Yes, it does happen in Troubleshoot Mode. And based on the article you sent, it does mean it's a Firefox issue, not a extension one

I didn't even know that there was a troubleshoot mode. I'll try and come back here

I guess you can set a host on your /etc/hosts to redirect all your pterodactyl.example.com to a local ip. Also, if you need access from other computers on the local network, I think you can set up a local DNS server (such as PiHole or AdGuard Home) to reach the same solution but for all address running though your DNS server

I like the mint project, but I dislike how it's done

I don't suggest mint to anyone anymore. I rather suggest Fedora or PopOs

I think Gnome VS KDE it's just a POV

Your argument makes sense that KDE and Cinnamon can be welcoming to Windows users. However I can argue that it can also make these newcomers to keep a "windows-like" mindset and that can be frustrating.

If a newcomer comes to Gnome, due to it's totally different paradigm, it may induce this newcomer to have an open mind and, therefore, be more welcoming to linux experience.

I don't think one argument or the other is right or wrong. I think both arguments are valid and that's just a different perspective. I, personally, think that a totally new paradigm is good to newcomers, but be free to disagree, since you understand that there is no right or wrong regarding this topic

Arch wasn't affected at all, cause the backdoor trigger was only on deb and rpm distros.

However it still a good practice to update your system and leave this version behind. Anyway, Arch already updated and is no longer distributing the backdoor version, therefore 5.6.1-3 is safe

You can use Arch btw again. Actually, you never had to leave it at first

Complex and recent games run on Linux these days.

Not allowing run a game in Linux is, nowadays, a choice from its developer rather then a causality. Proton is a really powerful tool!

If a game don't run in Linux, via Proton or natively, that's dev issue that actively blocked Linux.

Free on free software stands for freedom, not for free of charge.

Someone is paying for foss somehow. Maybe it's the dev with his time and effort, maybe is an enterprise, maybe it's a few fellows that contribute financially.

The point is: we all have to pay our bills. Someone is being charged to maintain foss.

So yes, we should normalize paying for foss.

Not chromium based. I think it's important to have alternatives to chromium-based browsers and Google's monopoly.

If Firefox vanishes, I'll use Epiphany instead.

Well... If you're a persona non grata in a genocidal country, you must be doing something right

whereas I’ve configured Firefox on their Linux laptop not to keep any cookies after the browser is closed.

Here is your issue

It has nothing to do with Linux at all. It's all about the browsers configurations you made

Never

Made in Rust is not synonym of safety. Every code is as safe as its programmer made it be.

Israel be like: I kill every muslim!!!!!!

Muslims be like: we will attack back!

USA be like: No no no! Only Israel allowed to attack.

Well... I typed "vim -y" at the terminal to see what was that and now I don't know how to leave vim.

I think it solves nothing, cause it's not primarily a XZ issue itself, but some bad actors that infiltrate into the community for years to finally use his credibility to upload a backdoor. Every single package is vulnerable to this kind of attack and has little we can do to completely avoid it

Of course we have to make the best moves to prevent this happening again, however it's not a simple "I'll use X instead of Z" (see what I did here?!), cause both X and Z may be doomed with this shit anytime

Arbitrary, exactly like any other distro tierlist

Here's what you do:

  • Remove OpenOffice
  • Install LibreOffice

OpenOffice is discontinued a long time. Last time updated was 4.1.6 on Jan 25, 2019

You are lucky that people are nice, cause due to your petulance I would never help you

X is deprecated. I wonder why it still on the alphabet.

Have you tried ctrl+shift+c to copy from terminal?

Terminal shortcuts to copy and paste are different, because ctrl+<letter> may be a command

Neither. I use a rolling release distro.

But if I have to use release based distros, I probably would clean install.

AUR is a user repo, which means that If you install any aur package, you're trusting the user who is maintaining this package.

But if you install aur enough, you may install packages and libraries in your system that may break stuff.

AUR is not containerized, which means that these packages shares libs and files with your system. If a package installs a lib unsupported by official repo, it will certainly break your system.

I like aur, but I always try to install the least amount of packages from this source as possible.

ctrl+Q did the job!

What makes you think that a community called "Linux" is the best place to ask a question about Windows?

I thought that US was the country of freedom, but turns out that the freedom is just to racists, nazis and for them to fuck up other countries.

Dude, you need a prize for this comment. Very well explained!

Well, I bet that if any country attacked one embassy from who is condemning, the strike back would be very worse.

I use KeePassXC on my laptop, KeePassDX on my phone and sync them with Syncthing.

This ia pretty sweet

This shit again... I moved to LTS kernel exactly because of this bug and now it reached LTS kernel as well...

Because "inferior" is just a perspective. In your pov Linux may be better, but for someone who wants a PC to play games, mainly games with anticheats, Linux is objectively worst.

Linux, Windows, MacOS, etc are just software. You must be able to use the software that best fits in your needs and that's it.

Gnome itself is embedded with parental control and you can enable it while adding a new user

I don't know how other DEs deal with it, but I think all of them has something similar, tho

Edit: also may be a good idea set a AdGuard to set a DNS block for some origins... AdGuard gives you the capability to block several apps and you can customize blocks as well

The best password manager!

Install it from your Software Center. It's really easy and need no command at all.

Well, until someone find a new backdoor, I call it safe again

I'll not lose my mental health to a potentially and unknown shady backdoor that could be installed or not in a lib

I don't know the distro, but surely the messenger is based on Matrix protocol

Silly Israel! Next time try checking if bombs are correctly functioning to give happy and love!
