Is having an Android really a deal-breaker for some people?

RealNooshie@lemmy.world to No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world – 543 points –

I asked if people chose iPhone for the blue bubbles elsewhere a couple days ago, and while there was some good discourse on that post, the blue bubbles definitely also came up as a reason.

In my experience, when people find out my texts are green, they oftentimes would rather switch to a different platform altogether like Instagram or just not text at all.

Is this actually a deal-breaker in friendships out there?

What are blue bubbles?

When you text with iMessage/iOS you will get blue text bubbles from people who use iMessage/iOS and green text bubbles from people who use Android/other. I don't have an iPhone so I may not be 100% correct.

Apple also intentionally made the white-on-green contrast poor so that texting non-Apple people would be harder on your eyes.

When iphones send sms to other iphones it's a blue bubble. When iphones send to androids, it's a green bubble. When Android users send sms, they can make it pink if they want.
