Lemmy security and moderation features aren't the best. It's better to keep this info personal or it may lead to being on some creep list of potential victims. ( Not referring to OP)

Thanks for the TLDR

I leave lemmy for a few days and see hawk tuah everywhere. Is this the new beans posting/jeans posting? Wtf does it it mean.

Thanks.

We need to make Godot the biggest engine for indie devs just like how blender is the go to 3d modeling software.

It's as simple as 'it's free'. Most people don't care about privacy, just bypassing censorship. Plus, the majority of people in third world countries can't afford to pay for a vpn, so they'll flock towards free ones.

This could actually happen if :

1.each panel of the comic is its own file. ( highly plausible )

  1. The panels are stored on an unrooted android phone

  2. She lose her phone data and she has no backup.

  3. She uses a file recovery app like DiskDigger

  4. The app recover a low-resolution thumbnail of the panel.

It was never about security

Penguinz0. His content was garbage when I discovered him so I just avoided him but one day I got recommended his old commercial parodies and it was pure gold. His videos about Kate cooking were also great too. Nowadays, he's a drama youtuber. He scroll Twitter, read about a random scandal, do the bare minimum research to not sound like a fool and then make a video about it.

If I am not mistaken, it's an open source Instagram alternative.

I liked the idea so i asked bing to write a movie synopsis about it. What's fascinating is that bing knew which xkcd comic i was referring to from my horrible description of it. Anyway, here's next year mindless, generic Hollywood blockbuster action movie :

Server Down

Jack Bauer is a nerdy and obsessive system administrator who works in the basement of a high-tech skyscraper. He loves his servers more than anything else, and he will do anything to keep them running smoothly.

When a group of terrorists take over the building and hold the employees hostage, they cut off all communication lines, disable the security cameras, and demand a ransom from the government. But they didn't count on one thing: Jack.

Jack notices that his servers are offline, and decides to take matters into his own hands. He crawls through the ventilation ducts, walks across broken glass, and kills anyone who stands in his way, just to reconnect his servers to the internet. He doesn't care about the hostages, the terrorists, or the ransom. He only cares about his uptime.

But as he reaches the server room, he realizes that he has unwittingly become the only hope for the hostages. The terrorists have planted a bomb in the building, and they are ready to detonate it unless their demands are met. Jack has to use his skills, his gadgets, and his devotion to duty to stop them and save the day. He is the sysadmin, and he is the hero.

Server Down is a thrilling action-comedy that parodies the genre of Die Hard and pays homage to the geek culture. It is a film that celebrates the power of technology, the importance of passion, and the absurdity of heroism.

One of the most inportant features that lemmy lacks is the embedding of peertube/invidious/youtube videos . If you manage to incorporate this then what you'd have would be basically a huge improvement for the Fediverse. Imagine someone sharing a song/video he found on YouTube and instead of dealing with redirect and opening an entire other app you just click play. Heck, the user could add an "audio only" tag to their post to just show a music player widget.

It's scary that the speed of improvement in the AI sector is so fast that people are still talking about something that wasn't a problem one month after it's launch if the person sharing the picture spent a bit more time than just writing the prompt and tapping "GENERATE". not only it wasn't a problem even back then, you could even choose the pose of the character and all other sorts of parameters. Since several months you can just do the bare minimum and it output the correct number of fingers.

People are underestimating AI improvement rate by a lot and big tech's gonna abuse it.

American can either be like : 9/11 is like the worst day in the entire universe lifespan . Don't ever disrespect it, ever!

Or

I ate Mexican tacos and a few hours later, it was like 9/11 all over again in the bathroom. It was so bad that I almost melted my toilet. The keyword is almost, cause we all know jet fuel can't melt steel beams.

There's a weirder type of people that are not even Americans and act like the first type.

Some kind of iron piece is given in some African countries to fight iron deficiency by putting it in the food while it's cooking, so it works.

I rarely ever comment on YouTube but this is a nice addition.

embedding videos directly to lemmy via peertube would be the real deal. It fix the problem of hosting videos by the instance, Leemings get videos and peertube get users and viewers. It's a win win.

Sms aren't limited by my availability....you can send them at 4am in the morning so i can ignore them for 2 weeks for no reason. Meanwhile if you call me at 4am I'd still be awake but it's none of your business why and i wouldn't answer them anyway so why bother.

It's not a scam. Satellite internet was extremely expensive and slow last time I checked a few years before starlink. Yeah , musk is garbage but starlink is actually helping a lot of people worldwide.

Downloading and occasionally playing games from the flip phone era (j2me games). They seem to be mostly forgotten. They're basically the best alternative to the ad ridden, micro-transactions galore of today's android games and there's a surprisingly high amount of very high quality games.

Anyone and Everyone with the slightest of computer knowledge but paid shills are plugging ublock origin everywhere and anywhere they can , and yet people still choose other garbages. You'd think that maybe they'll see that tiny 'sponsored' text on top of the search result when looking for an adblock and go " why an adblock would advertise itself on search engines? this reeks of garbage, data siphoning bullshit adblock " but no, they even go as far as to defend it. I can't even bother with these people anymore.

With the endless potential of madness such titles could have they always seems so generic. Let's go wild ! I want to read "My new life as a fake salt shaker that instead contains a spice with the highest capsaicin levels in the world that is used as a truth serum to extract info from political opponents of a soon to be dictatorship ethno-state made entirely of cat girls."

Like, imagine a character saying in a serious tone: "either you tell me who's the spy or you get no milk."

I couldn't believe the spec of that pile of garbage the phone when i first saw it. The worst being that It has a Mali-400 MP2 (2 cores, the most famous and used varient is MP4 with 4 cores), a GPU from 2008. I know it's supposed to run linux but they choose the cheapest SOC they could find and then asked the seller if he had any unsold SOCs from the last decade they could use instead.

The saddest part is that when I pointed this, I was always told that it's made for tinkerers and not users, but this doesn't excuse the use of extremely outdated hardware. I didn't expect the latest powerhouse but even 30$ Chinese tvboxes had the latest rockchip SOCs....

Hayao Miyazaki the founder of studio ghibli aka what if anime wasn't made for horny teens but instead had Superbe stories that delve into complex philosophical subjects and strong female lead roles that would even make girl power movies feel sexist. Even if you despise anime, just watch any of their movies really. One advice tho : Don't start with "grave of the fireflies" or otherwise you wouldn't sleep that night.

I geuss the comments I read on reddit, hacker news and even lemmy were all fragments of my imagination. It pissed me off that people were literally defending companies fucking them but eh, they kinda deserve what's happening to them at this point.
