Sounds like corruption is playing a part in this

I think you should take 5% of donations to pay yourselves personally. I appreciate your work!

So corruption is legal now

Well I just spent the rest of my coins (7k) on promoting lemmy in that thread lol. I was done with reddit before, but now I know reddit is really done.

Gold was introduced as a way to help sustain server costs, then it was a money grab.

This will be entertaining

That, and when switching from reddit to Lemmy I realized how toxic the relationship there was, and I just use all social media way less now.

They have been experimenting with this on /r/cryptocurrency for a long time. I was a moderator in that ecosystem and am good friends with some of the mods there. I've always been weary of moons, but I didn't think they would actually bring it to the whole platform.

This is definitely a paradigm shift that'll be an interesting dumpster fire to watch.

I work on Ethereum related things full time (and love the core parts of it), but I also, like you, think most crypto stuff is a slimy scam. Stuff like this is exactly why. It's a way for reddit to encourage bots to farm karma for real/fake money on garbage repost content.

I know crypto/blockchain in general is mostly hated in this community, and stuff like this absolutely does not help.

That is a great picture, subbing

That is a terrible dark pattern. "Let me just change the defaults away from the option that literally is the default setting (default browser) to the thing I want users to use instead".

Straight up maliciously ignoring "default browser".

SSL proxy, in a company full of developers, so they could sniff traffic. It broke everything. It's one of the reasons I left that company.

What about one drive and edge?? Last time I had to do updates on the SOs computer I told her I'm switching her to Linux as soon as gaming just gets a little more stable (she plays halo infinite, which sometimes isn't that polished on Linux)

He didn't flee, he was based out of the Bahamas to try to evade taxes and regulation, not extradition, this meme isn't accurate.

Jan 1 1984 of course

I wish the US Government had their shit together enough where this should be their top concern.

https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/overview it's proprietary, but it has a lot of features geared towards writing novels/screenplays/etc

Nope rocm works great with open source drivers and is way better than it was 6 months to a year ago

The best way this could be handled is a green check mark near the video that you could click on it and it would give you all the meta data of the video (location, time, source, etc) with a digital signature (what would look like a random string of text) that you could click on and your browser would show you the chain of trust, where the signature came from, that it's valid, probably the manufacturer of the equipment it was recorded on, etc.

If they need to buy/sell all our personal information so they can advertise, and they need to do that to survive, I'd say let them go bankrupt.

Also, what is proposed is very reasonable, this won't cause a recession.

Ahhh, home

Feeling this lately. Also "well it works on my machine".

Honestly I like typescript, actually writing the language, but as soon as it comes to build time it becomes a hot mess. Trying to transpile to node and browser, I might as well use fucking cmake.

Someone yesterday at an event told me they are having their 8th kid because of Jesus

It's not that easy for corporate environments, but yes, IT departments need to push back, this is pretty fucked up

Which can be missed by an examiner

I never say this, but fucking preach

YES this. We should start a community. I hate advertising, absolutely hate it, and do everything I can to avoid it. Pihole βœ…, YouTube premium βœ…, sponsorblock βœ…, Firefox βœ…, ublock origin βœ….

What else am I missing, I want it all blocked!

Ahh, Lemmy shit post, makes sense now

Thanks I've been wondering where the term originated

Ya pretty accurate.

Agreed, I started donating to Lemmy as soon as I switched, and I'm happy to pay for sync too. I want to support this ecosystem.

Ya sadly it might be, but worth checking

Give it a bit

It's not that hard to use and it's worth the transition. Gaming on Linux is pretty reasonable at this point, most stuff is in the browser or has a Linux app now too.

ARM is not paltry, it's in small/portable devices because it's efficient, not weak.

The real gun nuts invest heavily in ammo manufacturing and reloading. And not all states will comply.

I love and hate this
