'Stand with Trump' becomes rallying cry as Republicans amplify attacks on US justice system
apnews.com

Moments after Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to federal charges that he hoarded classified documents and then conspired to obstruct an investigation about it, the Republicans in Congress had his back. Trump's mounting legal jeopardy has quickly become a political rallying cry as they rush to stand by the indicted former president. Many Republicans say they haven't fully read the 49-page indictment against Trump. But they are adopting his grievances against the federal justice system as their own. It’s an example of how Trump has transformed the Republican Party that was once the party of “law and order,” but is now attacking the very justice system at the foundation of U.S. democracy.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy dashed off a fundraising email decrying the “witch hunt” against the former president and urging donors to sign up and “stand with Trump.”

The US truly seems like a strange place, imagine having a fundraiser to pay the millionaire disgraced former presidents legal bills. We'd never be so stupid in the uk.......ah..fuck it.

lets not forget hes made money selling us out, the traitor. and now hes grifting for more.

At least you all just had a commission that seems to have made some definitive statements about Boris today. (Not being Brit I fully admit to not understanding the full import or procedure, but at least it was gratifying to observe at least some repercussions.)

Not to be an ass about it. but you have no idea how good it feels to know that there's people like Borris. Mostly because, misery loves company.

They know that without him they're toast in any future election. And they'd rather destroy democracy than accept defeat. If there's even much left to destroy at this point.

They’re toast, anyway. Their demographic is literally dying and they can’t replace them since their positions are odious to the youth.

That's why they're trying to abolish elections altogether.

McCarthy also claimed that it was fine that documents were stored in a bathroom because "bathrooms have locks." Last time I checked, though, most bathrooms lock from the inside. "I'm going to lock myself in with these classified documents for a while" isn't a very good defense.
