How many Lemmy users are non-technical background?
I think most all of us here on Lemmy are people with technical background. Most of my professional contacts remained using Reddit, Twitter and even excited when Threads launched.

I'm a truck driver though I do have a Master's in maths. Make of that what you will.
You did the math and realized you could get a job elsewhere.
How'd you end up in that career?
Turns out a maths Master's isn't specific enough for most jobs I applied for. I eventually got fed up with the ridiculously long application processes and took the easy route.
The only one with math masters getting hired for their knowledge I know was hired by NSA
My truck driving cousin likewise has BS in physics and a masters in education
