A 32 year old trans girl living without easy access to trans affirming care. On DIY-HRT for the last 6 years. She/they please, preferably she/her. Will not tolerate transphobia or bigotry of any kind.

My mother uses that excuse though, same excuse she uses to call me my old name, and to say that I'm a man. Horrible old witch. I know it's an excuse because she doesn't bother correcting herself, she keeps going and is insistent that I'm actually a man and that it can't be changed.

I started transitioning 2 years before the pandemic, but it was still nice to be at home and not having to deal with people in person. Lots of people were and still are not very accepting of my transition.

I'm doing better now. That was before I was on HRT that I tried to do away with them myself. I'm feeling better now, less grossed out and uncomfortable because of how much they've shrank. I still wish they were completely gone though.

If only breaking the egg were that easy, young me was so stubborn and in denial it took going through fuck ton of pain and crippling gender dysphoria to finally make me understand and stop being stupid.

Yes I really want it. I don't really care about wearing these tight looking outfits. I just want to not have these things (my penis and my testicles) hanging between my legs, they're disgusting. HRT has shrank them a lot but I would be much happier if they were completely gone and I had a vagina, or even nothing at all. I'd rather have nothing than have them. I did actually try to cut them off before but I didn't have it in me to get little more than through the surface before backing out from the blood and pain.

Probably not, also many animes have themes they probably don't like.

Not even a little bit surprising. It is Trump after all.

Tucking literally isn't enough for me, I feel dysphoria because I have it, not just because other people see it. I still feel it and know its there. It feels gross, it makes me feel gross. I just wish it was gone 😭

Used to think that cis people normally think that they are girls or dislike their genitals, and that it was a phase I would grow out of. I didn't, it just got worse and it was from browsing r/egg_irl and r/traa that made me realize that I was wrong and in-denial.

I want that so badly, even though I pass well enough now, I would love to be cute like that since I'm not super feminine as I am now. If I got the money I would use it to finally get voice surgery and bottom surgery.

Mine was very slow compared to other people, maybe it was because the DIY estrogen I had is weaker or maybe I could've gone with a higher dose. I've been on it for about 6 years and by now I for the most part completely pass except for my voice. It did take about twice as long as shown or more for me to show some of the changes. Thankfully for me hair loss isn't common in my family so I'm lucky I never had to deal with that (my grandfather is in his 80s and still has a full head of hair, it's completely white but it's still lush and thick)

You are extremely self centered in how you see the world. There are as many people in the world and in the fediverse that would say kick you out because you don’t have their best interests at heart.

Wanting basic respect to not have my existence and rights debated or denied is not self-centered, kindly go fuck off if you think it is. If me being transgender and wanting basic respect, and not having my existence and identity denied doesn't "have their best interests at heart" they can fuck off, because they are nazis and bigots who don't have my or my minority brethren's best interests at heart. This isn't asking for special treatment, this is asking to not have my existence and identity denied. Something that cishet people take for granted.

Folks this is an example of one of these dogwhistles I pointed out, trying to claim that wanting basic respect as a person and the way I identify is somehow self-centered. Fact is LGBTQ people just want to exist without prejudice or having their existence and validity debated, that isn't an unreasonable ask and yet there are people who will screetch and whine when simply being asked to show respect, not even told, asked.

I wish more instances would handle banning transphobes the way Hexbear does. No tolerance for Bigotry. Lemmy.world though seems to unfortunately be quite lenient about it ☹️

Agreed, this is a really bad take. I feel like this person is one of those people spreading thinly veiled transphobia and dogwhistles. That's what that is, claiming we are self-centered, too sensitive, slowflakes, triggered, etc. That's what they say to try and deny the legitimacy of our struggle, and the fact that in the end what we want is basic respect and recognition, they don't even want to do that.

Most people who are transphobic know what they are doing, I'm certain the people I saw do. They're not going to change, they need to be given the boot to protect our communities from becoming Nazi bars.

I have a feeling they had some serious penis dysphoria, and were using the mushrooms as a coverup so they could cut it off without being outed. I had friends who had dysphoria that bad and couldn't get bottom surgery due to expense or transphobic doctors and they took matters into their own hands, sadly for many it wasn't enough and they took their own lives because of the dysphoria.

It feels really shitty that people are mocking this person for this or saying they're crazy, dysphoria is no joke, and if E hadn't shrunk mine as much as it did I may have done the same as where I live I can't get bottom surgery unless I can "prove I'm a woman", I wouldn't even have been able to get on estrogen if I didn't DIY it for the same stupid reason. Thank goodness for grey-market estrogen online.

Sure I can provide some examples:

I just wish they wouldn't force their gender and pronouns onto other people

Translation: Doesn't believe trans people are valid and doesn't think people should respect our preferred pronouns

I just think that they need to keep it to themselves and leave kids out of it

Translation: Doesn't believe we should exist in public, that we are a threat to children by virtue of being transgender.

It's important to protect women's spaces

Translation: Trans women shouldn't be allowed to use the same spaces cis women use

There's also more subtle ones such as people referring to cis women as real women, or referring to the transgender movement as gender ideology. The first one is wrong because trans women are real women, and the second one is wrong because transgender isn't a religion or organization like a church. They are calling it an ideology so they can pretend there is an institution to fight against, in reality transgender people just exist and want to live our lives.

