An AI company... They used to manually change system event logs to show it wasn't their software that caused the downtime for our clients.

Bought over a million dollars worth hardware (25% of which didn't even got racked), over 200 46inch LED screens that no one used, and very expensive offices at posh locations in the bid to increase its IPO valuation.

Sadly, forced to use the garbage

Also, this unicorn that rhymes with Infinity, has all it's database service accounts with.... Drum roll.... "Password1". And most of the other secret service accounts and the passwords reside on company wide accessible Atlassian Confluence.

If you disconnect your existing connection, and got a new one using another name, saying that you're new occupant, you can get that new connection discount (over and over again).

Wait, lemme write that down

I think most common people are accustomed to "being fed", rather than exploring for themselves. That's why most of the original platforms were just getting copy pastes from other platforms. Originality requires effort.

I personally have been looking at lemmy thinking what's new... Only to realise that maybe it's time "I" create that new. ~:=~

That'll do pig

Say hello to my little friend

I think when redittors give a product as a solution to a genuine problem asked about in the forums, (like use xyz software to handle your abc issue), that's an advertisement as well and one we can all agree with having.

Maybe, and that's a very distant maybe, if you have a solution that you know would interest people in a specific group, (like some car part deal in a car enthusiastic group), that can be put out there.

In any case, the general courtesy of mentioning your use case (owner, developer or just a user) of the product should be followed.

You mean to say... They are preemptively manipulating people?? Noooo!

I am interested in the "how" part. Do they have such a single interface available?

Do you guys recommend that instance owners publish their monthly costs somewhere, vs donations earned? That could help ensuring instances are kept away from RC Cola® sponsored adverts.

There are network cables, servers, laptops from all those employees who were fucked laid off.

It will be very painful.... For you

It isn't very easy to get hold of for the "uninitiated". Which is partially a good thing, in my opinion. Meaningful interactions require effort.

I feel the need....

Thank you for your service

And not one of you said LAME?? I'm ashamed!

We need to remember that ActivityPub and this entire fediverse is only to allow small, individual communities to live without a major corporation able to pull the plug. It's not privacy centric at all. In fact, quite far from it.

Enabled the "accessibility" option?

For what? removing scales on the face?

I have been thinking about this government id aspect too. But it's not coming to me.

Users sign up with govt ID, obtain a unique social media key that's used for all activities beyond the sign up. One key per person, but a person can have multiple accounts? You know, like that database primary key.

The relationship between the govt id and social media key needs to be in a zero knowledge encryption so that no one can corelate the real person with their online presence. THIS is the bummer.

Plus, remember that there always are people willing to do it for less. Unless customers pitch in.

I agree with the "work required to get away". The User Experience is a huge job. Most open source projects are targeting the functionality.

You can't say that word, no? /s

Social values didn't originate out of thin air. Abrahmic Religions actually introduced them. There is a God.
