You know, it’s beginning to feel like there are too many stupid people in this country to save it.

I reached this conclusion a while ago, and I'm basically in denial of myself. Americans are fucking dumb, they want to be, and they love it!

On issue after issue, other industrialized countries have shown cost-effective solutions that improved the lives of so many. But Americans oppose all of it because of communism and socialism without knowing what either words mean. Because facts don't matter to us; it's how we feel. And we'd sell our souls for individual happiness, especially if everyone is worse off for it.

And, honestly, that's the fundamental appeal of the GOP: they offer to make you better off by making everyone else worse off. Except that promise is cyanide-laced Kool-Aid for regular people.

There’s nothing that makes me feel less American than learning how my fellow Americans think.
