I legitimately love the way this song opens. Just brutality right up front. Good stuff.

Excellent track. I really enjoyed the instrumental from 0:58-2:15. Especially the harmonics around 1:55. Reminded me a lot of 'you slut!'

I'll check 'em out on my commute today 👍

Okay, so as stated I listened to You Slut!, specifically their album "Medium Bastard" on my commute into work today; since the album is short I was easily able to finish it end-to-end. I'm not going to review the album or anything as I think a real review requires more (and more focused) listening, but I do have some initial thoughts.

First, this was sick. I love jazzy math rock, especially when it has lots of fun dynamics to keep me interested but still feels cohesive and intentional (something I truly don't think every math-* band can claim). I see they have an earlier album also; I'll probably check that out too after I've given "Medium Bastard" a couple more spins. Thanks for the recommendation!

Secondly, while I think You Slut! are definitely way more mathy than Haste the Day (who are more traditional metalcore), there were a few points in the album that did remind me of Haste the Day's "Substance," probably most notably a couple bass sections in the song "Fiftzeen." Who they reminded me of more frequently, however, was the band Maybeshewill, although Maybeshewill is more post-rock to You Slut!'s math-rock. I wouldn't say the two bands sound similar, but kind of exist in the same sonic universe if that makes sense, so if you're open to a more melodic and less frantic take on the sound and haven't yet heard Maybeshewill, you might dig them 👍

Anyway, thanks again for the recommendation!

Thanks for these thoughts and recs dude. Cheers
