Not gonna play them if they include their launcher after game is started from Steam lol.

Imagine hosting a service for anyone else to use it, free of charge, no ads, free & open API, yet some idiots think it's fair to (D)DOS it.

There are more "interesting" targets, worst case - Reddit, who thinks everyone is just a number/noise.

Just leave Lemmy alone. :(

What part is illegal? Are they sharing files on that instance and your instance re-hosts it?

From my understanding, discussions are legal, guides are legal, tips are legal, but actual files (aka "copyrighted content") is illegal. There are no files shared there, links at maximum, but institutions should be after those content-sharing websites, not forums.

I am against this decision and I am happy that I am not part of admins team.

I love Lemmy. Geeks are everywhere. Linux is everywhere.

Seeing "runs flawless on my Linux desktop" on a gaming community is awesome! :)

Lmao no. Just how "vaccines cause autism" never changed...

I really wish there could be tags and sub-tags.

Tag examples:

  • Politics
  • Sport
  • Anime
  • News
  • AI

Sub-tag examples:

  • US
  • Europe
  • Africa
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • F1

Some sort of curated list by Lemmy developers that might change over time depending on user demand.

Then client apps can fetch such list from any server and allow you to apply such filter.

Imagine being able to block whole category of sports? Anime? News? Whatever people want/don't want.

At the beginning I was going to Reddit on and off. Currently, I just stick to Lemmy. Also "Sync for Lemmy" made me incredibly happy.

Telegram is in every way better. My primary reason for prefering Telegram over anything else are bots (API specifically). I mean bots functionality is so awesome that I can't properly describe how awesome it is. <3

IMO if you are asking such question - stick to Bitwarden cloud.

Passwords, at least to me, is something I don't want to lose. I don't trust myself I could provide a proper uptime & security, so I just use cloud version.

I just tried. It's basically https://github.com/xinntao/Real-ESRGAN expect OP's program upscales video, frame by frame, and combines those frames into a new video.

Video looks like it's made by AI. Tried on old video - not sure if old or new video looking better. Contours in new video are difderent with each frame lol.

OP did a great job, but overall technology is not there yet. Videos aren't looking good tbh.

When I come to office (one day per week), I come to have a great time with colleagues. No one forces me, I can work fully remote, it's just nice to have colleagues around. We go for a vape, for a lunch, for a walk. Good times. Ohh, and also few meetings that day, since I live ~150km away from office lol.

I openly say in office that I can't work from office. Basically socializing and that's it. Productivity almost zero.

While on the other hand, working from home is where I shine. I can fully focus on my scripting/coding/automation stuff.

I pirated it. No microtransactions, no online content, no accounts. Just start & play. <3

If such features are available on Steam, I would probably buy it because it would be easier than pirating.

X what? Xvideos? Xxx something? What's x? Ex? Ex Twitter? I am out of the loop. Please explain. /s

Let me give you a tip - if you are planning to play games just like you do with Xbox controller - pick any device you want.

But if you want to have these:

  • Gyro aiming
  • Trackpads (aka "mouse touchpad")
  • Back buttons
  • Self-repair
  • Value (price/performance)
  • Customization freedom (macros, shortcuts layers, virtual menus of bindings in-game, idk many more choices...)

Then you have to pick Steam Deck.

Hell, it should be enough for you to check what are your choices if you break Aya vs Steam Deck display. Where would you get display? How easy it's to replace?

With Steam Deck it's iFixIt and they have parts, quality guides and tools for everything. What does Aya have?

I guess this is the future that will come sooner or later...

Btw if someone doubts about it - it's already happening. Here is the example.

Firefox/Librewolf/Waterfox/etc? Which one is best?

I would say this - use Firefox. If trying to use Firefox on work laptop and it was enshitted by your company's group policies, then Waterfox sounds like nice alternative which is unlikelly going to be impacted by GP.

HP

You fucking what? 😂😂😂😂😂

Seriously, there might be a debate of what printer company is better, but there is no debate which one is worst. It's HP. 😅 They are so bad that they have no competitors of the worst fucking printer company. xD

Myself I got Brother printer. Works like a charm, no bullshits. People on Reddit also highly recommend this brand too. Totally agree.

This is healther alternative to smoking and way easier to quit.

Quiting is relatively easy if done the right way - add less and less nicotine shot to each bottle until you start forgetting your vape. For example, go from 3mg/ml to 0mg/ml in the period of 6 months.