Most of the people exhibiting the transphobic traits and behaviors I've mentioned had @lemmy.world extensions on their account. I saw only a few from lemmy.ml doing it, and essentially no hexbears doing it at all.

Just as well, the Lemmy.world one was filled with transphobes and transphobia apologists. No progress to be made there unfortunately.

Lemmy.world might be a lost cause, maybe defederation of .world should be more widely considered...

Lemmy.world is a shitty instance, filled with transphobes and trolls. Would definitely recommend moving to a different one. I hear lemmy.blahaj.zone is really nice, they ban transphobes and their apologists on sight.

It's a meme about gender identity using techy terms in different ways to describe how a person realized they were trans (or I guess that they aren't trans). Basically it's humor, it's also a shitpost.

Not the OP, but I am transfem myself. No unfortunately beard doesn't go away with hormones. It grows slightly more slowly and the hairs are finer, but it's still there. I haven't had laser or electrolysis to remove the hairs permanently so I still have to shave. I hate it so much, I wish my beard would just go away 😭

Pirated it (did DIY HRT)

Admins indeed can deal with these users, by deleting their content from their instances, and banning them from the site, if they are homed on that specific instance they get banned everywhere when that happens. So it can be dealt with but it takes work from our admins, and since these are communities run by real people and not monolithic corporations, we can speak up and make a difference. Reach out to these admins who are real people.

Sometimes it do be necessary for some of us. Lucky for me mine shrunk a lot on E, or I very well might've done what they did.

Edit: Transphobic dipshit downvoter has no understanding of just how bad it can be to have gender dysphoria. I hope you never have to feel just how truly awful it feels like to be born in the wrong body and feel out of place in life. It sucks royally.

I will definitely report it more often when I see it.

That's incredible, all that from just 3 months of HRT. It's really impressive. I wish I were that lucky, it took me more than 3 years to get much progress on HRT myself.

It does have all the worst qualities of Reddit, including the hate speech and the hateful downvotes, I saw many people on Reddit heavily downvoted in unrelated threads because they were openly trans on their profile. I've unfortunately seen the same thing on Lemmy from Lemmy.world comment sections and that's just in the first 5 days of being here.

I know, I'm subscribed to many of their communities already, they are some of the nicest people I've met on the fediverse. If I was going to recommend my friends join Lemmy I would recommend they join lemmy.blahaj.zone. However even though there are good instances which are safe spaces it doesn't detract from the problem, since they will still use the federated general communities and thus will still encounter those problems. Even if they're on the friendly insances, the problem gets federated.

That's why it is important to address transphobia in the fediverse as a whole, having safe spaces help but we should expect a level of common decency in any community. Not just in the trans-specific communities.

He doesn't consider himself a right-wing extremist, yet he hangs out on Truth social, and admitted to it himself. That tells us all we need to know about what kind of person he is. Most people who aren't rather far right wing don't hang out on truth social, a platform by conservatives, for conservatives.

It's almost certainly transphobic people or bots run by transphobic people. Either way people who don't bring anything positive to the discussion and who bear hostility to the trans community, hence why I say the downvotes on the post can be used to find some of the more quiet transphobes and ban them.

They may be aggressive in their methods but they are one of if not the most trans friendly servers in the fediverse. Mostly because they ban people for bigotry and apologists of transphobes. I mean you are a cis person, saying that a space is unfriendly to transphobes because they are a bit on the aggressive side and ban people for bigotry that is real but you don't see or understand why it is bigotry. It really isn't your place to tell us trans people that a space meant for trans people is unfriendly to trans people.

Yeah it's easy to spot when you know what to look for. Even if they do try to hide it, which this guy did a shitty job at.

That would explain a lot about the atmosphere there, the fact that there are so many people spouting thinly veiled transphobia and excusing transphobia.

I guess that makes sense, still is incredible.

I used they/them because when it comes to people who aren't quite out it's hard to know what they may or may not be okay with. Some people aren't at the point where she/her is comfortable, denial can be really bad as well. Also might be a transfem enby, we don't know that much about them though.

Lemmy may harbor less transphobes than Reddit does but they're still here, these ones are just the ones transphobic enough to click downvote, but too scared of repercussions to speak their mind, I wish they would so they'd be banned faster.

I have too, !mtf@lemmy.blahaj.zone, !trans@lemmy.blahaj.zone, and !asktransgender@lemmy.blahaj.zone are some really nice ones. Most of what I've seen weren't bad communities or even bad posts, it was users commenting under posts, sometimes their own, sometimes other people's. Some weren't even in communities related to LGBTQ, but it came up and they were talking about it. Most of the users had the @lemmy.world extension but a few were lemmy.ml, and a few others too.

Lemmy.world sucks these days, their moderation is poor, and they seem to allow all kinds of bigots and trolls. Someone told me they believe strongly in freedom of speech, this is what it gets them.

I've been trying from different doctors. I've still been denied on the same basis. That I'm not feminine presenting enough for them, I'm probably never going to be enough by their standards I don't really like dresses and I only wear makeup to conceal blemishes and a few face scars I have.
