably one of the only ones taking advantage of this so far. Besides those of us who roll their own.

I have to admit, a proprietary web browser hardly seems like a reason to stress out. If the browser is a deal breaker, is it specific to Mint and whatever version of the driver you had installed?

Well it didn’t “brick” your system. You probably simply got a black screen because the method of installing the latest driver failed. Mint is the wrong distro for gaming on NVIDIA for now.

I highly recommend Nobara for fedora based or CachyOS for Arch based ( gnome or KDE Plasma). They take special care on things like GFX drivers and auto setup things that might be missed. Also both of those DE’s leverage the latest NVIDIA drivers taking advantage of the latest fixes.

555.58 is the most recent NVIDIA driver.

Again, an awkward time.

This is a dev kit. This is not for normal people to use. RISC-V is not there yet, but this is a good first step.

The TV show for sure helps. But people are playing it because they like it. There was a ton of work put into the game since its original release.

Proceeds to then write a detailed timeline of the events that will occur. Either this is a joke or someone needs to be talked too by an adult and explained how the human body works.

Hey OP! Food In == Food Out

There’s no way around it.

But I also understand the people who can't bring themselves to vote for a guy supporting a genocide

If people have this view, then they should be even more concerned about a Trump second term. I’m sorry, this is unacceptable and it’s exhausting seeing it repeated on this platform. It shows a clear lack of understanding on how we’ve made progress in this country and a concerning misuse of emotion over critical thinking.

Modern governance has always been an uphill battle. Don’t throw away progress, as little as it may be. It’s still progress and gaining an inch every day is almost always better than going back a foot. It may take years to get that inch.

If we want change, start local and work up. Campaign for the people who see the world the way you do and fight for them. Organize. Not voting is by far one of the dumbest and most un-American thing you can do.

Everytime I’ve looked into it, it seemed like the technology just wasn’t there yet. I remember a few years ago Linus TT took a shot at it, but in the end suggested the technology (for non-commercial entities) just wasn’t in a comfortable spot yet.

I had a sever in my basement running proxmox ( actually ended up doing it all manually eventually ), with a windows gaming VM and handful of utility Linux servers in 2015? The only problem being Windows games using kernel level anti cheat.

I get it really comes down to GPU sharing and I think it’s doable on consumer GPUs now but I’m not sure about gaming. Honestly the tech has been here for a long time. But companies like NVIDIA held on forever to the GPU resource sharing features and kept it away from consumer cards.

I’m a bit older these days and have gone through many generations of hardware with a different setup. I keep two or more GFX cards on hand. Latest always goes to my workstation while last gen is thrown in my sever and used by all my docker containers. Then have an older Xeon with 24 bays that I use for storage.

Didn’t they do that already? I thought Microsoft offered low end Xbox with a subscription when they first launched gamepass?

if you use Apple Music and have a desktop/laptop look into Cider 2. Incredible streaming music player. https://cider.sh/

The nice thing about Tidal is the attention to detail about the music or album you’re listening to. You get writers, producers and recording musicians for all the tracks. Sometimes additional Artwork.

Apple had the right idea all those years ago when they were selling those enhanced digital albums. Almost felt like purchasing a vinyl or cd and getting all the goodies that come with it. INCLUDING properly crediting the artists. Not sure they do that very well anymore.

Universal Windows Platform (UWP)

These apps are from their AppStore will not run with proton. If Microsoft decided to Xbox’ PC gaming, I think that would warrant concern.

One year is nothing.

Learn as much as you can from the people around you at your current position.

Find a new technology or existing one you want to improve/learn and create a project out of it that you can do at home.

Look for ways to improve your productivity.

Become a SME.

One day you will own a project, helping the new guy and be the person people come to if they have questions.

Put in the time. You’ll find your way.

I honestly don’t know anything about OSMV OSMC besides what I just read on their site.

Streaming services are gonna be an issue. I’m guessing you’re going to have to hope kodi addons are working. If you happen to find one that works, at best you will get 1080p, probably 720p depending on the service.

Everyone has their preferences. But ya just need to throw a Roku / Google / AppleTV behind it.

There you go. Give the kid who doesn’t understand the basics of the human body advice on how to colon cleanse a day before the trip. I’m sure it will turn out just fine.

https://tailscale.com/blog/docker-tailscale-guide

I used the above link to start on my project. I’m trying to add Tailscale service to my existing docker-compose files to forward all traffic on the primary container to an exit node. It works, but I’m not able to find a way to access the web apps on those containers that are forwarding their traffic. Looks like you are well beyond this guide.

Best of luck.

Target disk mode is performed during boot and was first introduced in 1991.

From what I remember , US claimed those UN resolutions didn’t include what they considered to be a complete hostage exchange. So they presented their own resolution including that. Headlines seem to leave that part out.

EDIT: I’m not placing an opinion on anything here. I’m just making a comment about how Biden has publicly reiterated the importance of including full hostage exchanges into those resolutions.

US decided to present their own resolution after exclusive talks with Israel. So who knows what Israel is willing to compromise on or not. It seems Israel has been difficult to work with if you read his statements.

I’m not even following this very closely. There are an incredible amount of articles out there. I encourage everyone to read them and avoid headline browsing. Come to your own conclusions.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/terror-and-security/benjamin-netanyahu-israel-antony-blinken-united-states-gaza/

So far, Mr Netanyahu has undermined or flatly rejected all US-brokered attempts at ending the conflict, saying that only “total victory” will suffice.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/19/politics/us-un-security-council-temporary-ceasefire-draft-intl/index.html

On Friday, President Joe Biden told reporters at the White House that he’s had “extensive conversations” with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the last several days where he relayed his position “that there has to be a temporary ceasefire” to secure the safe release of hostages still held by Hamas.

The US draft warns of the effects of an Israeli ground offensive into Rafah, saying it would “result in further harm to civilians and their further displacement including potentially into neighboring countries, which would have serious implications for regional peace and security.”

https://www.npr.org/2024/02/20/1232636543/un-security-council-gaza-cease-fire-vote

The U.S. has vetoed or abstained from voting on previous resolutions on Gaza, while Russia and China have vetoed a U.S. proposal.

It’s a terrible situation I think we all want to see ended immediately. Both sides have said the war will not be over until the other side is completely destroyed. I can’t imagine negotiations are easy.

Spotify Connect

Unless I’m reading this wrong, is this just Spotify’s solution for listening with friends? If so, that’s far from a Spotify exclusive feature.

Edit: Okay. So it’s their version of Airplay. It’s too bad Apple never opened it up. Streaming to remote devices has works for almost 20 years now in the Apple ecosystem.

Article says Russia and China have voted against the US proposal. Feel free to research more on it for the details you’re looking for.

new user to a new platform

Yeah. We’re all just starting here. These fedi apps are barely holding together. Techs been around for a bit but never this many users. We have a lot of work to do. Everyone from the devs to the hosters and the mods. Honestly maybe it is best to just walk away if you’re getting this upset.

It does actually.

Edit: It’s an article about how a company is going to assist in providing RISC 5 dev boards to framework. It’s not about a consumer ready product with a dedicated GPU.

I don’t think I could disagree more. We value the fact that this tech can be scraped, API’d and redistributed. That’s kinda point and partial cause of the protesting going with Reddit at this moment. ???

We have abilities to block it ourselves. We want options and features to customize our personal experiences as we see fit. That’s what we are trying to build here.

I believe they wanted to stress the importance of avoiding the next ground invasion along with both sides releasing hostages. Feel free to read more on it. I’m just a person who read an article.
