What is something really stupid you purchased that turned out far better than expected?
I bought a piece of 1.5 inch stiff foam to try to fix a sag in a bed. It didn't work but having that thick piece of solid foam around has been a life saver.
Need something flat to put a laptop on? Throw it on the foam. Going to be doing something that requires you to be on your knees for a while? Get the foam!
It went from stupid purchase to something I'd gladly replace if it broke.

Bug vacuum. Initially bought it for my wife so she can suck up spiders in the house. Then I realized I didn't like squishing them either and now it sits in a prime location in the house.
Do you realize that there is a big cannibal spider living in your vacuum now?

That’s interesting. How do you get them out safely?
It pops them into a little jar. Then you take that outside and open the lid. They are commonly used for study of bugs in school.

you shouldn't have that many spiders in your house , if you do its a sign of other bugs , and thats typically due to something wrong , either moisture trapped in attic / old insulation that is allowing them nest .. etc etc . find the source of WHY there is bugs.
In the Seattle area, there are a ton of daddy long legs and wolf spiders. On multiple occasions, I have found wolf spiders that was 2 inch long. Usually during mating season. I have lived in Seattle for 25 years and every apartment and every home I have owned has them. Its just how it is in Seattle.
