I can't tell and it will take at least a decade for us to get a sense of how accurate or excessive the crackdown was and how many innocent people were apprehended.
Imho they were not in a state of peace anymore they were at war and the crackdown was completely justified and long overdue. However in the long run there will be some issues and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hero become the villain.
Yeah, I have some Salvadoran friends and I am well aware of how bad it was getting. Something definitely needed to change.
