OP really only counts for OC. You posted a picture of someone else's post, they are OP.

There were some old PCI cards that were very badly designed, and they required things plugged into them from inside the case, or they needed to plug into things on the motherboard. I had card that controlled Cold cathode tube lighting that could also connect to audio to sync to the music that worked that way

But, the actual answer is that the grommets are for old-school water-cooling.

Not since I was kicked out at 15 for being gay.

Happy Pride month!

Have you looked into Mint?

The linux mint forums make it seem like it works out of the box. I know that it worked out of the box for my Thinkpad x380, even the touchscreen, pen, and screen rotation.

Before Markus starting saying racist shit, or Q-anon shit, or anti-trans shit.

Some games/software expected/relied on a certain CPU speed to run correctly. If your computer was faster than that, the software would run too fast. The turbo button let you toggle between the maximum speed your computer could go, and the speed that the software needed/expected in order to run normally.

Basically, there was an actual reason for the turbo button, it wasn't just marketing on computers.

Tell his wife that he loved her, because love is "gay" and "feminine"

Firstly, audibly expressing your heterosexuality isn't gay.
Secondly, there is nothing feminine about 2 guys loving each other, they are both guys so it's the most masculine sexual/romantic pairing.

There will for sure be some "Creativity" with their numbers.

"Carbon Neutral" will only apply to the manufacturing of the product, not the life of the product.
It will probably also only apply to the assembly that is done in-house. It might not apply to things like the tires.

It will also probably be done through some bulllshit "carbon credits", which are about as honest and reliable as those "no, our $2 chocolate definitely didn't use any child labour, and the farmers definitely aren't paid slave-wages." badges you find on foods.

The goal posts for both sides are very, very different.

The invading Russian forces have basically failed their first goal; to fully take over Ukraine. They can now claim a minor victory by stealing more territory from Ukraine than just Crimea.

Ukraine's goal was to stop Russia from wiping them off of the map. Things appear to have changed. Their new goal is to retake all land that Russia has stolen (including Crimea).

The war has largely been at a standstill for a while, and the only times that Ukraine has been able to make progress is when the word has given its attention and resources. Since "Israel vs Hamas" is the guerre-du-jour, Ukraine seems to be getting less of both.

So I may sound like a doomer, but it's not looking good for the good guys. They have a much harder victory condition, and the resources that they have relied so far may be drying up.

Choices are not made by 1 person in an organization.
Getting rid of one person isn't solving the program, pretending that it is is insulting.

The hype-based scam convention was run by negligent people, who cared more about being literally flashy than the safety/wellbeing of those around them.

A little on the nose, but not a huge surprise.

Yeah, working in a factory was full of the bullshit like this, but this was the weirdest example. Things that boiled down to "No, I can wear less protective equipment than you!" were very common.

Even if you take the "gay argument" out of things, why would you let a group of 4 divorced guys give you relationship advice?

It's how they categorize different run types.
"any%" means you just need to "beat" the game, you can use glitches, and skip large sections and whatnot.
"100%" means you need to collect all things, unlock all of the things, or hit all checkpoints, whatever "doing 100% of the game" means for that game.

There are also "meme" categories for some games like "sex%" in Baldur's Gate 3, where it's the fastest time to have sex after starting a new game. Right now it's just over 2 minutes.

Lemmy won't sell it, but anyone who wants the data just needs to make a federated instance to get it all for free.

You need to be specific about which type of elves this is.

If we're talking LotR, elves are immortal.
If we're talking 40k, Eldrad is 10,000+ years old.
If we're talking WoW, it's a couple thousand years.
If we're talking D&D, elves live like 750 years.
If we're talking Shadowrun, Elves lit's all over the place.

They don't really work.

Is the whistle louder than the sound of your vehicle and the road?
Is that sound going to reach the deer before it's too late? What about when the wind is blowing in the other direction?

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/228505867_Analysis_and_effectiveness_of_deer_whistles_for_motor_vehicles_Frequencies_levels_and_animal_threshold_responses

One of the predominant frequencies of the whistles, 12 kHz is clearly outside the best frequency of hearing of the deer. The average sound pressure level at 3.3 kHz was determined to be around 70 dB re 20 uPa when the device was bumper-mounted at 40 mph and was totally lost to the road noise produced by the car since it falls within the range of car noise

The most charitable view:
To show western governments that the population doesn't just blindly side with the Israeli government. A major difference between the two sides who are committing heinous acts, is that one side is a government committing genocide, and the other is a military organization (not the government) which was made in response to being forcibly expelled from their land by that government.
Neither side should be killing innocent civilians, but we should not be collectively taking Israel's side, like is traditionally done.

The least charitable view:
Because people want to get away with yelling Nazi-shit in public.

For example, if a company has 1,000 shares in total and you own 200 of them, you own 20% of the company.

Not really true. Most private corporations have more than one type of shares, and this article doesn't seem to recognize that. That's a huge issue.

You need to look at the articles of incorporation, the bylaws of the corporation, any unanimous shareholder agreements (Normally called a "USA"), and maybe even the resolutions in the Minute Book. Retractable, non-voting shares that you aren't allow to transfer/sell without a director quorum, are not going to get you the same as voting shares, or preferred shares, or even shares that have different transferring restrictions.

People who are part of the Fediverse are generally progressive, which is why they are here to begin with instead of facebook/Xitter/reddit.
People who are progressive generally don't like people who don't like trans people.

This is just anecdotally, but it there seems to be much higher than average rate of trans persons on the fediverse.

Well, if Nex’s sexual identity indeed was the reason they are dead, and all this had taken place, say, 20 years ago, nobody would’ve died because nobody would’ve asserted their sexual identity in public.

Instead of someone being beaten to death because of their gender identity, they would beat someone to death because they are gay, or suspected of being gay.
History rhymes.

If you've ever worked a job where you stand in the same place for 8+ hours, you know that it can also be rough on the body. The current advice that I see floating around is to change your position at least every hour.

If you want to be healthier, do the physical exercise that your body can do. Walk instead of drive, and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
