Hell, I wouldn't tell it here as well. It's going to the grave with me.

Be youself and everything will be fine.

Me as well. I've been in situations where complete strangers online have answered and helped me so many times regarding problems I've had, so I've tried to return the favor through reddit and other platforms. I have no intention of doing this, this is just... mean IMO. You open the link in hope of finding an answer and you run into... this 😒.

IDK, seems stupid to me. The whole point of going to a vacation is to get away from work... well, at least for me. Some workaholics out there might disagree, but that's not me 🤷.

Yeah, I litelarly had no interests before I got married. Now, even less.

Be the change, post something 🤷.

Everyone complains, but no one does anything about it...

No.

It's just NO in hex... sorry the mystery isn't deeper.

Maybe that was the play, drive everyone out of the building so they can have sex in peace.

Ummm... out of the loop.

The main reason why kids write like neanderthals nowadays.

Mooom, the normies are bulling me again.

Cuz they reopened it.

RustDesk

That being said, it's developed by Chinese and communication with them is tough. Some security issues still haven't been patched (no one actually knows why, they either don't reply why or reply in Chinese with a cryptic message like "why ask this" or something weird like that). They're also notoriusly against anyone speaking anything against them (I once commented on their subreddit that the devs are mostly Chinese, so communication is kinda difficult, after someone asked why they don't reply or give scarce replies regarding issues and PRs on their GH).

Still, it's free and open source, so you can give it a spin if you'd like. The servers that come by default are super slow, the idea is to make your own (which kinda beats the point of actually having some sort of a replacement for TeamViewer or AnyDesk... if I wanted to set up my own server, there are other open source alternatives), which drew me away from it from the start.

I still use AnyDesk with version 7.0.14 for Windows and version 6.0.1 for Linux. The older Windows versions because there is no red bar over the window that says "free version" or whatever and the older version for Linux because it just works better than the latest one (6.2.x), I have no idea why.

There was a holup community here, just can't remember the instance.

Yeah, like me with Shaving Private Ryan.

Is it normal that I find the second image arousing?

3 more...

Yeah, but no one's there to help you if you actually do need help.

And now people don't even understand me, like I wrote "I'll PM you" and they said "What 🤨" 🤦.

Guess I'll have to shift from using PM to DM... though it seems completely illogical to me, but hey, that's life I guess.

The paid ones, probably not. The free ones, yes most probably.

Yep, bad advice. Kick them in the nuts, break their nose and yeah, they'll leave you alone.

What in Davy Jones' locker did ye just bark, ye scurvy bilgerat? I'll have ye know I be the meanest cutthroat on the seven seas, and I've led numerous raids on fishing villages, and raped over 300 wenches. I be trained in hit-and-run pillaging and be the deadliest with a pistol of all the captains on the high seas. Ye be nothing to me but another source o' swag. I'll have yer guts for garters and keel haul ye like never been done before, hear me true. You think ye can hide behind your newfangled computing device? Think twice on that, scallywag. As we parley I be contacting my secret network o' pirates across the sea and yer port is being tracked right now so ye better prepare for the typhoon, weevil. The kind o' monsoon that'll wipe ye off the map. You're sharkbait, fool. I can sail anywhere, in any waters, and can kill ye in o'er seven hundred ways, and that be just with me hook and fist. Not only do I be top o' the line with a cutlass, but I have an entire pirate fleet at my beck and call and I'll damned sure use it all to wipe yer arse off o' the world, ye dog. If only ye had had the foresight to know what devilish wrath your jibe was about to incur, ye might have belayed the comment. But ye couldn't, ye didn't, and now ye'll pay the ultimate toll, you buffoon. I'll shit fury all over ye and ye'll drown in the depths o' it. You're fish food now!

I thought you were a house painter.

Good boy.

The pope being there was just a coincidence.

Lemmy could do with some form of user data download option so you can at least get a list of the communities you've subscribed to and the posts you've written and saved

That is something that is planned, just not being worked on currently. This thing was barely usable when the reddit thing happened, the platform was far from ready for the influx of users it received.

User migration could be made easier. At least being able to upload a list of communities to subscribe to.

That is also something that is planned, but not currently being worked on. Like migrating your whole profile, including posts, to another instance.

That being said, there is a tool that will export almost all (as far as I can tell, the profile pic is the only thing it doesn't export) of your settings and communities from your profile in a file and then you can import them on another account.

!plugins@sh.itjust.works

And the big one ... the fediverse doesn't enable you to own your data and profile in anyway unless you self host ... at some point down the road, it would be good if this could be addressed.

Also on the backburner. It's planned, just currently not a priority.

Like scat posts?

It's because people usually search for that... one of the many reasons why I lost hope in the human race... people getting their kinks on other people getting beaten up or killed... I mean, it just goes to show you how worse we are even than animals.

Why don't you just eat ice cream without milk in it... I mean, I haven't looked, but it's bound to be a thing by now. 🤷

Misanthropy just realism.

I think this about sums it up... I'm sorry, I really am, I was such an advocate for human kind and had such hope for it, up until about 10 years ago... and then I just gave up... I mean, it can take a long time to fill a cup if you just drip in it, but eventually, it will get full 🤷.

Yeah, he's doing a great job. Hell, he's the reason I'm here.

There is this GUI app called lasim. Download it, run it, export the data to json. But, the instance has to be online in order to do this.

Trust me, the guy on the left has the most important job of all - holding the truck together.

Yeah, we have to put in extra effort.

It's converted to webp once uploaded on Lemmy. The BE supports it, but not every Lemmy instance is set up this way (though most are).

Sure, I use them, but I have a good reason why I started using them. I lost my plastic 3 times in one year. I have a small kid, he's glued to me, whether it be the market or the playground, doesn't matter, he's always with me. He distracts me all the time (aways asking questions), so I just forget to take my plastic sometimes 🤷.

So, even though I was against it, I decided to use Google Pay (now Wallet). I rarely forget my phone (only when I leave home, so it's at home), plus it's big and bulky, you notice it missing sooner than a piece of plastic.

If there are any FOSS alternatives, I'd gladly use them, but as far as I know, there are none 🤷.

It should be the last resort plan. Cuz if the domain name changes, that's a new instance as far as Lemmy is concerned. Sure, the instance will hold all your posts and media, but I don't think new posts made from that account will be associated with posts before the domain name change.

I R baboon.

Oh, cool, thanks for the explanation 👍.
