If you're still worried about the suitability of Lemmy/Kbin as a reddit alternative go check out calckey
Calckey is a federated microblogging platform. More specifically it's a fork of misskey which itself is an alternative of Mastodon.
Calckey has a loooot of bells and whistles and is an example of how feature rich fediverse projects can be.
With the huge amount of eyes that are on Lemmy / kbin right now and the spite that Reddit is earning, it's a matter of time until we're spoiled with improvements and features and possibly even completely new interoperable projects.
It's only a matter of time and so much will change in the next year. This of us who are not developers need to continue creating content in the mean time, but I'm quite excited about the future.

What's content like on Misskey and Calckey? Is it more tweet like or more reddit like? And does it operate like Facebook, because both of them gave heavy Facebook vibes.
It's much more like Twitter. I don't think it's like Facebook at all. The content is exactly the same content as on Mastodon or pleroma since it interoperates perfectly with them.
It can also receive Lemmy posts, but it's not ideal. Lemmy needs to work a bit on making its content more accessible from outside Lemmy, but I'm sure that'll come in due time.
Interesting. I've been eying it for a couple days. I think I'll try it out.