Least offensive linux user

Sounds like you are after performance and not portability. Don't you think a gaming laptop would be a better choice?

With performance comes the battery penalty - max 1.5-2 hours on battery. I usually find myself playing more indie games in Steam Deck rather than AAA games.

Same for Linux platform - PC.

Left after 2.5 months in a company, had 2 weeks annual leave before leaving on day 1 after returning.

That's IT job and it was in large multinational company. I won't name the company, because it was team's issue, not a company's issue. Also the company moved out of the country so it's in the past anyway.

Basically manager was on power trip - think of "everyone sucks except me", or "I don't have time for this shit" sort of thinking. One moment "hey my best friend!!!" sort of behavior, another moment treats you like shit with almost being passive aggressive all the time. Few examples what happened:

  • "We've already agrees on this" and "we already discussed this" or "you need to understand what sort of answer you expect before asking". These were the answers most of the time to my qiestions.
  • Can say "fuck you" in front of colleagues. Yet some of the colleagues tolerated it. 🤷
  • Blames you for a minor reason. Treats like shit.

During the annual leave, when there was around week left, I started having annexiety/panic attacks. Wake up in the morning with high heart rate, stresses, that I have to returnt to work in several days. I realised that I have to leave this job, just fuck it.

Luckily, through friends, I found another job few days later. It's been MAJOR upgrade, felt amazing and valued.

Fuck that ex-manager in particular. I know where he works now, and I will never apply to that company at the same time he works there. 🖕

Btw I use unknown OS!

HP is obviously the worst.

HP is special kind of printers shitcompany. They probably spent years on doing market research to understand what people NOT want, so they can do exactly that. 😂

Try to keep them matched up for a better experience.

You forgot "frame latency" 😅

Deniers, flat earthers and antivaxxers will use any misinformation they can to prove someone that they are wrong.

They are not after science. They are after Facebook posts lol. No one will convince them. 😅

I can't love a modern life without following of what's going on in the world. Internet is the only thing that allows us to do this efficiently.

Missing at least these:

  1. Load balancers/Reverse peoxies - Caddy, Traefik.
  2. Missing DNS server "blocky" which I find way better than Pi-Hole.

Nice list, but could have more. :)

Turned out to be a ton of fun and in to a full blown FPV drone hobby/obsession.

Where are you now in regards to this? 😅

It depends. Kind of prefer Flatpaks as they are always working as expected on any distro, but some of them are giving me just too much struggle.

For example, dealing with sandboxing, or especially VSS code app. Yes, there are instructions, but then I install Golang SDK via Flatpaks the hard way (using CLI) for Go development, then having a nightmare trying to setup everything in vss code. Then how tf should I access go binary within my host terminal?

On Arch Linux I just tend to install from official repos, while the rest of apps - from Flatpaks.

Personally I don't like the way they are sandboxed, bit as long as it works I am fine.

You are reffering to "freedom of choice". It's a good thing. <3

Would it be possible to ratelimit connections/requests? Some sort of AI-based blocking? What are current technologies to battle such DDOS attacks?

  • Gaming PC - Dual boot Arch Linux and Windows 11. Arch for everything (literally) and Windows 11 for VR only. I even share the same Steam library between 2 OSes on separate SSD, formatted as btrfs.
  • Work laptop - Arch linux (because I can, we have strict managed-Windows system policy lol).
  • Personal laptop - Arch Linux.

All of them using KDE.

Lmao. Reddit had a chance to reverse this crap. Now it's too late. Can't wait for their IPO.

A bit more "home user friendly" explanation:

Basically your home PC where you download "Linux ISOs". But because you don't like picking everything (movies/tv shows/etc, but not pc games) manually - you want to automate it.

"Automate" is called Jellyfin/Plex and underlaying microservices, such as Radarr, Sonarr, Prowlarr, QBittorrent, Bazarr and so on. You want this to be available 24/7 so it automatically adds content (movies/shows) to your "wishlist", downloads when it becomes available and automatically appears in your Jellyfin/Plex server.

This is why you usually dedicate a server for this, which runs 24/7, usually at home. And I guess you call it "seedbox".

Some other users set up VPN on their server, configure qbittorrent to use ONLY vpn connection (to avoid getting emails from their ISPs for pirated Linux ISOs lol) and call it "seedbox". They first torrent anything to seedbox, then they download from it to their PC. In my case it's not needed, since everything is automated and I access all my "Linux ISOs" from Jellyfin.
