I don't know of any explicitely intentional dyslexic-unfriendly fonts, but from what I read on Adding A Dyslexia-Friendly Mode To A Website — Smashing Magazine, thin narrow fonts with ligatures should be good candidates, some examples I found from a quick search:

I'm not an expert, those who know more, please correct me.

Regarding logging-in with one account into another instance, I think that's not how it's intended to work. But I'm oot sure I understand what you're asking.

Regarding the unified client API, 2 days ago Manton Reece (Creator of Micro.blog) wrote a response to Dave Winer's open voicemail in where he says:

There is a lot of work to do, even outside of ActivityPub. As Dave mentions, we also need a common posting API. The most popular Mastodon client apps do not support either ActivityPub or Micropub. But a lot of progress can be made focusing on interoperability for the server-to-server part of the API. That should be the top priority with Threads set to join the fediverse.

Maybe I'm whoosh-ing your comment, but the link I provided is not the reddit's place, but a non-reddit alternative

Indeed, and the quokkas are pretty cute too :).

Some very good answers in this post: I'm aware of kbin, mastodon, and lemmy. Are there any other federated applications out there? : nostupidquestions, some random copy&paste:

Here's a list of 130: https://the-federation.info/#projects

this diagram

From What other kinds of servers are on the Fediverse? | Fedi.Tips – An Unofficial Guide to Mastodon and the Fediverse:

As well as Mastodon, there are lots of other server types on the Fediverse, for example:

  • BookWyrm – A social reading platform, an alternative to Amazon’s GoodReads

  • Friendica – A general social network with no character limits, sort of like Facebook used to be on its older interface

  • Funkwhale – Music and podcast storage and sharing

  • Kbin – Link aggregation and discussion, sort of like Reddit

  • Mobilizon – Event organisation, the Fedi’s alternative to Facebook Events

  • OwnCast – Video livestreaming with a chat window at the side, very much in the style of Twitch

  • PeerTube – YouTube-style video sharing site which uses P2P technology to allow even small servers to have videos go viral, as the more people view a video the more bandwidth it gets

  • PixelFed – Photo sharing site, similar in style to Instagram and Tumblr

  • WordPress – Independently hosted WordPress blogs can be turned into Fediverse servers using a special plugin

  • WriteFreely – Minimalist blog where focus is on the text, like a calmer version of Medium

…and that’s just some of them! If you’re a techy person, you can see more comprehensive lists of server types at FediDB and delightful fediverse apps.

javascript:location.href=location.href+‘&sp=CAASAhAB’;

In firefox, you can also add a keyword to this shortcut (e.g.: yt):

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%s&sp=CAASAhAB

Then you can use it from the search bar like yt testing and it will redirect you to this URL (replacing %s with testing):

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=testing&sp=CAASAhAB

EDIT: and a fancier option is to use Redirector, Request Control (or similar) to create a redirection from YT searches without the CAASAhAB query param to the one with it.

Best part:

(..) Brecht’s team even taught the rodents to play hide and seek. At the beginning of the game, a rat was enclosed in a box while a researcher hid somewhere in the room. The researcher then opened the box using a remote control, allowing the animal to jump out and begin “seeking.” When the rat successfully found the hidden scientist, it was rewarded with—you guessed it—a tickle. The rats were also given the opportunity to hide while the researchers looked for them, and they proved to be especially good at coming up with creative hiding spots. Their ability to strategize was “almost spooky,” Brecht recalls.

(...) Brecht’s team first made sure the rats were comfortable with their new playground, aka a dimly lit plastic box, as well as their human playmates. The researchers then played games of “chase the hand” and tickled and the animals on their backs and bellies (see video (...) for an example from a previous experiment). In response to the tickling, the rats shimmied in delight and let out endless “giggles.”

FYI: There are RSS feeds for user posts: https://lemmy.world/feeds/u/Speculater.xml?sort=New

I have read that it was influenced by German capitalization rules; all nouns are capitalized in German. But I never checked if that's true.

Not an expert, those who know more, please correct me.

I think all name disambiguation is made by adding the instance name after. So if someone has the user pics in pixelfed.social, it would be pics@pixelfed.social, while the lemmy.world community would be pics@lemmy.world.

My bad, you're right, I should have added a small description (done!):

(Not the user you were replying to)

I use the script Lemmy Universal Link Switcher. You need a browser addon like Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey to install it.

Well... I spent some time looking for good matches, if that's what you mean :P.

I'm not an expert, so those who know more, please correct me.

FYI: with the script User Details on Hover you can also see karma in Lemmy. Example.

From what I understand, there are technical issues with this. Allowing people to hide the karma if they want is easy. But blocking people for seeing karma even if they want is much harder. Note that if you want karma for posts and comments (to be able to sort the most voted ones), then the user karma is just a very easy query away (just sum the karma of that user's posts and comments). EDIT: I realize that this would not solve the issue either: There are technical ways to do anonymous and auditable voting, but I think that would be too overkill for the fediverse.

(not OP)

Probably this one https://lemmy.world/post/2653518

It's the only one posted to c/pics from pixelfed.social in the last hour.

I use this userscript: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/469297-block-lemmy-instances

You need to edit line 17 after installing.

If it does, I should be able to post images on the pixelfed app that show my username as @adonis.

It cannot work as stated because there could be another @adonis accounts in other instances and the only way to prevent that would be to centralize all the signups which goes against the whole idea of decentralization. That's why the user must be @adonis1@kbin.whatever as it is shown now.

Regarding the OAuth/JWT, again... not an expert, but what I understand is that that kind of integration is much stronger than the current system. AFAIK, it could work as you say, but that would make things much more complex for the servers; you usually provide OAuth authentication for a few services, I don't know how well that scales with ... hundreds / thousands (?) of authentication provders. But, who knows, maybe in the future it's implemented in one way or another.

We should take into account that this technology is fairly new and people are still building on it.

AFAIK that would be ok, a lot of subreddits don't even require the posts to be approved, so that would be the same as setting your sub to not require approving and posting to it with a different account.

I was never downvoted on Reddit as hastily as I am on Lemmy.

Note that, unlike reddit, lemmy shows negative vote values. So it may seem a bit more dramatic compared to reddit.

Good luck!

I'm personally focusing on non-meme communities, but that's just personal preference.

posting so much content can sometimes be a bit tiring.

Agree. What I'm doing (in case it helps) is, instead of going for quantity, go for quality and try to focus the efforts on a few communities that interest me. That way I am posting about things I really like in just a few places and it doesn't become a chore.

I'm trying to get other people on my community to do it too but it's not that easy.

Indeed, it's HARD. This is one of the reasons I haven't created a community yet, it seems too much effort-VS-results-ratio. I know I'm taking the easy path because I'm not so invested in any specific community. So thanks to all of you who create and moderate all the communities.

Indeed, that's one of the most promising ones... and it still only has 2 or 3 posts a day :/.

Oh, my bad, I have indeed confirmed that all nouns are capitalized in German... what I meant is that I'm not sure if that's the reason why English also does it (sometimes).

But thanks for the *confirmation! :)

Note that I said: "you look a bit more organized than small subs", and that's not a very high bar, hehe :P.

More seriously, I thought you were related to reddit's Imaginary Network, which is huge and with some big power-users.

If that's not the case, then more props to you!

old reddit works for me on www.reddit.com while logged in

I use jscher2000/Save-webP-as-extension to make it bearable:

Firefox extension to overlay format and JPEG quality buttons on inline or stand-alone images for quickly saving a converted version of the image.

Agree, thanks for sharing!
