GOOD swords are expensive. I can buy a cheap chunk of 440C stainless for $50 at a flea market that is absolutely enough to hurt or kill someone.
But I'm in favor if villain control, and not sword control. You can have my sword when you pry it from my cold, dead gauntlets.

Even those cheap swords at the flea market are for decoration. I have two and they work as blunt objects but they have no edge. Grabbing a knife would be more effective.
It's a good thing no one ever invented a way to sharpen a blade.
Of course, I guess that could be useful in some context. It gets awful expensive throwing my shun chef knife out every week.
