Yeah, I like this idea a lot. Just like programming.dev having a bunch of programming related communities.
Also, it's a bit nice (imo) to not have EVERY community on Lemmy.world.
In any case, I will just follow both.
IMHO, Lemmy.world is better for like general discussion communities such as memes, TIL, AMA, earthpics, etc. Anything on that instance will always be "general". Like, California@lemmy.world would be for like general news and updates but California@artists.social (not a real instance but just as an example) could be all about art and culture.
This has finally made all of this make a bit more sense with the way that's worded. I'm still not sure if I'm doing everything right. If the Portland community I see on the instance I'm on is the right one or the o oy one or what the hell. ππ
