I remember a gamedev complaining about this on Twitter but the outcome he came to was that he hated that Linux users submitted bug reports, stating the OS itself was broken and he refused to help any of them.

Thats amazing. Its like they are 'pirating' uber. I love it.

Well it worked with Ramaswamy. Saw an article yesterday of an Iowan voter who said he wouldn't support him because he hasn't forgiven them for 9/11.

So far the most popular games ive seen pushback from are Slay the Spire, Cult of the Lamb and Darkest Dungeon. Those games also have the benefit of dedicated fanbases. Those people will easily follow them.

More I see stuff like this the more I believe that these services really aren't making any money and its all smokescreen.

Though this could also just be investors trying to drive up profits instead.

It just looks like some Lemmy users are falling for an obvious troll.

Does walmart even need to advertise? They have such a grip on retailspace they just need to exist to make money.

We need to bring WSB in this. If anyone can crash those numbers it's them.

I still find it hilarious that Tuberville has effectively become one of the best anti-military politicians, even if his reasons for doing so are completely unexpected.

It's a damn shame. May he rest in peace.

When it comes to android apps I always look for open source stuff first. Literally just save the headache of dealing with bot-reviews, ads in app, etc.

They allowed for the inclusion of DRM into HTML5. This DRM is not open-source, can't even be source audited and refused to back down. Such a move caused the EFF (electronic frontier foundation) to resign from the group. Here's the EFF's letter where they outline these issues if you want to give it a read: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2017/09/open-letter-w3c-director-ceo-team-and-membership

I could also write about them bowing to Google but the DRM thing annoys me more.

And then Tim Berners-Lee has the audacity to complain about the state of the internet. Something his group could've actually stopped or slowed.

These genius also wants to block Tutanota too. What a joke. Never heard of this project and I will now go back to not hearing them.

Bah, there's so many RPi clones and offshoots now I wonder if they can even survive the coming market. Especially when RISC-V SBC's are becoming more common.

Slay the Spire in their statement specifically said theyre looking into other engines. I meant that if said games were ported the audiences would follow.

They didn't say it but I'd assume for Spire they're looking at Godot.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if we see developers make tools to more easily port over games to Godot from Unity.

They're half right. Discord is a horrible platform. It's idiotic most of these mods are suggesting it.

Only recalled cause of this dev doing effectively the inverse.

It would also crack instantly. Obsidian's not durable.

I'm pretty sure there's a term for it. Google did it with shopping and images, Instagram changed the home button with some advertising thing (dont remember the exact details).

Youtube alternatives.

For me, it's the .zip domain. (recently added at the request of google)

This is actually way more common than people think. Lotta people think in order to upload music to streaming you need some label connection. Not the case. Just find a distributor like Symphonic, upload and wait for streams. Hope these guys can get their recumpence.

AA's based outta Kazakhstan though. Lotta good a lawsuit filed in Ohio's gonna do. At most I could see American ISPs implementing a DNS-level block against the site.

Because Obsidian is really fragile. Maybe a bird hits it by accident, shatters the whole thing.

Still wild to me that a company can just own a town. This isn't the 20s or South Korea.

Twitch has been downhill since Justin.tv shut down. Nothing they do surprises me anymore.

Well Ladder is written in Go. 13ft is written in Python.

I mean, was there any person who seriously had a shot that didnt have extreme political views? Didn't the last guy say he was 'david duke without the baggage'?

I'm just glad I realized this early as I did. I made sure to cherish each place, knowing full well it would eventually disappear.
