"The problem is that for Russian developers, communication with the community, including the international one, and technical support are implemented through Discord,"

Well that's their problem, isn't it? It's also a problem over here. Technical support regarding simple questions is fine, but any in-depth troubleshooting should honestly be done outside of Discord.

It's only 30 people that have pledged the $14,670. This almost averages to $500 per backer, which is a lot higher than the global average.

My theory? They are arranging the pledges themselves to make it look like they are desired.

Can we pin this post as an example kthnx

My Asus laptop draws (a maximum of) 200W as far as I can tell.

This is not my model but here's the tech sheet for a different one: https://www.asus.com/laptops/for-gaming/tuf-gaming/asus-tuf-gaming-a14-2024/techspec/

That's returning it to the seller. In your country there's implied warranty from the manufacturer and they will have to honor your claims if it is showing defects

Can you not claim warranty / do an RMA?

Ah I should have checked that, yeah. That will bump up the average by quite a bit. Thanks for the logic to my conspiracies, I should have known better

Wouldn't it be a slander case? As they are willfulling repeating lies, while showing that they know it's not true (JD saying they have to fabricate stories to get the media to listen)

It's a demo. If you hit the "learn more" button above it, the same link is posted under the button "download demo"

I'll be honest, I'm not versed in US laws. It's called a citizen criminal case, isn't that the same as civil? Or is that just unlucky phrasing for the uninformed like myself?

Fucking finally. I love a funny joke but if you're looking for serious reviews, you currently have to wade through a sea of trolls, jokes and copy-pasted meme reviews in order to figure out if a game is interesting to you.

Community features are cool but if you're the most popular platform of your kind, you're gonna attract a lot of trolls who's content can be really out there. Filters are a good solution to this!

*For US users

EU users are already protected so this doesn't apply to them.

The quality mode not working is the only real bug. Mods being broken because of an update is expected and normal. Give the mod creators time to update their work and it will be fine.

Unless they've moved on to other projects, then you gotta use a specific version of the game. But that's also not out of the ordinary.

What's the point in these bots posting news articles about stuff covered a week ago?

It's 6% of revenue, not profit. So it cuts even more into profits as it doesn't allow a company in breach of regulations to reduce the impact of the fine by adding expenses that will temporarily lower their profit.

Even more spicy, they can also impose periodic penalties up to 5% of the average daily worldwide turnover for each day of delay in complying. That shit can bankrupt you.

“We have received feedback from customers that several reboots (as many as 15 have been reported) may be required, but overall feedback is that reboots are an effective troubleshooting step at this stage."

A lot of liberties taken with that headline.

No shit. Glad they investigated it so it's official, though. I ditched my account when Phony Stark took over as the writing was on the wall.

Anyone who still uses X is complicit. There's so many alternative platforms to invest in, there's no excuse anymore.

Can't read the rest of the article because paywall but apparently users have chimed in saying rebooting 15 times worked for them. Whether they were serious or not remains a question. I can also imagine it was a time-related thing and after 15 reboots enough time has passed for it to be fixed so the user thought 15 times was the magic number.

Regardless, it's been a shit show.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but they are basically saying that you wouldn't be a good fit with the team.

Now as for the exact reasoning they will probably not tell you, as ambiguous rejections are easier to manage. But to me that sounds like they think you need guidance / support that they cannot offer (read: don't have the budget for).

Not saying I agree with any of it, mind you. Just giving my interpretation

It would make sense to require a company to release the code for players to host their own servers, which has been done by many games in the past. Not to continue to run it themselves.

That's basically what people are asking for. Instead of not being playable anymore, give consumers the means to keep it going for themselves.

This could mean always-online having to be gutted from the game after it's support ends so you can play it offline. Or server hosting files to host your own private or public server.

The goal is to have games not be impossible to play after X amount of time. How companies reach that goal is up to them.

Stop expecting handouts with 0 effort especially when the answer is one tap away.

Because lying means the liar knows they are lying. Stating a falsehood means you don't have to have the intent of lying.

This comes down to libel. Journalists would like not to get sued because they think someone is lying instead of just claiming things they believe in, misguided as it is.

For every article not containing the word slammed, there's a comment that mentions the lack of the word slammed. This way, we'll never get rid of it

They are just covering what a rando on Xitter is saying. Sadly this is the news cycle nowadays:

Unverified / unknown person posts a claim on X > "news" websites write a 6 paragraph article about this single post

And instead of being critical, people just gobble up anything as if it was true.

On Sync v.redd.it links don't work. When I open the link externally it does work.

Regardless of this, can we not directly link to v.redd.it on Lemmy? Seems counterintuitive to the cause if we’re still giving them traffic.

No, this is for US only. Where corporations are permitted to abuse the market and the law (or lack thereof).

Why would Valve delist a game? Can you elaborate on what kind of speculation was made?

Much appreciated. Now I have access to the quote:

“We have received feedback from customers that several reboots (as many as 15 have been reported) may be required, but overall feedback is that reboots are an effective troubleshooting step at this stage."

So fuck the headline, the real message is: yes, rebooting is an effective troubleshooting step at the moment.

I don't know the exact timing of that message in the timeline of the incident, so it could be early "please restart and see if issue persists" or late "something was updated, rebooting will probably help", I don't know.

You can read the internal memo here. They increased their workforce by 400% in 3 years so it was bound to happen.

The severance package is 5 months of pay plus a week for every year they worked there, and a slew of other things to help the transition to a new job.

An example could be AliExpress, with a 130B in revenue and 11B in profit (2023), it would reduce their profit to 3.2B with the 6% fine. That's a whopping 70% less profits, and cutting expenses isn't gonna fix it either.
